    Whoever are responsible for keeping all the stations in such wonderful condition with delightful flower beds full of blooms should be highly commended for their efforts. Certainly went that extra mile. Those maintenance workers also have to be praised for keeping all carriages and rolling stock in pristine condition which adds to the joy of watching this lovely video.

      The people who look after the stations take real pride in what they do and in between trains they'll make you a cup of tea/coffee and chat about the railway. I'm sure the railway's staff will appreciate your kind comment.

      Hi, I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride. TH-cam is a great place to find "Driver's Eye" videos, once only available on VHS tapes or DVD's, they are now freely available here, a lot of people including train drivers have started posting videos over the past few years such as RailCowGirl, dulevoz, TrainJJ and many more, the choice is awesome, I love to watch them.

    Hi tim,A wonderful example how to restore a closed line,I wish our folk down under would show the same passion as the brit's at opening some of many disused lines take care cheer's bob.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robert, saving and keeping this line running is down to a relatively small band of very dedicated volunteers, who willingly give up their free time to undertake all kinds of tasks from track and line-side maintenance to engine driver or any one of the myriad of jobs in between. They are aided by a small number of full employees who bring the necessary business and legal skills to the railway. In many cases the local councils actively back these lines because they bring tourists in who spend money not just on taking a train ride, but in the community as a whole on things like accommodation, eating out and other tourist attractions. It is thanks to these people that the UK has a thriving heritage railway sector. Australia does have some wonderful heritage railways, trouble is they are often far apart as a result of the sheer size of Oz. Take care. Tim.

      Hello Keith, I'm glad you enjoyed taking a virtual ride with me along this wonderfully restored railway. Your videos have given me a lot of pleasure over the years and it's nice to be able to give something back. As a glass half full sort of guy, I'm sure you will continue to make the most of every day. Where would we be without TH-cam? It has enabled us to make virtual friends with people we might otherwise never have known and to share our love of trains in a way that simply would not have been possible 20 years ago. "Smile Video" has been an inspiration to me, I'm saddened to learn that getting about has become more of a challenge to you, but I'm sure you will continue to live your best life. Kids use the word “respect” a lot these days and I'm going to use here. Respect and Best wishes. Tim.

      Hi, I would love to have seen the line back in the days when it was still operated by British Rail using steam traction, although I did travel over the line in a DMU in BR days. Hello, if you do make to the UK, this railway brilliantly portrays the heyday of holiday trains in the 50's and 60's to Britain’s coastal tourist resorts, I was lucky enough to travel on one of those trains before the line closed. Today the railway is a heritage line run by a mixture of paid and volunteer staff who do a first class job in making sure visitors enjoy their day on the railway. This railway is also unusual amongst heritage lines in that it doesn't just serve the stations at either end, all the intermediate stations serve places that are well worth visiting in their own right making it an integral part of the local public transport network. I just visited New Zealand where I saw two ex-South African Garrats in the process of being restored to running order, both will need to have the cabs re-profiled to fit within the NZ loading gauge, I hope I get to see them running one day. I'd love to see some of the engines you mention in action, a trip to South Africa is on my bucket list of things to do before I meet my maker. I'm old enough to remember my mother getting the washing in just before the only regular steam train of the day passed our house when I was a lad. Happy days.
