  • Minecraft isn't the same game as it used to be... why is that? Too many updates or are we blinded by nostalgia? Minecraft is a special game that's near and dear to my heart, his video comes from the same place. I hope you enjoy :)

I've been playing for 5-6 years, I'm 64. I play almost everyday. I recently got a texture pack, that was fun, I was putting different blocks together, the world looked new, and yet I knew how things worked. I've been trying to make more farms but I really like doing "chores". I still haven't fought the dragon, but I will. I do get to play with a friend once in a while and that's fun too. I also really enjoy your videos, so thank you!

I'm 45 and play every day! 95% of the time is with my 8 year old son, but I do play by myself sometimes. I just love Minecraft. We've only been in since last July just after 1.19 dropped, but my son likes to say we've been playing for "3 or 4 years". LOL! That's how much we've played in the last 11 months. We play on Bedrock exclusively, and we play vanilla survival, total creative mode, lots of addons from mcpedl, and Marketplace purchases.

I'm 44 and little flame for about 3 years. I have not fought the dragon I actually don't progress towards the end. For me it's about relaxation. If I play with somebody it's usually my son. He's 25 and been playing since its conception. But it'd be nice to play with other people in my age right now.😅

I’m over 50, and really enjoy playing alone or with my son or my nephew… Survival always… so inspired by all the possibilities the game has to offer; and for videos of other players like you Marloe! Always learning, always trying something new and fresh - trying to keep that beginners eye, which is so important in irl.

As someone who hasn't been playing Minecraft very long (1.15 was the first version I played, just before the release of 1.16) that nostalgia factor isn't really the same for me. However, this video does give me some wonderful ideas for mixing things up a bit and just enjoying the game in different ways. Plus the cinematic feels are wonderful!

I was about 13 when I first got Minecraft in 2012 just like you. It felt like a dream when I played it. Infinite possibilities and plenty of friends to play with. Now I’m 24, I find it hard sometimes to come up with new ideas because my imagination isn’t what it used to be. I do the same thing as many people: progress like normal, go to the nether, enchant gear, fight the ended dragon, take a long break, then rinse and repeat. This time is different though! I joined a realm hosted by one of my best friends, and have played on it for several months! I actually kept playing after I beat the ender dragon. I built a ton of item and mob farms, built a racetrack and have been doing things I’ve never done before. Minecraft TH-camrs like you have really helped me stay invested in the game. There are so many awesome ideas that people come up with and I feel like I learn something new everyday. Thank you for supporting the Minecraft community! It means a lot to so many people including me!

I do believe that the essence of the minecraft as game is pretty simple
You are there, free to do what you please
theres no main quest, theres no set up goal from the start and theres no pressure
you mine your own block and found your own way to play it
mods, datapacks and other type of custom features are a plus to what this game can show to you... giving the proper effort in searching for it

Yesterday I was going through an old box of books when I came across a Minecraft book from 2013. I had read that thing front to back when I was a kid, and looking through it again almost brought a tear to my eye. I never thought something like Minecraft could make me so nostalgic. I remember how I’d take it to school and always be looking through it, so excited to go home and boot up the Xbox 360 and play some Minecraft. Ever since Microsoft bought Mojang, the game hasn’t been the same. It really makes me sad to see a game I loved so much growing up ending up a Microsoft cash grab with a million micro transactions now. I suppose all good things must come to an end.

I remember the first house I built in Minecraft. It was simple, good enough for me... until my ex-boyfriend ramped it up and it felt less homey hahaha. I remember the times when I was mining coal, iron and doing research back then. I started playing 2015, went off for a while then went back playing Minecraft. Never stopped playing since then. Yes, the nostalgia is there and Minecraft constantly changes that's why it's so fun. I am an explorer but recently tried out redstone farms and now I can't remove them from my playstyle anymore. My builds still suck but hey, they serve some purpose right? And that's what matters the most. Thank you for this video Marloe. It made me appreciate all the times I have played in this wonderful game, may it be solo gaming or with friends.

I agree with everything you say, actually. On some days, I just start a new world, only to explore the hell out of it and then quit it for good, just to have the feeling of excitement again ^^ On my server world instead, I build things, those are made to last (the largest project being Hogwarts and surroundings, which I built with a buddy of mine, it turned out so fabulous, if I may say so myself ^^). And when some poeple join me, it's even more fun. I just love every aspect of that game. There is something in it for everyone. :)
And I LOVE that crazy april snapshot this year, if anyone hasn't troed it yet - do it, best case scenario with some friends :D

My last playthrew i started on a mushroom island with a sappling and a few seeds. I found it a fresh experience to be limited in a few resources for the early game. I converted some villagers and now im starting to get to midgame.
Not having hostile mobs also makes it a lot harder.
Mushrooms give stew and can be farmed like cows so they are actually a prety good animal to farm. You can even shear them.

    Minecraft hasn't been Minecraft
Without hunger games and the Roleplays and Machinimas, Minecraft has been declining for a while.
I mean, remember the days of the golden age.
    Hunger Games.
    The. Minecraftian.
    Thw HeroBrine Lake/the Haunting.
    The Sgc barbarian crafting dead.
    The newscapepro fallout.
But it's not too late. WE can have this content once again bring back the roleplays and replace hunger games with bed wars.
We can bring a golden age once again.

God i remember back in the beginning maybe a year or so after the game released. We got a single account for me and two siblings to share, so we agreed we’d make separate worlds. The other two immediately figured out building and color palettes, while my first ever home. And I remember this well, was dug into the mountain. I had simply just dug in and started to carve 1x2 tunnels around, making a few spots bigger for things like. A bed, chest and furnaces. It was very simple but it was my own cave, I remember despite not having much of a builder in me. I had to rebuild the side of my mountain so often cause a creeper got to close to my open windows. Blasting open my cave to the outside, i don’t remember how but eventually I had been killed and respawned back at world spawn, I looked around in despair. Not able to remember which way I had gone, I was so sad I had abandoned that world l… I still remember it’s layout and everything. It was a fun few days I had with it. And honestly despite how simple it was, I had grown to love it…. All these years later I still can’t build a decent house for the life of me. Give me a box or redstone and I’ll show you a master. Give me blocks you’ll see the like… 11? Year old mentality of building. I use build guilds cause I just can’t figure it out myself.

I haven't been playing as long as you have, that is for sure. I wasn't really into it at first, thought it was just a silly kid's game with terrible graphics. Who wants to play with blocks? It was Paul Soares Jr's 'Survive and Thrive' that changed my mind about minecraft. Once I understood the mechanics of survival minecraft, I was hooked. I started watching creators like Mythical Sausage and A1most Addicted. I found Wattles and he is just so entertaining to watch. I was never really into Hermitcraft that much, something about it being so popular made me wonder if it was really worth watching.. you know, I kinda hate trendy stuff, but then I stumbled across one of Scar's videos and now I love watching him. Guess I really was scarred for life, lol! Then I found Pix and BDubs and then I found you, along with a few others along the way. I have learned so much and had so much fun following along with all the Minecraft creators. I have gotten a little better at building but I really love the adventure aspect of the game. For me there isn't that nostalgia as I didn't play the game as child but there are some aspects of the game that I miss. I miss when updates were a surprise, when you opened a brand new world and went exploring to find out all the new features. There wasn't all the hype and expectations that there is now. I don't think I will ever get bored of this game, there is always something new to do and creators like you that keep me inspired. I play with very few mods, I like to check them out every now and then but I'm really a vanilla player, optifine, glowing ores and I enable the bundle-{although I always feel guilty murdering the cute little bunnies} is pretty much all I've got going on. I may check out Vanilla Tweaks though. Thanks for all the inspiration and I appreciate all the hard work that goes into your videos!
