Greatest rivalry in strongman history. If not greatest rivalry in all sports. In most sports when you compare the two G.O.A.T.s you can only speculate because they didn’t compete in the same era. These two went head to head so many times and were always so close. It’s not only impressive how much they pushed each other it’s amazing how much they pushed the sport. Because of these two professional strongmen today can have careers more like Brian and less like Zydrunas and still be financially well off. I don’t care which one is your favorite they are both the GOATs.

Count back is most certainly the better way for determining winners of ties, and I think the average person invested in the show and events will easily be able to comprehend how its done.
Agreed. Unfortunately for Brian he lost 2-3 points in the loading race that year that was in knee deep water in a pool! The bag was on the platform but fell off
I'm sure the real reason they do it is because its more flashy to have the person who wins the last event be the winner. Kind of anti climactic to have someone win the event then lose overall. They want the person throwing up the last stone then jumping in the air celebrating their new title... just like how Martins did this past weekend!
That was a brilliant year, also proves Pudzianowski was indeed an incredible strongman. People often discredit him due to the WSM and Arnold split, that year coming in second with the two greatest strongman and at the end of his career proved he also is one of the greatest strongmen.

Big Z has an impressive record! So does Shaw, who inspires me all the time. One of the things I love about these videos is the relationship between Big Loz and Liz! The two definitely became one.
Although Mariusz hasn't won as many titles, his competition performance metric is higher. Zydrunas won 48% of the international and 59% of all competitions he participated in, whereas Mariusz---63% and 71%, respectively.
I have always hated the emphasis on the stones. It’s honestly made me resent them to a certain degree. Jon Pall in ‘88, Magnus in 1994, and Phil Pfister in ‘06 were some of the most memorable for me and all of those were before the whole Double Points, Stone Off etc etc Stone bullshit was implemented. I think it cheapens the sport.

@@CWPWWRESTLING it would also be interesting though, because usually people like to throw bullshit made up "facts" around, that wont really work if the comments are immediately under the video with the actual statistics
I definitely think they should go back to the count back rule. Having everything decided on one stone event seem silly me. I also don't like the stone-off used in the WSM heats either.
I never understood why Brian didn't up his overhead game. He has some massive levers as shoulders. You would think that he would be in some of the 210+ kg categories such as axle clean and log lift! he does the Cyr dumbbell so well, but he is par for the course in most overhead events!
I know they're both so good that neither is definitively better than the other buuuuuut my heart has to go with Z! For me, it's the fact that he broke so many records, the fact that he was such a static monster, the fact that he could have won even more WSM titles if he had competed more during the Pudzianowski era, the sheer number of titles he won, the fact that he didn't start losing to Brian until he was arguably past his prime, and the fact that he was such a dominant force at the Arnolds (which is just such a heavy and brutal competition)!

BIGZ is the greatest strongman of all time. Brian is a great and decorated strongman than others but not at all close to Z in any aspects apart from WSM titles they both hold. BigZ has been top of his game for so many years. And the no. of titles he has in overall is just awfully great
Titles and world records Big Z has has over 70 world records ( someone said over 80 but I could not find source for that claim ).
@@djordjedangubic7270 absolutely man. BigZ is phenomenal. He lost to brian later on in his career too much when he came 9-10th or even pulled out of comp. After 2016, those injuries did big damage to our GOAT and he wasn't the same after that.
Still I am fucking shocked to hear that he competed in 16 comps in 2012😳😳😳. WTF man!!!
Big Z has an impressive record! So does Shaw, who inspires me all the time. One of the things I love about these videos is the relationship between Big Loz and Liz! The two definitely became one.
This was fun!
Head to Head Idea: Magnus Samuelsson vs Svend Karlson
2009 WSM podium had 13 titles on it!
Damn
Looking forward to some Brit comparisons, like Loz Vs Terry👍😁
I’d love to see a head to head on Thor vs Eddie!!
76 wins from 140 competitions? absolute monster...and probably like 120 podiums
Not two of the greatest... the two greatest!
2010-2018 was the peak of strongman with 4 of the strongest men ever to compete with Brian Shaw, Zydrunas, Eddie Hall and Hafthor all competing.
We need to see Zydrunas vs Pudzianowski head to head, just to see the triggering and subsequent coping in the comments.
Liz, your laugh is so infectious. It can brighten even the most depressing day.
Although Mariusz hasn't won as many titles, his competition performance metric is higher. Zydrunas won 48% of the international and 59% of all competitions he participated in, whereas Mariusz---63% and 71%, respectively.
exactly
I have always hated the emphasis on the stones. It’s honestly made me resent them to a certain degree.
Jon Pall in ‘88, Magnus in 1994, and Phil Pfister in ‘06 were some of the most memorable for me and all of those were before the whole Double Points, Stone Off etc etc Stone bullshit was implemented. I think it cheapens the sport.
soon thor vs eddie will be hard to avoid as a request for this format :D
it would probably start a fire, but in the end it's purely factual statistic that people would have to get mad at.
The comments section would be pretty toxic for that one
@@CWPWWRESTLING it would also be interesting though, because usually people like to throw bullshit made up "facts" around, that wont really work if the comments are immediately under the video with the actual statistics
I haven't watched the video yet, so my prediction is Zydrunas. I will come back here and eat crow if I am wrong.
BIG Z all day !!
Can we have dual #1's? I love them both.
Here are my suggestions:
Battle of the OG’s: nick best vs Mark Felix
Battle of the old legends: Bill Kaz vs Magnus
Battle of the greatest deadlifters: Eddie hall vs Thor vs Benedict
Mariusz made everyone evolve as far as speed and endurance to power, Z and Shaw pushed the sport to new highs
JPS vs Kaz vs Capes 87. bad video footage but just shows how dominant John pall was
How about Terry Hollands VS Mark Felix? :)
Great video as always....do you have the courage to do Eddie vs Thor?
There's nothing to compare, thor has 10 major title wins and eddie only has 1 lol and that was linked to a massive controversy as well
@ApeMan5001 big facts that no thor fanboy wants to accept
Thor and Eddie head to head? hype for their boxing match!
Well to be fair that be an ez one since Eddie only beat Thor once and that was his wsm win :P
@@astvaldureinarjonsson1375 It that true? out of all their Giants live competitions? I don't really know, I wasn't a strongman fan until 2018 after Eddie retired :)
@@DanA-dx8gl yes sir :D
I agree with Loz on the public not being that dumb to not understand countback, there are other sports that have countback and other sports that are way more complicated
..if you include arnolds..which true static monter territory ..then I would have to go w Z..can't wait to watch the video .!!..
..it's too bad they didn't get the chance to meet head to head more often.
..I think a big Z and pudjanowski would be a good goat matchup too..
..uhmm the list house on n on..say big Z vs Holland ,....or oberst loz ppundstone lalas
hall licis kelishkowski novikov thor..
..or even way back some of the earlier ones w sven karlson saneulson sigmarson boyer there's a bunch in the late 90s too which ushered in the era of pudjanowski
there is no competition here, Big Z is in his own leage. Brian may have won same amount of WSM titles, but he compete like 2 times a year. Big Z has won it all and used to compete all year long. If i remember correct he even won Strongman champions leage in 2012 or around that time? I feel this is about the same as compairing a "single event world record" to the world records set in a full competition.
Next video: the best strongman of each country ever.
Loving this series. A few more I’d like to see
Loz vs Terry
Z vs Mariusz
Kaz vs Capes
Poundstone vs Brian
Terry and Loz is a good one!
Yes, Loz V’s Terry please ❤️
Mariusz beat Z a couple of times if I'm not mistaken.
Those are easy ones except maybe Terry and loz
@@1vootman z only beat him twice I do believe
Of course Z. Look at his history and his records
