For people wondering about potage/potash: Potash is the common name for potassium carbonate and various mined and manufactured salts that contain the element potassium in water-soluble form. Food grade potash is safe for human consumption and contains vital elements (also good for fertilizer). However, it is important as she said to let the pH balance by leaving the lid of. Science 🥰

This explains part of why I had so much trouble with black soap shampoos... I didn't realize it had those oils in it. My scalp doesn't like castor at all. There are so many things I have to avoid for my scalp to not scream at me 😩😩😩

Sorry to hear that. Castor oil isn't usually used to make black soap. Traditionally Shea butter or Shea oil and/or palm oil are used. Feel free to customize and use any oil your scalp agrees with or check the ingredients before you buy a ready made one. Good luck🙂

@@nubiankmtwq6333 Oh, interesting. Yeah, my scalp has issues with stimulating oils and heavier oils. But honestly, I've had issues with lighter stuff too at times. It's part of the reason why I'm going towards washing my hair less in general (I have freeform dreadlocks and I don't use products in my hair) because my scalp was getting excessively dry after and my sebum production is way higher than it used to be as a result :/

You forgot cocoa pod ash and plantain skin ash. In Africa the women clearly use Ash. I can't recommend this recipe to anyone.

Lmao I mean most of us had no clue what black soap looked like outside of the bars and liquids we buy at the store. I thought it looked gross too 🤣

Lol. Those shorts tend to creep up on us. One moment it's lasagna story-time, and next it's magical black soap.

Well in Africa black soap is made from food like bananas and such. Don't know about this potash?

Bcos bar soap shouldn't be used for the skin, its way too alkaline

@@Meccaone17 nope. They're basic aswell but slightly less basic than basic soaps, so it's better to use that.

@Browndigs69 it's probably the coconut oil. It's not what all the hype.
