Been quite a lot of news to digest. One would have thought there would be something around the new film especially as the WarCom article ended with the film logo. And it feels like the Angmar goodies aren’t too far away. The positive is that whilst releases have been thin on the ground for a while now, it feels like we’re just about to enter a period of plenty.
I am getting into MESBG now. I have some goblins and a fellowship. I couldnt be more happy with the idea of a new edition. Angmar is cool but i also hope for more gundabad. Hopefully the Silmarillion lists get more love.
My guess would be that Buhrdur gets an updated profile in the supplement, which will then be used in the new rulebook. I'm thinking that scenario wise the supplements will remain up to date but profile wise you'd use the ones from the new books (as the suggested forces follow what comes in the boxes anyway).
So many questions, so little answers! Overall I’m hoping the new edition is just full of minor tweaks and no major overhauls. It wouldn’t make sense for the new supplement to not be compatible with the new edition, but I am very curious about the stats and wargear adjustments for every profile. Time will tell… thanks for another great video guys!
Thanks for the content guys! was surprised to hear 25ish points thrown around for the Werewolves. I reckon they will end up being around the 50-60 point mark and be comparable to a Warg Cheiftain without any might
It would have made more sence to have a Good and an Evil Armies books with alliance synergies. Where do you put Khazad-Dum, Angmar and Arnor, they are out of LOTR and the Hobbit. And Thranduil's Halls is in both. For Hills Trolls, it's definitly a 50mm base, if you compare with a Mordor Troll it's pretty obvious. And I think this is the reason we have a new Buhrdur.
Yeah, I like using my giant spiders in AoL and Moria/Mordor with the heroes that can take them but when I do I bring my old Khazad Dum book and just remember they have Terror now because for some reason they never included the profile in the LotR book, it's a bit of a mess.
My guess is Shadow of Rhudaur special rule may cancel ANY resistant to magic (and fortify spirit) effects from opponent models in e.g 6' bubble on the battlefield.
Really like the trolls, feel right, same with the Wraith. The Dunadin was fine, bit boring of a pose, but looked good, I liked tbe layers to his armor. But those Carin models, for me, is a no-go. I'll bet 20 bucks that that was a warband from AoS that didn't get released before GW killed that game, so just used the sculpts here. They don't look like the right scale for MESB, and are pretty over the top in their poses/wargear. Maces are a nice touch, but again, not really a LotR kinda weapon, but certainly in the realm of a Chaos Marauder warband. Rules could be fun, and I do like the look of the models, but not for this game, if that makes sense? Like, I like the look of Gumdam, but it doesn't fit for Battletech
I see what you are saying about the men of Carn Dum, very high fantasy-esque. But still, with so much great stuff it's hard to complain. The werewolves are a beauty too!
The new edition would have to align with War of the Rohirrim. More so than all the potential changes to the game, I’m most anxious to see if all the supplements become invalid.
Btw. if they would make starter set for Arnor aimed to the new supplement to encourage players to try their strength with this rarely used army AND include there new plastic Arnor infantry that would be huge! The first box I'd buy definitely!
The men of Carn Dûm look way too AOSified for me. They'd look ridiculous next to i.e. warriors of Rohan or warriors of Gondor. The rest of the miniatures are very decent.
@@TheSkullboy1996 I know. Those designs already had problems but they even hammed it up. And they weren't forced to aquire that licence to begin with. At all. Your point being?
Hopefully this new edition will remove the ally matrix so people cant just roll up on poor defenseless goblins with a watcher in the water backed up by 3 different armies.
Oof, it's true! May need to get him for my Frostgrave force... But yeah, this just reinforces my idea that these were not for Lord of the Rings, but were an AoS Warband before they killed that ga e off.

Definitely my favourite channel love mesbg and you help me through long car journeys

The Lotr/hobbit split could be due to copyright reasons, but yes, ideally all the profiles should be in one big book!

Oh, and the tactical rocks, that's completely Warhammer

Doesn't seem likely and hopefully that is not the case!

Angmar in October and the new edition in 2025 is my guess.

Agreed!
they're licenced and based of the models used in war in the north (video game) which is part of the same licence

Your point being?
I think we'll have to wait a while for the new edition (2025 Q2/3 probably?)
Possibly. It could also come much sooner to match the release of the new film!
Do they mention timelines for these releases?
Nothing yet, just pure speculation!

And to answer your question in the beginning: Arathorn is late 3rd age as hes Aragorns dad and this book has the FIRST Chieftain of the Dunedain.
Tom, Bert, and Bill are Hill Trolls so I imagine the new trolls will be on whatever they use.
I'd love to rematch at Nova again!

We need a Gildor and the exiles legendary legion with Froyo and Slam. All bows.
I think the right pronounciation for that model is "Medivh" 😂
I can't unsee this... 🤣 Can't believe I didn't know this, I miss Warcraft 3!!

Some constructive criticism, fellas - you all say ‘like’ in almost every sentence and it’s pretty grating.
