People like to complicate things. Other people told you that you dont need to remove all these trims to remove CAS, for a reason. Just remove 3 screws from the bottom and remove the cover above pedals and that's all. The only difficulty if you do it that way, is to unscrew the bolt which holds the CAS module in it's place but all you need is just to be patient by loosening it, it will take a time doing this from that point.

I'm thinking of buying a kit on eBay of cas3,key, DME ECU. My question is: is it necessary to program something after changing all this or will it just be plug and play?

Needs lots of programming. Honestly better to just repair your current DME or buy a replacement DME and have them clone your current one.
