I do think that watching the kitchen being dismantled breaks my heart a little bit. John worked so hard on the bespoke kitchen. And all with hand tools. And I know that you are taking everything out you possibly can and that what's to come will be amazing. But, just know that many of us really appreciate the effort that y'all put into making this place what might have been your forever home. I do love how in love you. Both are with the stone that will come to create your literal forever home. As always, you are the family and adventure that I embrace .💋💋💋💋
Hi Tara. An idea for the teapot is to use it as a planter. I use old teapots for plants or flower arrangements because I think it’s a great use for old things we’d otherwise throw away or keep stored in a cubby. Hope you’re having a lovely time on your holiday and as always, love watching!

I used a marine type varnish on wood that was exposed to water. I don't know if you all have Helmsman Urethane. But that is what I used when I lived on my boat for yrs. Works great. And thanks for sharing this, looked liked you got a little teary eyed at the end too John.
I love gardening, too, John. It gives me such joy and peace. I walk around my garden several times every day dead heading, etc. It feels so good.😊🌻. Your garden is beautiful!

John, your flower beds are stunning, and you're right, plants have a way of rebounding when put in new soil, so much resilience. I'm glad you're giving them a new chance. I love a good hedgerow which provides so much sanctuary for birds and other small creatures.
A house is only a home when it's filled with people and love. Once it's empty it just becomes a house again. The next one will be just as special, more special, because you'll have built it yourselves. The Newbys will be in the very fabric of it. Every stone will be a Newby stone. Lock all those special times spent in there into your memory. They're safe there. new chapter begins.

All the outside walls are rock, then there’s an air gap, and finally all the interior walls that back up to an exterior wall are also rock. All the rock used was gathered from the property by the original builder/owner. I love your channel! Your boys are adorable. That puppy of yours is a mess…a good mess. My daughter has a couple of Australian Shepherds; they try to herd their people. 😂 John’s lawn and gardens are beautiful. I will never have anything like them. I live in the US. In our area, for the last few years the drought conditions have been so severe that we are under water use restrictions…no watering of outside plants/lawn. That being said, I understand the local authorities not wanting to increase the overall impermeable surface. See you next Sunday!!!
nice getting everything from the old house which you can use later or in other projects. You could get the old kitchen out and mayby use that for space in a garage or so. Extra room etc....for the BBQ space/outdoor kitchen...or in a new greenhouse for storage etc.

I'm looking forward to the new build! Mint plants (and there are a few others) disrupt the scent paths of mice. Mint planted around the foundations of building will ward them off. Keep in mind that mint is invasive so either barriers or the whole pot could be buried into the ground. I'm sure the new house will probably be well sealed against rodents. All the best to you! S.
Leaving any home where you’ve been happy is always a wrench, but you take your memories with you. That teapot could hold a house plant if you carefully drill holes in the bottom for drainage. Hope you’re enjoying cuddling those orang-utans 😉

In regards to the wet wood shelf, Amazon sells under sink silicone liners with a lip to retain the wet. They come in different sizes with trim to fit options. There are also over washing machine options and under pet dish options 👍
Since you don't seem to be growing grapes for wine, could those cement supports be used for berry plants? Blackberries, raspberrys, logan berries, currents, gooseberries? The suitcases can go under the bed in your office. The rug could be hung on a wall or stored in your cubby hole on the stairs. Wrap the rug in bin bags to keep it dry. A sentimental twinge for the home that was will become a sweet memory later on. Start an album of the pictures of the house as keepsakes. Add them to the new pictures of the house you have now, and the house to come. Think big! Enjoy your vacation!
I am a sort of chaos gardener and if it were possible I would really have a wild garden. But first I live in place with too many rocks and no soil and second I have to battle deer bears and ground squirrels for every bit of vegetation 😂 next spring my money will be spent on fencing both wire and electric. I do enjoy looking at your beautiful garden John.

I'm looking forward to the new build! Mint plants (and there are a few others) disrupt the scent paths of mice. Mint planted around the foundations of building will ward them off. Keep in mind that mint is invasive so either barriers or the whole pot could be buried into the ground. I'm sure the new house will probably be well sealed against rodents. All the best to you! S.

In regards to the wet wood shelf, Amazon sells under sink silicone liners with a lip to retain the wet. They come in different sizes with trim to fit options. There are also over washing machine options and under pet dish options 👍

The suitcases can go under the bed in your office. The rug could be hung on a wall or stored in your cubby hole on the stairs. Wrap the rug in bin bags to keep it dry.
A sentimental twinge for the home that was will become a sweet memory later on. Start an album of the pictures of the house as keepsakes. Add them to the new pictures of the house you have now, and the house to come. Think big! Enjoy your vacation!
I am a sort of chaos gardener and if it were possible I would really have a wild garden. But first I live in place with too many rocks and no soil and second I have to battle deer bears and ground squirrels for every bit of vegetation 😂 next spring my money will be spent on fencing both wire and electric. I do enjoy looking at your beautiful garden John.
