Building in Minecraft is a literal art.
Getting better takes time, alot of attempts and trial and errors. A build takes time and no rush.
You can get tips and inspiration from others, and get your own style later on.

Honestly I find building in mc quite stressful especially on survival it takes alot of motavation and convincing to build something great but in the end you can look back and say “ yeah I did that”

FYI, for everyone : at 16:35 he said that string works. But now in 1.18 you can just right click with a hoe on most plant types ( like bamboo or nether vines, kelp etc. ) to make them stop growing. It’ll help you if you’re short on string and thought maybe it would be something you should know

Another thing that Bedrock doesn't include is the fact that you can only have armor stands on top of snow layers if there are four or more layers, which is the exact height of a slab, so it would be too tall. I experimented and found that surprisingly a cauldron is a good replacement for that helmet on a crafting table one.

When working with unstripped logs, don't forget that you can use other materials that better match the color of the "bark." For example, spruce wood goes well with oak logs, dark oak with spruce, and diorite with birch.
You can also get the fog effect by alternating colors of stained glass instead of having air gaps. This also lets you achieve the same fog "density" in half the space, though you still need to use the same amount of glass. I also think it looks better since with the tighter banding on the edges of the stained glass area as each new layer starts stands out less to the eye than it does when using air gaps.
Another cool way to enhance the fog effect is to put lava under the glass. Not only does this provide light, but the animated pattern of the lava kind of looks "cloudy" and it can give a subtle cloudy look to the "fog."
I gotta say, I feel like an odd one out in that I t feel that most of the meta on how to build has, imo, strayed from MC's aesthetic strengths, and become overly detailed, noisy, and messy looking. Every building, especially small ones, does not need three block thick walls so you can incorporate ridiculous "dimension" into them. It doesn't need an obnoxious mix of blocks making up every surface, sometimes a wall should just be a wall, and not a weird collage of five different materials. Gradients are typically way over-done, and need to be subtler or on a larger scale to not look weird. Just as interiors can be super dense in design (I have a love of doing very small interiors, like even 2x3 bedrooms, and figuring out how to make them distinct time and again while incorporating sensible and varied interiors), they often shouldn't be. You need to give space to breathe.

A building tip for worn down/rotting builds that one is making, use a combo of moss and mangrove roots. It helps gives a convincing look that it is indeed looking worn down or unatable to be in.
For better context, a friend of mine wanted his home to look like it's rotting away and said we can use moss for it, but it was lacking a bit still even after tge moss was placed, so I decided to grab my mangrove root blocks and raplaced some of the logs that were there (they were spruce and oak). It made the place look so unstable that it looked kinda spooky and he loved the look!

    Personal tips:
    .
Don't overdo the "ruined" look for roads and buildings, UNLESS they're meant NOT to be lived in or used much. Doesn't look cool, just makes you look homeless.
    .
Don't clutter up details together. I generally find that any given detail/texture is best separated from any other by about 3 to 5 blocks. Any farther apart, and you get back to having a boring flat space...any closer and it's just annoyingly busy and tight. Be spacious. Minecraft is huge, use it.
    .
Be subtle. A detail overlooked is one appreciated long after it's finally noticed. One that smacks someone in the face immediately is quickly forgotten.
    .
The maker knows they have achieved perfection, not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

I was thinking when I read that because I tried to see if the new update added it but didn't 💀
It would be great if it was true 😔
In case you didn't know, you can now place pots and lanterns on trapdoors, just make sure the trapdoor is under the full block if that make sense 😉

I’ve played Minecraft since it came out, but I am just now getting into building. Currently I am trying to build a harbor base with an underground part to bedrock for travel, storage, and anything else you need in a base. Thanks for the tips.

I play Minecraft primarily for building things. I rarely wandering around the world beyond a couple thousand blocks away from my initial spawn as I have 3d motion sickness and it sucks.
Being able to play a game without having to complete any missions but still feel proud of your own achievement. "Yeah, I built that!"

As a pro builder myself I always love learning new tips and tricks, some I knew already and some I didn't. One thing I like doing is on pathways especially in lush caves I use Zulia plants in the ground as it adds variation and looks cool.

My ex and I are still best friends (we had been for 8 years before we dated) over the past couple years we’ve been exploring and building up a bedrock realm and recently we FINALLY explored enough of our world to find a cherry blossom biome that has a trial chamber below it and 2 villages within walking distance. Unfortunately we agreed that I would build this base by scratch and I’m struggling to not just find a tutorial on a build so I’m here watching decoration videos for help making our new house into a not blocky structure. Thank you so much for the video, I have a ton of options for what I can do to improve this build and it’s coming along very nicely.
