Well done West Somerset Railway for creation of a Lights' Spectacular. A technical achievement well conceived and executed. You and Val's patience rewarded, thanks for capturing so well and posting for us all to enjoy.. Initial steam discharge from loco only enhanced the situation.
First class footage at about 13:52 using your talents. 14:01 shows how this 1630 hours train was very well patronised. People came out of nowhere. Very good to capture at about 29:00 the train arriving at Crowcombe Heathfield. Hard to do for some, but not for you. A very enjoyable video. Apparently these trains were a big success for WSR.
I bet Stephenson didn't have this in mind when he introduce passenger trains to our railways, never the less it's an impressive sight. I wonder what motorists thought who saw it without knowing what it was all about? thanks for sharing this video Mike and well done to the railway for going the extra mile to let people know they are there and ready to take excited children for a ride in an amazing train. Cheers. Tim.
What a beautiful sight if only it ran all the way to minehead dont really understand the reason not to do this there is a brand new seaward way crossing now
@@ADMIRALSCORNER Perhaps related to the maxim that young children get bored, hungry, tired and "I want to go to the toilet' after a relatively short time. I assume though the cars were heated?
I was at Crowcombe to see it arrive and depart. Very impressive sight. Shame it was only a short journey, do you know if any longer ones planned in the future?
Looks good. Thought there might of been more people out watching at the stations & bridges last night there. Looks quite quiet…. Hopefully will pop down & watch at some point. Do u know roughly what evening dates it’s running?
I was on the bridges, platforms and one of the trains and it was actually extremely well attended by both passengers and photographers/casual observers. You must have chosen a quiet spot 🙂
How embarrassing. Over shooting the platform by 3/4s of a train length. The lads in the shed will be rolling on the floor for ages and that driver will never live it down. Thank you for sharing Mike

Yes very untypical Tim! But still an impressive sight which is raising a lot of interest and bringing in much needed money for the railway.
@@ADMIRALSCORNER It sounds like just the sort of thing needed to get passengers back, I hope it is the resounding success it deserves to be.
I really need to see one of these light trains in person, they look amazing. I know some people aren't a fan but tickets keep these railways running!
So true!

I still think that is a strange decision too!

I am afraid there are no such plans.

It was a dark night so it was difficult to see how many people were there watching! The next running dates are today 20 November and 26 and 27.
@@ADMIRALSCORNER 26th 27th this month thanku.
Will try to get to see this train.
A bit distracting as it passes close to road. In fact a bit of a traffic hazard.

The train stopped precisely where the train was meant to stop 👍
