I have always had a big black dog, sometimes 2. People crossed the street to avoid us when I had a perfectly heeling beast at each hip.
No one needed to know they were super sweet.

One night, I was out fishing with my buddy, and I heard some footsteps close to us, so I shone my flashlight in the direction of the noise to my surprise 2 eyes shown back at me. I put down my fishing pole and put a hand on my gun as I narrowed my beam of light on the eyes. All I could see was a big black dog. The dog walked up to us and began sniffing around. He was thin and looked hungry, so I gave him some of my chicken livers I was fishing with. He ate them, and then we walked with him down a path in the woods looking for his owners. We never found his owners, but we did hear a lot of odd sounds as we were walking that path. My buddy couldn't keep the dog, so I took him home and got him proper food we took him to the pound to see if he was chipped. He was, and they tried to get ahold of his owner as did I, and we never heard anything back. Best dog I've ever had.

Cool video and channel. You obviously put a lot of work into these. Hopefully you're rewarded. Liked.

This is why you should always carry a few dog treats with you everywhere you go.

I am a rational adult well-versed in the lore and aware of the risks. I also am an unabashed Dog Person (I like most dogs better than I like most people, to be perfectly honest), and would probably hold out a hand for the Padfoot to sniff and offer to pet them and scratch behind their ears.

There are stories in the Burnley area of a Black Dog called Trash that has very similar characteristics to the padfoot, which makes sense with us only being on the other side of the Pennines from Leeds/Bradford. Then of course you have the Black Dog's that are often linked to the Pendle Witches too.

I just found the channel through this video.
I've become aware of a few interesting figures that deserve a bit more attention in the past few years. The one that relates most closely to this video that I can think of is the Aralez from Armenian mythology. The Aralez also has a relation to death, just not in the same way the dogs of this video seem to have. A quick summary of what they are described, the Aralez is described as a celestial dog-like creature that descends from the heavens to revive fallen from death by licking their wounds.

She didn't seal his fate, it was meant for him to make his goodbyes, I have a strange story to share I was on the Essex border and come across a large black dog it was the day before my nans funeral, I knew he was telling me of more death, my first cousin had a heart attack at a train station on the way to work, the dafter im so glade I got a few beers in for him at the wake the day before, im not normally a huger more of a hand shake kind of guy, but I gave the man a bear hug to remember, I thank the dog or as we call him round here black shuck.

it would be interesting to hear some thoughts on the korrigans of brittany, which seem to share broad hunks of banshee/morrigan lore and the specific details of spriggans
which i guess is further reflected in the various interpretations of just what a korrigan is, which varies from grumpy little goblin-gnomes to playful if dangerous water sirens-dangerous toward priests and virile young men at least
it's the latter korrigan that particularly enchants me, for as little information as i may have access to (and that also plays into my own personal surname)

Yes, both are interesting myths - at a first glance the themes of the latter may conflict with TH-cam's rather zealous sensitivity features so it might be something I do as a members video, if and when that becomes a thing. I'll put them on the list and take a look at them! Thanks for watching!

I've heard of dogs that are trained to 'smell' cancer in patients. If detected, the dog is trained to sit down beside the person.

I find that touching. It’s yet another way a dog tries to help someone in need. As if the dog is saying “This person needs treatment, help them” while giving a pleading look with loving eyes that dogs have.

Before my father's death, i dreamed of a dog sniffing around the house looking for a way in. The dog was black like it took a bath in black ink. I knew that if the dog found a way in, it would be bad. Very bad. But the dog didn't seem evil. It brought bad things but it was not evil itself. When I woke, i knew what it meant. And I knew the dog was going to come in.

My brother saw a black dog when he was a boy scout. He saw it with another boy while they were going to the latrine late at night. It stuck its large head out of a tent- It made eye contact with both my brother and the boy and then disappeared. It had large glowing yellow eyes- Which is something not normally seen in nature and its head was larger than what was physically possible for a proportionately sized body that could fit inside of a small tent. It's head was huge but there is no way its body could fit inside of that tent. After this happened, they said something like "shit, did you just see that?" and they both confirmed what the other person had just seen. The next day the other boy made my brother promise to never discuss this encounter with him again. A family member died after this happened but i think that this is just a coincidence. This is the only supernatural thing that my brother has experienced or at least discussed with anyone.

@@katx9697 The impossibility of the size of the creatures head compared to the size of the tent ruled out any natural animal. Its head was as big as the tent and yet this head was sticking out of the tent. Its hard for me to convey this adequately or describe this well because i dont write at all or enough. This is what made the situation horrifying. The things head was sticking out of the tent and its head was as big as the tent. They asked the scouts who were sleeping in the tent if they had seen anything in the morning. They didn't wake up or see anything! They slept through this thing being inside or whatever. The situation was so strange and scary.

One time I swore that i saw a black cow walking down the street and had mentioned to a friend who just thought i had imagined it or got confused because i had saw it so early in the morning time where it was still not fully light out.
Mentioned to another friend a few days later and they pointed out that down the street there's actually a neighbour with a huge black German shepherd and it's apparently a very friendly dog.

I had never heard of a shuck before my father died. 2 days before at sunset I came home and found a huge black dog on the front porch. I chased it off. Same next day. It was unnatural. I am not superstitious at all, later I studied up on it. Shuck was exactly like what I saw. So help me on my soul. ❤

Wonder why the Black Dog never reached Kent, I think that Scotland wasn't because of low population and not connecting with other villages, probably through mistrust, but Kent has always been fairly well populated and a hive of trade and travellers

by nature ai has no understanding of what it's processing and can't make decisions based on the intent of a text, which it is not made to comprehend or interpret
