    Why only this and Triumph? what is with Moto Guzzi, RE, they are in my opinion much more comparable with the air cooled engine in the retro market than Triumph.

    Great video. I am getting close to buying one for about 7500 US and am concerned about your lack of comfort on the seat. I am 6 feet tall and 190 lbs. I have a 30 Inch inseam and am curious; Do you have an average length torso ? Arms? The dealers here are tools and won't let you test drive the bike. All I can do is sit on it in showroom. Any thoughts? The Royal Enfield is a 3,000.00 bike marked up to 6000.00 in USA so I am not going to pay double when I can get a w800 street year 2020 for a little more.

      You are a very similar size and weight to me and I certainly did not find it comfortable. Infact a gent just over 5 foot commented on my video and also said the comfort was bad. For me it was the angle of the seat where it rises for the pillion, it gave me horrible lower back pain. I am yet to ride the Royal enfield interceptor 650 though so I can not comment on it I'm afraid

      Do not get me wrong the bike was a nice bike, well made and felt solid so I'm sure it would last. I've also seen some amazing deals on the cafe and normal w800. £2000 off the cafe! Mind you £9000 ish is crazy money for them. The main reason it wasn't for me was the seat, it angled my lower back at a weird angle and was really uncomfortable after a while. I would certainly change the seat if I bought one. I am around 6 foot tall, 16 stone with a 30 ish inch inner leg and it didn't fit my size well. I'm sure with a different seat it would change my opinion and the bike would be a cool little cruise around bike

      I never rode the v7 but the v85 was nice and comfy. I didn't notice the back ache straight away but I remember mentioning it in the video as it just started to ache. It was the arch from the rider seat to the pillion. If I'd of moved forward I'd of felt to close to the bars so my rear was at a weird angle

A 2015 kawasaki ninja h2 that is tuned to around 270whp,i rarely ride this, only in good weather for obvious reasons. I rarely know what bike I will be taking out at times. I tend to just go on what I feel in the moment more than the stats of a bike as most bikes are more than the sum of thier parts or numbers. I am in my 40s so I do understand the appeal of these retro bikes but they were before my time. Its a shame that I didn't have a good camera set then but I did believe a drift ghost 4k was a good camera. I was wrong! Maybe I may make another review of this bike as the camera ruined it for me

  • @grafholt1
    @grafholt1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I owned the 2011 model of the W800 and i made a testride with the new model. And for my opinion the new model drives better, more stability, better working brakes with ABS and a much better sound. Yes, the price is a bit high but the W was always a bit more expensive than other motorcycles. And used older models of the W are pretty much expensive, espacially the W650 costs up to 5000€ ( here in Germany), and this for over 12 years old motorcycles. And that applies too for the first W800 model. So if you think it‘s better to buy an older model you should notice that there are expensive too. You can imagine that if i tell you that i sold my W800 to the dealer and he give me the new model for the half price. Or in other words, ibought it in 2014 for 5500€ and now i sold it for 4800€, that‘s unbelievible....

      Hi Daniel, I can't comment and be 100 percent on how the bike will fit and feel to you, I'd advise you to sit on one and try the bike to make sure. But I will say that the bike was very low for me, didn't have a wide seat and was light enough to maneuver easily. I think you will be fine with it and it will probably suit you more than me because I was just a bit big for it! I liked thd bike though, it is one of those bikes that makes you feel good as you ride around but you don't need to go fast at the same time. @@deadbugdavey1744 I'm 5'9" tall (180cm) and a lightweight at 142lb. The suspension is perfect for me and so is the seating position. I agree with Davey that the W800 is a simple bike that's easy to ride and you don't have to go real fast to enjoy the ride (mind you, it has good torque). If you are looking for revy short stroke horsepower, this is not your bike. Unlike modern Triumphs and RE Interceptors this is a long stroke 360 degree crank engine (like the iconic Brit bikes of the '60s and '70s). This gives these bikes a distinct sound and character, the bevel driven top end is the icing on the cake.

      The bike will definitely suit someone smaller than me. I noticed seating position issues for someone my size, if I was smaller the bike would of been fine. The engine isn't going to rip your arms off but it's got nice usable power that is nice to use. There are deals to be had on this bike now, because people's issues were always about cost! Yes it's expensive if you can't find a deal but I've seen new bikes with thousands of pounds off!

    I recently bought one and put a sidecar on it. It is the perfect bike for doing that and i've owned over thirty bikes in my riding career. But even this bike is not perfect. Problem no 1 is battery removal is a flipping nightmare. I store my bike for 6 months of the year due to winter and it is a nightmare to remove the battery. The amount of plastic clips used to hold on the side covers is a bloody joke, and yearly replacement of the breakable plastic clips is truly laughable. Other than that the installation of a rear rack is very troublesome as the rear riding handles are a nightmare to remove.I still like te bike but find it to japanese for my liking.

      @@deadbugdavey1744 luckily Kawasaki has a motorcycle in both categories. The W800 a true retro classic (like Moto Guzzi and Royal Enfield) and a modern retro Z900rs (like Triumph, BMW, Ducati ect)

    It's hard to beat the looks and smooth engine of the Triumph.

    was looking forward to a review of this model. Have to say disappointed with the styling. The older model looked nicer.
    As for the price, rather high. The sales figures will be pretty poor. Shame was really looking forward to it.

      I was way off with the cost in the video! God knows where I got the figures from. I liked the bike but I still feel like it's really expensive at 8 grand. I agree with you, I think sales will be low! You can get a clean old one for around 5 grand and they all have low mileage. I'd buy an older one. Thanks for the view and comment mate

      Have to agree with you about the styling of this new model. I bought a 2nd hand 2015 W800 last year and I think the styling is just so much nicer. When I saw these EURO4 models first I was a little horrified. I think they just took the front light from the Z900RS...looks a little out of place with the rest of the retro styling. Tank on the old model is 100 times nicer too.

      The Interceptors aren't as retro as the W800 as it has a short stroke 270 degree crank engine. Definately good value and a fun bike but different character. If you want a classic Brit bike but don't want to mess with carburetors and deal with drum brake stopping power etc. the W800s are the closest bike in character that you can get (but with modern reliability). If you would like the character of a modern 1973 Honda 350, the Interceptor may be your bike.

    That gas tank is hideous. What happened to the beauty of the previous W800?
