    Great video!, in my experience, the rider input is what matters the most, if Valentino Rossi rides that bike, he would smoke a lot of jixxers, If my grandmother rides it, she will go slow and easy, the bike is a tool after all, you can push it to the limit or let it relax, but yes, this bike screams relaxing on twisty roads and around the city. If i buy it, I would use it to commute, a little bit of off-roading, and highways. Because I´m like that. Unorthodox and happy:)

    Good video, the W800 has got a very pleasant exhaust tone even with stock pipes (even better on exceleration). I would almost buy it for the excellent design of the headlight alone! Interesting looking bike, quite handsome

    I see Kawasaki have fitted the high bars again.

    • @dougfielding8215
      @dougfielding8215 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      When I sat on the bike in the show room everything felt exactly right for my 5'9 height. Kawasaki is offering a third W800 model with mid height bars (between Street model height and Cafe racer height). It has chrome fenders, unpainted engine, white piping on the seat and shiny metallic paint on the tank and side covers (red in some countries, green in others, I believe.) It also has a 19 inch front wheel rather than the 18 inch found on the Street and Cafe versions. What this excellent reviewer says, is my experience also with exactly the same model of bike he is testing. Also reflecting my experience is an excellent video by Dino's Vault. I found the W800 faster and smoother than I was anticipating. As you can tell, I'm a proud owner of this excellent and fun machine and highly recommend it.

    • @BlazinBlades
      @BlazinBlades 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doug Fielding I’m falling in love with this machine. I own a new Z900 but want this classic bike as my second bike.
      Thank you for pointing out the wheel size differences. I prefer the 19” front.
      Cheers
      BB 🍻

      That particular bike is the Street version without much chrome and higher handle bars. The Standard version, which I have, has lower handlebars and a lot of chrome. I installed 20mm bar risers and it made it more comfortable. Mechanically they are the same. They also made a Cafe version with clubman bars and and a small faring as well as a smaller front wheel. Not my cup of tea. My bike is a 2022 so it has a red tank and black side covers like the 1969 Bonneville. I like it a lot. They are very easy and forgiving to drive and have enough power for proper road use. They are not race bikes however.

    • @dougfielding8215
      @dougfielding8215 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To wish this bike had more power tells me you haven't ridden it. It's a lot faster than I thought it would be. It definately outperforms what the spec sheets may have you believe, mostly because of the torquey engine.

    • @seanfrank4158
      @seanfrank4158 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right....I haven't ridden it. However...I do ride a bike with considerably more HP and torque and I've gotten used to that kind of performance. While the W800 is undoubtedly a wonderful bike...I just wish the performance numbers were better....

      today pro - Very different features, the W800 has 360 degree crank with counter balancer, simple air cooling, bevel drive top end and a long stroke engine. The T100 Bonneville is water cooled, 270 degree crank giving it a different feel and sound, chain driven top end and a short stroke engine. Similar looks but some very different features and personality. I liked the bevel driven cams, sound, feel and soul of the W800 better so I bought it and really love it.

    Only one mistake on an otherwise beautiful bike: that UGLY/AWKWARD rear disc brake!
    They should have had a look at the new Triumph Bonnevilles: the rear disc caliper and associated hoses are tucked in behind the frame, and all you see is the disc itself.
    As it is I prefer the old W800/650 drum brake in the rear - at least so far as looks go.

      @@nickspacey4652 This bike (the Street) is carried over unchanged for 2020 along with the Cafe. The bike you are referring to is the Classic. Available in Red in some countries, green in others. In North America it is offered in red. The Classic is prettier but the Street has more attitude and looks tougher. Both are handsome machines.

    • @dougfielding8215
      @dougfielding8215 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kirk Knighton - Yes, they could have mounted the caliper under the swingarm. I don't mind seeing the caliper mind you. I looked at it closely on my W800 and noticed that to mount the caliper under the swing arm they would have to widen the splay of the exhaust pipe significantly to have a caliper clear it in it's travel. This makes the peashooters more tucked in and rounded (rather than indented).
