Years ago I was stranded at the side of the road after a record snowfall struck my area. My car suddenly stalled and I couldn’t get it going again. I popped the hood and checked everything over, but no luck. I live in a very rural area, nightfall was quickly approaching, the wind felt like an artic blast, and I had not seen another car for over an hour. I suddenly realized I had left my cell phone at home, and there was nothing but barren wind swept fields for as far as the eye could see. The wind had depleted my core temperature, I was extremely cold with no heater to warm me up, and the grim reality of hypothermia began to rear its ugly head. I felt a true sense of danger begin to overwhelm me. Suddenly I heard a voice say “havin’ some trouble?” I looked over at the passenger side window and there was Matt Furey, arms akimbo and smiling at me, wearing only matching Champion sweat pants and t shirt. He appeared completely unaffected by the sub zero temps. "Matt Furey? What are you doing out here?" I exclaimed. Motioning towards the engine bay, Matt said “On the left side of the engine bay behind the battery, there’s a black wire with a red plug at the end. It’s come loose. Grab the red plug and push as hard as you can towards the firewall.” I stared for a few seconds and said “black wire…red plug…firewall”, my jaw was shaking and my breath formed misty clouds inside the car. Matt nodded in agreement and again pointed to the engine bay, but this time with a decided sense of urgency. “You don’t have much time, get out of the car and do it NOW.” I stumbled out of the car, two blocks of ice for feet and frozen claws of meat where my fingers used to be. Summoning all my strength, I did as Matt had instructed and in the last dusky light of evening, I suddenly spotted a bright spark at the end of the black wire. My heart jumped, my face flushed, and I excitedly shuffled back into the car. Using both of my hands I proceeded to turn the ignition key. The car started immediately. “There are many kinds of sparks. One spark deep inside us is the will to keep going when all seems lost”, Matts voice boomed. “Today you almost gave up. If you ever do that again, I’m going to come back to kick your ass AND take your name. YEAAASSSSSS!!!” Before I could reply with my abundant gratitude and thanks, there was a sudden bright flash of light. Matt was gone, having vanished as quickly as he had appeared. I was again totally alone in the middle of nowhere, but now my car was running strong, abundant heat wasn’t far behind, and soon I would be home. Anyways, great video, thanks Matt.

Many stories I've read of meditators bilocating in the light body and appearing to others (like Padre Pio) but unable to bring that memory back to the denser slower vibration of the physical material reality and the brain's memories. Great story.

Lol. I do 1,000 of these everyday. Except that I didn’t know that it was an exercise. It’s part of my Buddhist bowing devotional regimen. We go down on the floor on our knees, then bow our head to the floor. Then get up without using our hands for support. Our hands are still in a prayer position.

thanks for the video, I used to watch this ancestral combat practices in video, and always try to imitate those moves, some with a serius failure at the same time this guy of atg programs, start to talk about working on the toes for squating and knees over toes and that kind of stuff. I have chondropathy issues so im working on it even doing some hackenschmidt squats with a weight behind the back, the gironda three phase sissy squats are a great tool too and add a hip extension movement to the equation.

Just when I thought you couldn’t assist me any farther in this Dream & once again; just a bunch and I feel great. After my spine was damaged years ago, I started hindu squats with your books , more than 20 years ago. And they kept me on point even though I could not run anymore , and a few motrice issues on my right side as well have lingered ( thankfully we are not these bodies.) anyway; thanks a bunch. You got a home in Uruguay; food, home, sacred plants, icebath, jiujitsu, are all on me. Oss, Master. Aum & Oss

Gonna definitely give these a try. Unfortunately, I had to retire the Hindu squats after I keep throwing my lower back out thanks to an old injury. Still crushing the Hindu push-ups, and back bridge. Actually seems my thighs got bigger from doing more back bridging. In total, I bridge for about 45 min a week; doing long holds and short ones throughout the days.

Its great to see you make this video. I have been following your work since the early years when they where in book format, and DVDS. I am know by the locals as the crazy guy with the stick. I have been using and teaching ancient methods using the Bo Staff, AKA a strong wooden stick and this one is on the tops of the list. There is also the version with two sticks, that you planted behind and sit back.

A chair works pretty good. The poll is good tho because you have to balance, that added to the whole exercise does add a lot for your bodies balance and coordination.
