I think "Basic" would be a better descriptor than "alkaline". While they describe the same thing, they aren't describing it in the same way. Alkaline deals with nutrition, while Basic deals with chemistry. Connected, but not the exact same description. Some foods are acidic going by chemistry, but alkaline after going through the body. This means that either bile is basic and that is the proper word, or it's alkaline dealing with nutrition, but acidic dealing with chemistry.
I think the video is referring to BILE ACID not just bile. Bile acids are emulsifier of food especially fatty foods. On the other hand, bile is a pigment that makes your poops yellow/brownish.
Something semi-important to note as well is that our bodies naturally produce vitamins D (through cholesterol molecules in our skin cells) and K (through bacteria in our gut), so these typically don't need to be supplemented very much or at all through our diet.
Our body produces vitamin D only in presense of sun. Without sun your body is unable to produce vitamin D, that’s why you need to supplement it in autumn and winter.
in 2:05 minutes of the video, the narration says "an acidic substance called bile" which is not correct. According to books and medical science, bile has a ph between 7 and 8 which makes it slightly alkaline and definitely not acidic. This can be a matter which the channel should look into. Otherwise, its a great video, truely enjoyed watching it. God bless Ted-ed

"While bacteria, fungi and plants produce their own vitamins, our body can't" Isn't that begging the question? Vitamins are, by definition, essential organic micro-nutrients. We tend to identify vitamins from a human centered point of view. Of course the nutrients that are essential for members of a kingdom aren't necessarily gonna be the same than for another. In fact you don't even have to go to another kingdom for that. Cat's can't produce their own taurine so you could argue that taurine is a vitamin from a cat's point of view (it's an organic compound, it's a micro-nutrient and it's essential for them).

That’s an indication of being a good teacher; when complicated things are being presented in an easy way, so everyone understands it.
