I agree with your assessment of these weapons. The only variance I made was upgrading the Rusty Spear to Mighty instead of Salty. I used the spear on a number of different bugs and the Termites were the only ones weak to Salty. But either way is a solid choice.

Lmmfaoooo I’m so disappointed no one else mentioned this! I had to rewind it like “ was that him or my neighbor “ that ish was loud and powerful! I covered my mouth I was so terrified. That is his greatest weapon 😭😂
All while keeping a straight face going over the viability of the Black Ox Crossbow 😂
The big negative about the sour staff is that the fully charged shot can ricochet and actually damage yourself as well as other players in multiplayer regardless of whether player damage is on or not.

I love the black widow fang with the poison armour set. I adore poisoning the annoying bugs in particular: fire ants; mosquitoes etc.
i finished grounded on mild/easy, but 4 me nr 1 weapon is the spicy staff, its grounded version of a grenade launcher, with white wizard mut. it applies burn(dot) and the explosion leaves a splat on ground that also damages any enemy standing in it, which is also great for crowd control as aoe of the blast is quite large. Staff can also be used to cheese mantis by standing behind the pillar and shooting on sides of pillar to hit mantis, sure dmg is resisted but alas mantis resist all but sour dmg.

I created 4 rusty spears with all different perks, but the bonus is when you add it to ur hotpouch, throw one and another pops up to be thrown.....im the Backyard Hunter
I like the spicy staff far more than sour, fully charged shots do huge damage and it has a chance to burn with the staff mutation. The sour staff shots travel so slow that it's mostly up to luck whether you hit or not, plus you have to back up after a charged shot or you might end up hitting yourself.
I mostly agree with this list but personally, I would put spicy staff in my top 5 in place of the rust spear, the spear is good but I see it more as my niche tool for killing termites than an all round great weapon.
Spicy staff is absolutely ridiculous.

Widow Spider and Termite Axe are my favorites.
The armor I've been testing is Broodmother Mask for that extra Poison Nova, Mantis Armor for bleed/stun on crits, legs either widow for extra poison damage, mantis for more effect.
Perks I switch around to test.
-Assassin to give daggers extra bleed damage, not sure if it stacks with mantis armor bleeding.
-Chopper to reduce enemy defense with termite axe. Sometimes I'll swing at an enemy to lower their defense, then spam away with widow. Or use widow to get the poison/bleed effect to proc, then hit with chopper for that extra stun/damage.
-Mom Genes isn't the best, but I love it. I accidentally kill them often tho. I like it since I'll spawn the spiders, which can take some aggro away so I can land safer hits, or if I'm outnumbered, it distracts some of the enemies. More damage from them too. Also for charging creatures like the Rhino Beetle, if there's a spider or enemy in the way, it stops it's charge. So spawning a spider, then slightly backing away is handy if I don't want to perfect block.
-Coup De Grass for that extra, since I swing often.
-Spicy Safety for more defense against the enemies I worry about more.
Last one I keep changing. Shocking Dismissal is fun to use when surrounded. Parry master for more stamina.
I want Trapper PEEP.R but it's probably the hardest perk to get. I'm only at 18 gold cards and it's a drag. Especially with Waft Emitter not working well.
My favorite is rust spear and sour staff
I wish you could block/parry with the bow, instead of Rclick just canceling your shot..
I use the Rust Spear for about everything, MANT and Assistant Manager. Didn't level it in any type of element.
i am really enjoying the toenail sword atm, has the infection damage, and high damage numbers.

If you paired the widow dagger with the mask, fire ant armor chest piece, widow legpiece and fire ant shield, you gonna aplied poison, venom, acid, corrosion and bleed, pretty op if you ask me
i just carry the candy weapons and the staffs then the tick weapon and i choose a boss weapon(and i always carry a crossbow)
edit: i forgot the 4 candy charms so i can have any candy buff i want
Do you think there is a way to make corrosion and bleed work together effectively? Might be a way to beat the black widow easier.
I like these weapons a lot, my favorite loadout is going to have to be ladybug armor and the tick bat alongside the pinch whacker if I get swarmed. Going to take note of the termites weakness to the stabby spear on salty for repair glue farming
I love the black widow dagger, it's my go to weapon, with black widow armor.
The spears also do more damage when you throw them
but you have to retrieve them mid fight.. constantly. kinda makes it too tedious for me
I have never been a dagger fan, but I actually must agree on the daggers placement it's absolut dps is insane
Im curious how the element trinkets could play a role in this. Say your tick sword for example. Is it better to go the spicy path. Or the mighty path while using the spicy candy trinket? Ive been wondering this if the upgrade paths for weapons is better or worse then mighty + the respective trinket.
Yeah I'm trying to figure out if using Thor's pendant or those candy trinkets are better . For overall damage
I think I'll stick with mighty; and use trinkets for salty, spicy, etc. (So far all I have found is salt... gotta go find more candies.) As for weapon selection; that will vary by enemy. Fireflies, bees, scarab beetles, weevils, aphids: the crossbow with splinter arrows. Simply because I can reach out and touch them at distance. Mosquitos: open with the bow to draw them in; then switch to tick blade. Most everything else I principally use the tick blade. (Except termites; which seem particularly resistant to it. There I use the termite ax.) I keep the spider fang dagger (not remotely ready to tackle a black widow yet) for backup and random underwater tasks.
There are still weapons I don't have, either because I don't bother (pretty much any two handed melee weapon) or haven't the materials to make yet. (staffs - I think I'll be trying the spicy staff real soon. Just got done with a raid on the fire ant hill.)

If you have, say, the sour battle axe and out on one of the flavor trinkets, will the axe do both types of damage?. Like sour and fresh?
Any weapons that already had a flavor dmg has to go through the mighty path and can’t add others like fresh.
i would say the fist is the best because lil fist, truffle tustle and a bunch of other things can make your fists op
What about the mint staff?? It legit carrys me through the uper yard its lvl 8 and it's splash with perk and wizard hat

Why would you makethe tick masachute spicy? Since thata just spicy slashing, which is the coaltana
One damage bar at tier two does more damage than one damage bar at tier one. Anything tier three regardless of damage rating almost always has a higher dps than something tier one or two.
Tier 3 mosquito rapier (salty) is insane to clear termites. I don't care about blocking attacks. I'm just spamming the attack button, even when there are 15 of them my life is always full. It's insane.
I use that with the ladybug armor (sleek) and beefy slop, i use the rapier on stinkbugs and bombardiers and spicy Tick sword on spiders. Sometimes I use the Biomedical Badge with a few meals like black ox burger or spider sliders to help with the hunger side effects.

Hey Sim so idk if you or anybody else knows this but for some reason Scythe of Blossom's is affected by the Assassin mutation instead of (or it could be as well as, I'm not sure) Blademaster/Barbarian even though it's not a dagger type weapon (I got Assassin 3/3 with a Scythe kill) so whether that has to do with the fact that the Mantis is called a "deadly assassin" or just a bug like how the Antlion Greatsword used to proc off both Blademaster and Barbarian?
Will this open up any synergy capabilities?

It's designed this way, the gamepass pays devs based on the AMOUNT of time ppl play their game. All the grind is on purpose. To keep you playing longer. This is how games are made now, all games released to gamepass will waste your time in some way. Gamepass is great, but this is a result of it.
Use the resource finder to find the super venom

Thats something you'll need to get used to. Some give none some give 2. I had to kill 6 just to get the 4 I needed for the dagger.
Make a save before you fight the widow and if you don't get venom just reload

I'm at 18 gold cards and it's tedious. I feel like I'm wiping out creatures at respawn.
Only two creatures I didn't Peep yet. One only spawns after you plug up the gas, but I don't know if it's worth it yet, and the last boss.

Questions. First is with recent patch, spiders are fully immune to poison now. Does this effect broodmother/black widows against this poison build/widow dagger? What damage does Sharpshooter add? It says it is chance to pin down.
Sharpshooter does not add damage

The poison build is insane I'm enjoying it
Club of the mother demon is easily the best, and no other weapons comes close. The speed means nothing when you can kill almost every single bug in the game it 3-5 combos. (Including black ox beetles and ladybirds)

@@evanater970 yeah, I saw. Un every situation, the club is the best with the right build. Other than the placement of the club, this list is 100% right. Obviously this is all dependent on playstyle, but even so, it will always win.
You can kill most enemies in a few combos with fast weapons. Most of the weapons in this game do not have a big of disparity of damage.

If I could only have one weapon in grounded it would be the spicy staff. If I could have two it would be spicy and mint staff. Give me a third and I'll add the rusty spear. Thats litterally all the weapons you need for EVERYTHING! Well and a fire ant shield for the spear, but thats not a weapon. ONLY armor you need is a wizard hat, spider shoulders and legs. I don't get this video. You talk about how termites are super weak to stabbing but then at the end it's the salty version. You know
Candy upgrades lose their base attack types right? So a salty rusty spear will only be salty and nothing else.

I just call it the tick-stick since nobody can pronounce or spell the... tick-stick thing
I generally run as the tank/skirmisher. I like carrying multiple spears to throw at the time of engagement, run in with the tick-bat/tick-stick to heal while retrieving said spears and draw aggro, then repeat the process
