I love how so much of outer wilds speedruns is using the game's mechanics over some exploits. There's only the vessel clip used here and i think it's awesome! Truly a game in a league of it's own.
@nnelg8139 it's still a part of the code of the game, even if it's unrealistic. Otherwise, the whole game would be an exploit because, as far as we know, white holes don't even exist in our universe.
@@nnelg8139it's something that they coded intentionally though. A dev had the idea "let's have the scout have some recoil when the hatchling is in the air". No one had the idea "let's let the hatchling clip through the vessel door if they're flying backwards fast enough during the warp to the eye", at least I doubt they did. I think what the original commenter is saying is that it's cool the game doesn't need to be 'broken' very much at all to find new speedrunning tactics
...What if speedrunning is itself a loop? You get to the Eye, start the song, get Big Banged, credits roll, and then... you're back at the campfire, Orbital Probe Cannon launch number 9,318,054, as if none of what you did actually happened?
I'm always surprised that you can beat the game without ever going to Giant's Deep. You'd think the devs would want to randomize the coordinates for each playthrough or something so that you always have to go to the probe tracking module Is there a category that's just Any% but requires you to go find the coordinates?
The game still runs all the physics in the solar system while you sleep, so how fast time goes is limited by your computer. Because they don’t want to give people unfair advantages based on their computer specs speedrunners don’t count that time
at about that time is when all the warp towers on ash twin are revealed, + the sand column that goes over the twin towers to get into the atp is near the correct position

I would classify scout boosting as an exploit, albeit one that's a natural consequence of the recall violating conservation of momentum.
