Whoever came up with this category, great job. Also this speedrun is amazing, a lot of extreme precision moves made here.

We used the different deaths as defined in the game files for this category. In the game files, certain deaths (burning in fire, electrocution, ghost matter, etc.) are all counted as the same type of death (HP loss).

Question, what's the difference between impact and HP loss? As far as I'm aware impact just kills you by reducing your HP but in this run you decided to also jump into the campfire even after falling or is the initial impact not considered a death by the game or something?

We unlock the meditation by seeing Gabbro for the 2nd time, there is a new dialogue option that appears and which allows us to meditate until the end of the loop. He took advantage of his first obligatory passage to drown himself
Why did you leave a minute or so on the clock for the 3 supernova deaths? Seems like if you had slept until right before it engulfed you a few minutes would have been saved.
Could you save time for time loop death by sleeping on the stranger, since you can keep sleeping after the supernova music starts playing? Or does the time it takes to reach the stranger make it not worth it?

@@sebastiangrau8409 Not really, the stranger gets really far away from the solar system by the end of the loop. Besides, it's better to move talking to Gabbro the first time into that area instead.

Why did the timer stop after the dream explosion? It was only like 10 seconds but like, why tho? Are you not counting sleeping as part of your time? Also, isn't the speedrun missing Killed by an Owlin snapping your neck, being impaled by cacti, and the destruction of spacetime?
The timer _does_ stop during sleeping, which I believe is to level the playing field for consoles/PCs of various performance. The game actually simulates everything really fast during sleep, but with rendering turned off, and it's capped at a lower speed multiplier on console than PC (plus, if your PC is slow or lags that would affect the time as well). So the simplest way to account for the variation in time acceleration speed is to just not count it.
The paradox is an ending, hence why it's not a "death" as the game registers it. Ghost matter just kills you in the same vein as dying to the camp fire does.
We used all the unique deaths in the game's files to create the rules for this category, and in the game's files dying to ghost matter is considered the same as dying in the campfire (HP loss).

The signalscope is to get the right alignment to enter the geyser and get launched up to the launchpad

I’d assume it’s to give everyone equal footing. Having a better PC = the campfire time going faster. Nobody wants a pay to win speedrun.

No, this speedruns just uses the different types of deaths found in the files. If it’s not included there, it’s not in the run.

Super nova is unnecessary since that's what you already die to when you meditate.
The category is made by the deaths listed in the game's code. Meditation is distinct from actually experiencing the supernova in the files.
