    I just bought one of these on Amazon for my grandson. One question he asked was whether he could use it to make toast. Here is what I found, in case anyone else is wondering about this: Q: Can you use this as a toaster
    A: Thank you for your question. The Instant™ Vortex™ Mini doesn't have a dedicated Toast function, however you can still toast bread using the Bake function. We suggest placing your bread on the cooking tray and setting to Bake at 380F for 2-3 minutes depending on desired doneness. Enjoy!

    Thank you for providing measurements inside and out - and thank you SO much for measuring how long the cord is, I looked a long time for that info :-). Loved the french fry demo, was surprised it cooked such a large quantity and so quickly (although I think I'd cook them just a bit longer, for a bit more crunch). Looks like it's just right for one (and maybe even two), without being too large or cumbersome in a small kitchen.

  • @chrisabbey5609
    @chrisabbey5609 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you for this video. Very informative. It was all 10 out of 10, but it was your pulling the tape on the cord that is my favorite part. The cord length is something that usually gets passed over.
    Thank you sir. Merry Christmas!

    Just picked up one of these today, works nicely. Didn't have any nasty smell at first. Like when you open the basket I didn't smell anything. However performing the 20 minute cook-off like it recommended they're definitely with some odor coming out of the exhaust fan. I actually ran it a few times just to be sure. Clean the basket beforehand and then clean it again after. So far I made some grilled mini sweet peppers with cream cheese and everything but the bagel seasoning, and then did some chicken tenders. Raw chicken frozen. Only took about 12 minutes, I ran it for 5 minutes just to get them unfrozen on the surface so I could sprinkle some seasoning on them and then ran 12 minutes at 380. That's probably a little too long always check your temps with poultry

    I have a big air fryer but the thing is it’s one of the bulky one that doesn’t have a big basket. It’s just a big machine for no reason. I just bought the mini vortex because I have wanted a smaller one to save space. I have a family of 3 but think I can make this work for us. We only dump fries in there, nuggets and chicken when frying and maybe shrimp occasionally or reheat. This is perfect. I ordered the black one even though the red one is fun! Can’t wait I til it arrives.

    I cut up two peeled potatoes into fries, 400 degrees about 10 minutes with no oil, best tasting fries ever. Poured on a little ketchup and salt. Salt won't stick much except onto the ketchup, but is easily mopped up from the plate. Amazing how much better they tasted without oil.

  • @dav8388
    @dav8388 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just bought this i first used it to bake some Pillsbury biscuits. I ruined the first batch cause I had the temp too high at 350 it cooked outside but left the inside raw. So i lowered the temp to 250. And they came out perfect. I drive a semi truck and my 1800 watt inverter runs it with no problem so long as I have the APU/engine running. This will open up so many possibilities for cooking on the road.

  • @coytus94
    @coytus94 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What I've noticed with my air fryers is to NEVER quite go off of what the instructions tell me to. I did that once and I ended up burning the food. I'll usually take it out every 5 to 10 minutes to see how they're looking and feeling, shake them around to even the cooking, and then put them back in and keep repeating until it looks done. I've had frozen pierogis that say to cook them for 18 minutes be done in less than half the time. Also literally just got done cooking a hot pocket as I type this now that said to bake it for 27 minutes at 375F, and I took it out at the 15 minute mark and it's perfect, and I'm using the same exact air fryer. I honestly love this little thing. I'll usually set the temperature on my air fryer according to what the box tells me for the food, but I never trust the times it tells me to cook them for. Most likely due to the air fryer being such a smaller unit compared to a traditional oven so it concentrates the heat more into the food and cooks it a lot faster.

  • @addier44

    Thanks John, I have just bought larger version of this air fryer and worried about the silicon parts of the basket maybe melting in use so took them off, will put them back on. Manufacturer instructions not clear about this. 👍

I’m going to be living alone as a college student and have been looking into getting an air fryer for my apartment! Thank you for this in depth review!! I have two questions: 1) did you happen to see it smoking at all at any certain point in time? 2) did it happen to have a funky smell or anything along those lines? Thanks!

      It... or any Air Fryer will smoke sometimes with some foods like hamburgers but nothing terrible... usually...lol... but if so try turning down heat to cook that type stuff and use a instant read thermometer... they are a must with these imho... no funky smell to speak of but maybe run on its highest setting for 20 minutes or so when you first get it... outside if possible...

    Just got mine today 35$ . Cooked 4 frozen chicken thighs and they cooked in 30mins delish. I need a recipe book for time and temp. I just guessed. One complaint the cord is very short. It is quiet

    John, you sure didn't use this fryer very much! :( That's okay, I bought one for work and hardly ever use it. I think the hardest part of using an "air fryer" is baking. It never comes out on the first try for me. I guess it's just too small to use for every day items. I do love the big brother full size Vortex.

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually bought it to give to my sister and to let others know it was available... but it is small and limited to a one or maybe two person use... sorry I didn't do more videos work it but I may buy another to do some stuff in...I like the vortex 6 myself and seems like a good size for most people... but thank you for watching and maybe I'll have more before long...

      @@JohnSanders I totally get it. It's so small, I found it impractical for "normal" home use. I hardly ever use mine at all.

    Do you have any knowledge about the Breville 900xi smart oven. I like that you can dehydrate on four shelves at once. I grow lots of herbs in my garden and want to start dehydrating them for gifts.

      I have the Breville smart oven air...I do like it but I have never dehydrated in it... or any of my air fryers...I have several Nesco dehydrator that I do that in... I'm sure they would work really well though... especially for things like herbs...thanks for watching!!!

    You don't do any cleaning to prevent the weird smell that most new air fryers have?

    I cooked four chicken thighs @ 360* using flour and no oil. they cooked for 18 minutes with 6 minutes turned. They didn't really brown. Should I have not turned them? Maybe 400* for a few?

      Hard to say as there are a few variables but I would probably try raising temp some and only do 2 at a time in this particular air Fryer... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
