In fact I saved up enough money just in a mere 4 months to buy a half decent car as well, and I still had a lot left in my bank. As you can see it's pretty good here, but people get complacent and maybe lose touch of how good it is, until they realise over in Russia there are some people who work for an hour who can barely use their hourly wage to even buy themselves 2 meals.
I lived in San Francisco, groceries easy exceed 300 a week for 2 people. No take out and no snacks, just the basics. Rent is over 1k for one person flat. I'm from Serbia and I travelled to Russia in September 2023, stayed there for 2 week. I brought with myself 1500EUR because I knew Visa cards don't work there and I expected St Petersburg is more expensive than my city (Novi Sad, the 2nd largest city in Serbia), but it wasn't the case at all! Grocery prices in Russia are like pre-inflationary prices in Serbia, in 2020 or so. Everything was less expensive than in Serbia. For example, I was able to find a regular size Milka chocolate for $0.7 in a supermarket; metro ride costs just $0.5, bus $0.25,; I was able to find 'Rossyia' chocolate for just 59RUB, that's 0.6EUR, and McFlurry in Vkusno and Tocka (ex-McDonald's) costs only 1.35EUR. NOTE: I was in a 5 pjaterochka supermarket Also, some prices were SHOCKING LOW: on Rosneft gas station I saw the price of gasoline of 95 octanes $0.6 per liter; overnight stay in the hotel Ismailovo in Moscow was just 25EUR per night; and I paid my airline ticket from St Petersburg to Moscow only 36EUR (Rossyia Airlines/Aeroflot). 😉👍

The income in America is very different, depending in what state your are living for a certain job. But I do not understand why Tucker Carlson was interested in the prices for food in Russia. It is more important what percentage of your income you spend on food, which is much lower in America. Nice interview with your baker-friend. Who wants to live in a dictatorship?

The funniest laugh out loud moment was the shopping cart incident acting as if Russia had this amazing shopping cart idea when it's been in Western countries for at leasr 20 plus years. Carlson knows that. He also knows that American wages are far higher than Russian wages. The puzzled jaw dropping look on Carlson's face whilst your President waffled on doing his version of history was absolutely priceless. As for food prices compare the Russian state pension to the American state pension. I am no defender of American policies by any means, but just go compare Russian state pensions. But Carlson won't mention any of that, he just marvels at a coin in a cart. It was comedy gold.
UK shopping carts have used the return coin system for years....he said it as though it was some great innovation - exposed himself as the rich guy he is who has never got his hands dirty shopping!
@@Deathstroke-r7h LOL. The coin deposit system was never widely used in the US before introduced by Aldi. Where did you shop in the US that had to remove it? Hi Ivan Thank you for a fantastic channel. A poor paid cleaning job in Denmark is around 22 US dollars pr. hour + 12,5 % money for holliday + more if you work overtime (more than around 37 hours pr. week) + more during night + more if you work saturday and sunday. We pay a high tax but we all enjoy Free education, helthcare, pension and a "safetynet under our economy" if something happens, no job, your sick or anything else and much more. We have money to eat to much and also money to take some medicin to loose waight. ;-)
We had Grocery carts in Canada with the money for over 30 years. We also had a Chain of mega/big Grocery Stores like that in the 1970s and 1980s, but they were not very popular, and those stores were losing money, due to food expiry dates.
I am the Husband in the Family, we are a family of five (2 Adults and 8,10 &12). I do all the shopping and what he had on the cart lasts us a day. Those smoked chickens I have bought in our stores because I wanted to give the cooking/Wife & I a break and those 2 chickens would not be enough for supper. The bag of potatoes (looked like 10 lbs) is enough for 2 suppers. The whole Carlson/Moscow shopping was so unrealistic it was funny, however unfortunately the Orange caps are not good at math and do not look that hard. They just believe him.
The idea of putting a coin into the shopping cart in order to guarantee its return is nothing new here in the US. Here in Florida, stores like Aldi and Save A Lot have the same approach to this and it wouldn't surprise me if there are more stores in my State that do this. BTW, I do hope that Tucker "Sucker" Carlson moves to Russia.
The cart bit is fricking hilarious! Isn't this something every supermarket in the world has?!!! Re prices....Russians earn a third on average of US employees!
This is proof that Tucker is a spoiled rich kid. " WOW coins in shopping carts - how amazing Ruzzia is!".. and then he proceeds to explain something that was invented in 1937, and has been widely used for decades. "WOW you can get this and that - how amazing this bread is!" ..and then proceeds to smell some total ordinary bread packed in plastic. "WOW how cheap it is compared to the US!" ..and then jump to conclusion it is because "Ruzzia good - USA bad" - while pricing differences are totally normal are all over the world. No mention of PPP and Ruzzian average salary is way lower than in the US. And so on... In conclusion Tucker never shops or cooks - he will pay other people to do that. Its pathetic to watch his poor acting. But millions of gullible will eat this up. That's the foundation of any fascists state. I never thought this would happen in the US though....
Your interview with your friend was really cool and fun. Thanx for that. Can you do more with like other people, mechanics, plumbers and so on. Thank you!!
Crimea is actually very dry, quite poor for agriculture like grapes without irrigation. The Russians were stealing the water from Ukraine in the main canal, and part of the reason for the invasion was to secure this water source permanently. The Russians blew the dam, I don't think the canal works anymore, so no more cheap Crimean wine. Those bottles may have been pre-war vintage?
Crimea was always part of Russia. It was Khruschev during the USSR when for organizational reasons changed the boarders moving the Crimea into the Ukraine. The Russian navies main base remained in the Crimea and the Crimea remained the main vacation destination for Russians. As far as Khruschev was concerned, it was always one big country.

Ivan, You're correct on your observations, for example when I go to the store for groceries for two it runs between $75- 130 a week and that's not even a shopping buggy full maybe half full ( soups, bread, sausage, eggs, cheese, water, cat items - food and litter, maybe pop "soda" 12 pack, frozen biscuits and frozen breaded chicken breast.) Tucker Carlson i believe is trying unsuccessfully to demonstrate how bad the US is in places because of poor leadership. Your friend would make perhaps $1,300 a month or more in my area making the same ( ballpark figures).
In thenpart of the UK im in a baker like that guy would get 30k a year starting wage in a supermarket ,at a specialist baker 40k and thats sterling GBP so in dollars 55k
Yeah, I agree. This was an unsuccessful attempt to show high prices for groceries. I can't believe the big deal he made regarding baked bread - has he never seen that before? Our typical grocery bill for two is $100 to $135 for about a 2/3 full cart. If I'm doing the shopping, I tend to splurge more (Dungeness crab is half price this week!!) so closer to the $140 mark. Then I usually have to make a second trip to buy the stuff that *she* wants. Just had one of those rotisserie chickens this week --- was also on sale at $6. Tucker has become an absolute jerk but I still find comedy relief in his "I am pretending to be intently listening to you" facial expressions.
$103 is more than 5 days of work in Russia. In the US 5 days of work even at minimum wage ($7.25/hr) is $290 and most jobs start at much more than that say $15/hr which would be $600 a week. When Tucker says a family of 4 buys $400 a week worth of groceries in the states, he's NUTS! I have a family of 4, depending on where you shop (at least for us) its somewhere around $250 a week which includes diapers and formula! He bought no vegetables besides a big squash/pumpkin, no meat to actually cook meals, no eggs, no milk, no cheese etc.
The pumpkins were a weird purchase-maybe Tucker was thinking about decorating for Halloween. We do that in the US, especially if there are kids, but there are cheaper Halloween decorations to buy. But I did like seeing the inside of a grocery store in Russia. Thanks for your commentary about Russian expenses.
You have a valid point about “relevance” of earned income and the cost of living … Tucker found what he was looking for with the income he makes 😂…Here it isn’t unusual to have multi-generations occasionally live together to survive, or renting out a room to pad the income, I am sure it happens there as well… The interview which I could not sit through and watch was the most boring journalism I had ever seen 😳, there was nothing more than old history… then again, I don’t think Tucker wanted to fall out a window 😂
i can relate 100% with you Ivan! Here in Singapore, tourists and expats come over for a short time and were not subjected to the "system" from the time of their birth and are full of mush with the compliments! this is a warning from Singapore, an openly misandryist authoritarian state! here only male citizens and offenders are subjected to forced conscription and caning! fight forced conscription of men as this is a blatant human rights violation and misandry! the human, civil and workers rights record is abysmal, and the state media was once ranked as lowly as 160th and there is no criticism of the establishment allowed to be published/broadcasted!

I just recently started watching videos about Russia! The first that shocked me was the cost of things in Russia compared to USA. Other vloggers go into stores regularly and some post about property taxes. Just as an example: my property taxes in Texas on 2 acres and a house are 3,000. A year. Does not count my sales tax, registration for my car( road taxes) everything here is taxed! I could live much cheaper in Russia! I was just like Tucker when I first found out how people live in Russia
Tucker Carlson has lost his mind. Those groceries he bought would have been $150 maybe $200 if he is shopping in a big city. It is so funny that Americans really think that who happens to be running the country has such a great impact on the economy. IT DOES NOT! The whole world is seeing high levels of inflation. This is not because of the Democrats or Joe Biden.

NOTE: I was in a 5 pjaterochka supermarket
Also, some prices were SHOCKING LOW: on Rosneft gas station I saw the price of gasoline of 95 octanes $0.6 per liter; overnight stay in the hotel Ismailovo in Moscow was just 25EUR per night; and I paid my airline ticket from St Petersburg to Moscow only 36EUR (Rossyia Airlines/Aeroflot).

Your content has changed lately, I like it, thank you.
Excellent reporting Ivan, really good and proper comments for Tucker's clip! Thank you
This is proof that Tucker is a spoiled rich kid.
I wonder how much Putler administration paid Tucker for his nonsense.😮

Your interview with your friend was really cool and fun. Thanx for that. Can you do more with like other people, mechanics, plumbers and so on. Thank you!!
Ukranian wine actually, from occupied Crimea.
Messandra winery? We went there in 2011.lots of very old wines underground
Russian Crimea
Crimea was always part of Russia. It was Khruschev during the USSR when for organizational reasons changed the boarders moving the Crimea into the Ukraine. The Russian navies main base remained in the Crimea and the Crimea remained the main vacation destination for Russians. As far as Khruschev was concerned, it was always one big country.

Ivan,
You're correct on your observations, for example when I go to the store for groceries for two it runs between $75- 130 a week and that's not even a shopping buggy full maybe half full ( soups, bread, sausage, eggs, cheese, water, cat items - food and litter, maybe pop "soda" 12 pack, frozen biscuits and frozen breaded chicken breast.) Tucker Carlson i believe is trying unsuccessfully to demonstrate how bad the US is in places because of poor leadership.
Your friend would make perhaps $1,300 a month or more in my area making the same ( ballpark figures).
Anyone but Biden Harris
In the US it's normal to buy whole, cooked (baked) chicken and eat it for a dinner instead of buying a raw chicken and cooking it yourself.
Tucker isn’t allowed out of his cage very often. He is a joke in the US and even Putin agreed. I’m loving your new content.
Who lets him out ?
$103 is more than 5 days of work in Russia. In the US 5 days of work even at minimum wage ($7.25/hr) is $290 and most jobs start at much more than that say $15/hr which would be $600 a week. When Tucker says a family of 4 buys $400 a week worth of groceries in the states, he's NUTS! I have a family of 4, depending on where you shop (at least for us) its somewhere around $250 a week which includes diapers and formula! He bought no vegetables besides a big squash/pumpkin, no meat to actually cook meals, no eggs, no milk, no cheese etc.
Legend Post Ivan !!!
My sister is now in love with the baker 😊
That is good money

I just recently started watching videos about Russia! The first that shocked me was the cost of things in Russia compared to USA. Other vloggers go into stores regularly and some post about property taxes.

car( road taxes) everything here is taxed! I could live much cheaper in Russia! I was just like Tucker when I first found out how people live in Russia
Tucker Carlson has lost his mind. Those groceries he bought would have been $150 maybe $200 if he is shopping in a big city. I do agree that the cost of living has gone out of control here with this administration but that was a bit dramatic. Ivan you made your point..and you made sense. Tucker C needs to go shopping with his wife, maid..whoever the hell does it before doing what he just did. UUUGGGHHHHH.
tucker's shtick is mock indignation. easiest way to grift the fatally aggrieved and intellectually stunted. the economy is actually quite good. the administration has nothing to do with inflation other than appoint a fed reserve chair. thank your favorite brands and their institutional shareholders for the inflation. DOW 40,000!!!!
It is so funny that Americans really think that who happens to be running the country has such a great impact on the economy. IT DOES NOT! The whole world is seeing high levels of inflation. This is not because of the Democrats or Joe Biden.
200$ maybe in Connecticut.
Do you really believe that the current administration has caused prices to rise? That is NOT the case!
And before the ruble went down following the invasion, the dollar exchange rate would have been less favorable, so it would have cost nearly the same.
We have the coin shopping carts at many places in the USA! Aldi, Lidl, etc!
Tucker seems like the kind of guy that hires people to shop for him. Every Aldi's has the coin locks taking a single quarter. It seems mostly to be propaganda as people try to point blame to why everything is expensive.
