There are various video essays out there about how this series premiere is a big "we know tennant is no longer here but please stick with us just for a little bit", specially when 11 says "believe for 20 minutes" as if he's inviting the audience to not leave mid-episode/the new season
Coincidentally i also believe that when he says that there are around 20 minutes of episode left
@@charliechar__11->12 also has a "call" in a similar sense.
@@Tehblood I think this ones better though, cause at least in 12 one (spoilers even though she is up to date with the series) Clara is there to ease the change
@charliechar__ yeah, I think both serve the same purpose.
@@charliechar__ its not coincidence, Moffat wrote that essentially in real-time. it was all part of the plan
Fun little fact; Karen Gillan, who plays the adult version of Amy, appeared in the series 4 episode ‘The Fires of Pompeii’ as one of the Seers that tried to kill Donna
And Peter Capaldi, the next Doctor was the father in 'The Fires of Pompeii', too. ;)
@@voiceofthevoid2284 Spoilers
@@Ladco77 Not sure if it counts, he was in promotional material for the show for 3 years pretty recently, and clips and gifs of him are all over the place. I've never seen an episode of his, so I dont even know how it happens, I just know who he is.
Another fun fact: Caitlin Blackwood (Young Amelia) is actually related to Karen Gillan...Cousins, I believe...
Matt's run he was perfect at being super friendly and goofy while showing great compassion and significant anger. He's so good.
"Hello, I'm The Doctor. Basically, run."
I love that scene so much. The Eleventh Hour is in my opinion, the best deput episode of a new Doctor and New series. Steven Moffat did such a good job with this episode
Matt Smith had massive shoes to fill, but he did it brilliantly. Karen Gillan as Amy Pond was fantastic. Now we begin his era as The Doctor, so looking forward to the rest of series 5.
Geronimo!
Debut?
Deep Breath is also very very good
This was the first episode of DW I ever saw. I wasn’t sure what to think of it at first, but one line got me absolutely hooked: “Box falls out of the sky, man climbs out of the box, man eat’s fish custard. And look at you! Not even frightened. So you know what I think? Must be a scary crack in your wall.” I loved how, for as random and weird as this character was, he could connect dots crazy fast.
Silence in the Library really does have a new meaning after the Smith era.
"Spoilers " Moffett's characters were the best 🤭🤭
Shhhhhhhhhhh
@@dylancole1910 shes caught up anyway
Part of the brilliance of regeneration in Dr. Who is the very different portrayal by each actor. This is far better than another actor trying to be the same personality as his predecessor.
I definitely agree for the most part, but I think it makes sense to have some carry-over traits in the period right after they regenerate until they really figure out who this new version is.
@@BritanyBingesdefinitely love the carry over bits, it especially worked recently for 14 as it felt Jodie hadn't went anywhere
@@thepandorica1660 lol thats because jodie pretty much copied tennants doctor.
@@charg1nmalaz0r51 badly as well...should have just been herself or at least come up with a character of her own...shame
The younger Amelia is the real life cousin of Karen Gillian (the older Amelia/ Amy) but they didn’t know at the time of filming the episode that they were cousins.
And consider this - that cousin is now the age Karen was when they started shooting. Insert Matt Damon aging gif here.
They knew they were cousins, they had just never met, before filming.
Not only did they know they were cousins, Gillan actually recommended her for the role.
@@mattperiolat And in 2024, she looks just like 2005 Karen.
@@KthulhuXxx Well, yes, looks very much like Karen.
Probably the best Modern who introduction episode for a new Doctor i think. Its a pity some people just gave up on the show because of Tennant not being there, but its their loss, i actually like Smith more than Tennant to be honest
I think the idea that people gave up on the show after Tennant is overblown. It only took me two episodes to accept Matt and move on. When he ended his tenure I saw him and Tennant as the greatest of the Nu Who Doctors (as [CENSORED] is clearly the tops of Classic Who).
Definitely the strongest introductory episode. Matt Smith is still my doctor.
Tennant is my Doctor, but I agree that this is the best intro for a new Doctor!
Im pretty sure most people stuck around to watch Matt Smith era. Steven Moffat at the time was a very popular writer and here in the States Matt Smith was crazy popular.
@@kay-jay1581 I think up until Jodie, this "I-hate-the-new-Doctor" thing was a manufactured drama.
I really liked the conversation at the end in Amy's garden. "Yeah, shoot me. I kept the clothes." And how Matt Smith said, "Wherever you like." I've heard his performance described as a bit Rumpelstiltskin. Twiddly-fingers and a bit fairy tale.
I think there's quite a big difference in the way RTD thinks/thought about the character and the way Moffat did. To RTD, he was 'the Lonely God'. To Moffat, he was 'the madman with a box'!
Yeah, and personally speaking, I greatly prefer the madman with a box.
I love how this regen episode not only introduces the Doctor in spectacular fashion, but also starts seeding little things that you only realise on a rewatch.
How do you know its a duck pond without ducks? Shows just how much the cracks have been eating at Amy's life.
Like the bees disappearing, many other types they hint at over time old and new of Nu Who details, but ducks, the house. Whatever else. I don't remember the S5 finale well at all so much S5+ I don't remember, I do some bits and pieces of some good episodes sometimes some average ones.
Ok Pandorica remember that now.
Some finales I don't remember. I remember a Town called Christmas and maybe a few others, maybe some Capaldi moments, I have not rewatched S5+ episodes at all only first viewing while others around me had rewatched a few times.
Rewatched and what the writers always hide. The Doctor's name, wedding, they say so much then we rewatch and go ah yes. They love to mess with us viewers. XD But we also appreciate it because the details are so great and then when we see them later on we go wow it was worth it. It varies but they do usually end up good.
Karen Gillan plays Nebula from the Guardians of The Galaxy.
And you may know her from the Jumanji franchise
She was also in Jumanji 2 and 3
The way Matt Smith just absolutely nails it from the first second is something that ought to be studied in acting classes.
His "everything's going to be fine!" speech is when I was sold on him permanently haha.
Well, here we are. This is the story of Amelia Pond, and this is how it begins.
First off, Matt Smith just crushes it right out of the chute, doesn’t he? It’s really not hard to see why so many embrace either him or David as their Doctor. He gets so many angles on the Doctor, the alien side, the funny side, the “Wow, he’s kind of scary right now” side and the side that you just want to take him home for coffee. He’s brilliant.
And in case I didn’t tip it off, although I’d rank her behind Donna overall, Amy is my Companion. I love her to absolute bits as an avatar for Alice in Wonderland and as that girl with the crush who never quite got over it twelve years later. She’s smart, she’s funny, she can be scary too in her own way. And of course, red hair - my kryptonite.
Funny thing, at least by TH-cam time, The Eleventh Hour debuted 14 years ago last week. Funny how time works, isn’t it? But yes, this is a gem, it’s in my personal top five and my girl is finally here. Yeah, this is great.
EDITED because, like the Doctor, I have no concept of time.
Oh, that's so funny about the timing of this episode. Honestly, weird timing things like that happen ALL THE TIME with these reactions. It's wild.
I thought it aired in 2010 not 2012
@@peachesplums Yes, 14 years since fish custard
@@peachesplums I messed up, been 14 years. So still cool!
Steven Moffat actually said about the changes that if David and Catherine stayed he really wouldn't have changed as much, but with everything changing behind and in front of the camera he felt it would inevitably feel different so he figured why not lean in and make it seem intentional.
Honestly as a kid I really found the changes exciting. Things had been the same way for what in kid years was a long, so all the new felt really exciting.
It was also the upgrade to HD. Before that they were filming in a mixed-mode for 4:3 and 16:9 TVs and lower resolution.
You missed the official “14 years since fish custard” date by 3 days. 😂
The timing is wild!

Oh, the Matt Smith's era is such a fairy tale (literally) - probably my favorite era in DW, especially series 5
Hope you're gonna enjoy it!
A really great start to the Matt Smith era when i first watched this because i grew up and seen all of the 10 Doctors before him i straight away warmed up up to the new Doctor i was ready for David Tennant to leave if i'm honest, at the end of the episode when the newly regenerated Doctor walked through the hologram after showing the previous Doctors talking to the atraxi telling him "Hello i'm the Doctor, so basically run" and i thought immediately "Yes! that is The Doctor" that was one the most epic scenes and it's actually believable by his personality that this Doctor is the old man inside a young man and how alien he is and it shows.
I have to say though i don't understand why they asked you to avoid looking at the previous 8 Doctors as it doesn't really give away anything storywise but it doesn't matter you'll meet them eventually.
I love Amy Pond she's one my all time favourite companions out of the entirety of NuWho apart from another one which i won't name as that one won't arrive till later but Amy has so much sass and character and reminds me of an Emma Peel sidekick type of character from the british 60's show "The Avengers". (nothing to do with marvel).
I wasn't the biggest fan of Steven Moffat's writing style at times only because of the whole fairytale aspect and the convoluted plots but some of his episodes are good and consistent and he did create the most iconic Weeping Angels.
Just on the subject of romance with the Doctor and his companions when it came to Rose and Martha because they had romantic feelings towards him that never sat well with me because he's a 900 year old ancient a-sexual alien he always treated them no more than friends, or a niece or a daughter so i find it weird why he be interested in 19 year old female earthlings i always see the Doctor as a-sexual but i'm fine companions having romance elsewhere just not with the Doctor but that's just my opinion.
The episode itself was fantastic from start to finish.
This is not only the first to introduce the new console room inside the TARDIS but also a new TARDIS prop as well as the ambulance st. john sign on the door and white sequared windows which were not seen since the William Hartnell days.
The new music theme that starts with this episode became my instant favorite. It really makes the moments feel much more epic.
I liked the second Matt Smith theme better. After they added the chorus voices. That was perfection.
Having tried fish fingers and custard I can tell you that while it looks disgusting, the sweetness of the custard makes for a really good dip for the breaded fish sticks. Genuinely shockingly good. Pretty much just like this era of Doctor Who.
However when filming Matt wasn't really eating a fish finger. It was actually a rectangular slice of cake! 😂
@@FahadAyaz I love little behind the scenes tidbits like that. That's one I didn't know lol
This was probably the best series intro ever. They had a hard job because there was such a backlash that Tennant was leaving. Even talks of canceling the show. They had to nail this perfectly
Historically the producers of Doctor Who made sure that there was a companion or two making the transition between Doctors, to help the audience make that leap from their old favourite to the new one. It was a very conscious decision to stop viewers turning off. This episode as such very much broke with that tradition. I very much remember watching this for the first time, and by the end of the episode feeling 'pretty safe'. I was skeptical about Matt Smith - youngest actor ever to play the Doctor... and indeed we had no companions to reassure us that everything was going to be okay. Having him burst through the "display" of previous Doctors felt rather forced (!), but - well - I love a bit of flashback... My appreciation for Matt has grown upon subsequent viewings, and there has been MANY, because - my oldest son's Doctor IS Matt Smith. :) He had the "steam punk" TARDIS console play set, he had the sonic, the... ahh, we haven't got there yet. Anyways - Good times.
They absolutely nailed it with Matt Smith. After David Tennant, not very many actors could’ve done the job of carrying Doctor Who through. Matt Smith absolutely smashed it.
The sonic wasn't working properly because the TARDIS was rebuilding
I think it's more that it was knocked around a few times in the crash
The actresses that play Amy and Amelia are cousins in real life. They had enough of a resemblance to play each other.
and yes, she is very beautiful.
You may recognize the older man whose tie the Doctor’s was caught in. He played Cully in the Dominators with the Second Doctor.
I don't know who Cully is or what the Dominators is. lol
@@BritanyBinges Oh, thought you were into season nine of classic Who. The Dominators was in season six.
@@kemmdog4444 She is, to be fair, I've seen the Dominators multiple times and I don't remember much about them.
@@StevenCombs-td9dy LOL
@@kemmdog4444 I don't think she watched every classic episode, just the ones that were more iconic. Although I could be wrong. But I have seen that episode and I don't remember that character haha. But it has been a long long time.
I wasn't sure about Matt Smith after this episode. To me, it felt like the script writers were still writing for David Tennant, and Smith was struggling to make the role his own. I fell in love with Karen Gillan's Amy Pond immediately, though. (Pretty sure she has the most expressive eyes in show business!) Matt Smith grew on me very quickly after this. He and the writers just seemed to understand and bring out the best in each other.
Oh, and I assume you already know but in case you don't, Karen Gillan went on to become Nebula in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, and to star in the Jumanji reboots.
Back tomorrow... for stuff.
Britany: Why a Wedding dress?
We always "mourn" the passing of one doctor, and we may or may not embrace the new version... ever? But usually we warm up to him a little, as we get used to him.
This was a chaotic start... may of us were unconvinced. This soon.
Over the decades, many of us got very used to changes.
This was the first episode I ever saw. My best friend showed it to me back in 2011 and I immediately started from Eccleston after that. This is gonna be a fun journey.
Britany's quote of the day: "Ugh, little girls are even worse"
Creepy kids are always the worst! 😂
Have you watched Guardians of the Galaxy? Karen Gillian plays Nebula and is also Ruby Roundhouse in the recent Jumanji films with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black.
I saw the first two Guardians movies before I officially started my MCU journey on the channel and it was wild doing the rewatch of the first Guardians after watching her Doctor Who. Even knowing it was her, I still had a hard time seeing it.
I reacted to the two Jumanji movies she's in. The full reactions to both are on Patreon now and they'll likely come to TH-cam eventually but not for a long time.
14 years since this amazing episode aired for the first time. 14 years since fish custard. I rewatch this episode a lot. I love The fairytale vibe to it as well.
This was my introduction to Doctor Who. Well, the first episode I ever saw; I'd first heard about the show back in 2004 thanks to some Whovian friends but for various reasons didn't get around to checking it out until 2010. I went in expecting to like it. I did not expect to fall madly in love with it less than 5 minutes in. I remember getting chills the first time I heard the theme music. Naturally, Matt Smith is my Doctor, and while Donna is my favorite companion, Amy's not far behind.
Yeah, you're in for a treat. Enjoy! 😁
Finally, tbe girl who waited is here!! This Doctor and Amy are both my favorite!!!
I’ve been waiting!
Not to break the illusion but Matt didn't eat fishfingers & custard on set, they were breaded coconut cakes with custard. Blows my mind how many kids must have tried the fish version 😂😂
I did try it when I was a young teen, in fact I ended up liking the combo enough to eat it a decent bit as a treat. Not had it in years though.
Edit: I figured it's been about a decade or so since I lat had the pairing.
I absolutely despise coconut so, honestly, I find that just as disgusting. lol
@@BritanyBinges Awww bless you. How about a healthy bowl of just custard? We can't leave you out haha!
And Smith HATED the stuff. So, of course they ribbed him by intentionally blowing a few takes so he had to keep eating it.
I tried Fish Fingers and custard myself one time as a test it's actually not bad.
So excited for this journey!! This is my favorite era of the show. And since I know you're caught up on Patreon... It's so great that you (probably) kinda got everything you wanted from this new doctor era. Because you wanted 2 companions for an extended period of time and you wanted a guy friend for the doctor. Which Rory isn't necessarily a "friend" of the doctor most of the time. But he's an amazing companion and challenges the doctor in ways that are so well portrayed. I can't wait to see your reactions to this whole era and beyond!
26:6 There are definitely two schools of thought there. On the one hand, what better time to fresh the show than with a new doctor? Creative was changing up behind the scenes, some new writers and production people, new lead actor, new show runner.. It's like a 2.0. Also, some of it as I recall was the result of wanting to update for the switch to HD television. Tennant's run ended right on the sadle line of HD. I know some people really did not take to the new era, but when you look back over the previous four years from this point ir really does make a lot of ense to do that... and honestly it did happen a few times in the classic show's run as well. Going from Doctor 2 to 3 was the era we went from black and white to color, for example, and with it there was a format change.
As a Doctor Who fan, I loved David for sure, but Matt Smith is MY personal favorite Doctor. I hope you love him ❤
I'm so happy I've found your channel now, cause you've just started watching my favourite Doctor so I get to watch his run all over again with you
I'm always so impressed with young Amelia's scottish accent (she's northern irish i believe). Like, she nails it.
She's actually Karen Gillens cousin so most likely Scottish too.
She was born in Northern Ireland, but her family moved to Scotland when she was six (she was nine when this episode aired), so she was probably quite familiar with both accents at the time of shooting. Plus I'm sure Karen (and probably Steven Moffat) was around to help with any coaching needed.
I think Matt impressed me more than expected in here.
Amy is his BEST friend, IMO. They have such good chemistry, as do most of the supporting cast around him. Matt Smith has such good companions during his run. You'll like them.
They were focusing on the screen behind him because the "Crack" showed up on the screen similar to the one in her room #SeasonArc
This interior of the tardis is my favorite. Though I may be biased because Matt Smith was the first doctor I watched.
26:20 Tbh Doctor who was the show that truely taught me to accept change and accept nothing can stay the same or perfect forever and coming to enjoy and love new parts of the doctor and show helped me not dislike other shows as much when others seen them as "failures for not sticking to story" accepting that change helps you enjoy the stuff that people make even if its not the exact same as it used to be, That being said as a kid/teen watching this I really disliked Matt as the doctor purely because i loved david's doctor so much, but that did change in a later episode when i truly saw him as The Doctor then rewatching the earlier episodes before that i enjoyed them so much more so yeah it was a lot to accept at the time of airing but taght me a lot in those years about accepting things you cant change
Tom Hopper as Jeff! Btw, he's also in Black Sails which just dropped all 4 seasons on netflix last week. That's a fantastic series, too.
He's also Percival in Merlin and Dickon Tarly in Game of Thrones.
@@Ilogunde and he's in Umbrella Academy
And this season is basically the first one that’s in full HD.
The reason for so many changes is that filing changed to HD for this season, and a new Tardis interior was needed, as the old set had flaws that would be visible are the higher definition.
It remains my favourite series opener for Doctor Who, and there’s some great Doctor who moments to come.
It actually is 14 years since this episode
It couldn't have been timed any better if I'd planned it. :)
There were a lot of changes, but it absolutely had to go all in with them. At the time, Doctor Who was massive in the UK and no (and I mean no one) believed Matt Smith was up to the job of taking over what Tennant left behind. I'm so glad they all went full force with the change whilst at the same time still keeping the formula that worked from the RTD era. This is honestly an amazing first Doctor episode for it.
I first got into Doctor Who with the 11th Doctor. And probably my favorite.
Still one of my fave introduction episodes, Matt Smith is absolutely stellar and he only gets better
Regardless of mixed feelings from the fans about his era, there’s no denying that Matt Smith absolutely killed it in the role. He perfectly makes it his own while very much retaining aspects of 10 so you can still tell it’s the same person
There was many people I knew in school who stopped watching here. I have talked to people in years since who haven't watched the show since Tennant was the Doctor. With everything new, it did turn a lot of people away. But there are also people who stopped watching when Capaldi took over due to modern audiences being familiar with a younger Doctor and thought it was weird.
The series chages a lot and that is one of the reasons it has been successful in staying around for 60 years.
We’re in it now! My favorite series, the peak of the show imo.
Tom Hopper who played the IT tech guy is from Coalville. A town within my county.
The Moffat era is my favorite & 11 is my favorite Doctor.
Moffat's era is my favorite as well! :)
4:15 I asked my mom once to make the same thing the Doctor liked to eat in this scene. It's a little strange, but it's not bad.
You know whats crazy? Originally, if David Tennant agreed to do 1 more season the idea was that Amy would have found 10 right before he was going to regenerate when she was just a girl. Then 10 would leave and regenerate. Then years later Amy would see 10 again. But this would be 10 from the past. They pulled a time travel shenanigan. Where 10 knew who Amy was when he met her as a kid because through his pov they met and went on Adventures already. The version of 10 Amy meets later would have been 10 meeting her for the first time through his pov. The first season with Amy would be leading up to 10's regeneration. Time catching up with 10.
The idea of David and Amy meeting and having Adventures is just insane to me.
Real fan's will generally get on board with each new doctor, Dr Who for me has always been about the story, what each new Doctor brings is like the icing on the cake.
This aired 3 April 2010, just 3 months after The End of Time. We weren't allowed to get used to not having Tennant.
You are not the first person to connect this episode to Girl in the Fireplace. It's basically the same story.
Of course there are tons of hints for the future storyline in this episode but I can't tell you what they are.
One of the best episodes of all time. Matt Smith is an outstanding actor, he owns this role💚
Also, this actress Karen Gillian, had a small role in the episode where they go to Pompeii and the Doctor saves that family. Plus, she’s Nebula. The young actress is Karen’s cousin.
I know you have watched all the way to current but I'm happy to have you finally get to my favorite companion. I love Amy and the Doctor together.
Oh your closing thoughts about wanting the Doctor to have a male companion and 2 companions, knowing what's to come. Hah! 😊 As you wish.
I do enjoy Matt Smith's Doctor. He does dark and light and flips on a dime beautifully. And exudes childlike joy at being The Doctor. Such a pleasure
The era of the Ponds, forever iconic ❤️
Karen Gillan was a seer in The Fires of Pompei. Also, I believe the Prisoner Zero with the two little girls is Tennant’s co-star from Broadchurch?
Yes! It is Olivia Coleman. Great series, btw.
I've heard it mentioned Amy Pond (Supernatural) was named after our Amy.
She was! The creator of Supernatural is a Doctor Who fan. He worked a few different Who easter eggs into the show. :)
The beginning of a whole new era and major storylines. It is a fun ride! Enjoy it.
I'm current with modern Who over on Patreon, but I did enjoy it. :)
Amy Pond, the Girl Who Waited. Brought a tear to my eye as well 💜
This episode does a phenomenal job of softly rebooting the show. To be honest I was sick and tired of the RTD era by the end, so this was a welcome fresh start. There are some minor nitpicks I have with it, but I think it still stands up well today.
I really like Amy's character arc. There are stumbles and failures with the writing in this era, but that's true of every era of the show.
Your thumbnail makes it look like your response to the episode (or at least to Amy) was quite different to what it actually was! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
RTD's era (the first one, of course) is still my least favorite. I obviously enjoyed it enough, but when compared to Moffat and, yes, even Chibnall's era, it's just falls short for me. I vastly prefer grittier/darker content over family-friendly entertainment.
@@BritanyBinges Interesting!
Got to say, I loved 11. Wasn't sure at the start, but 11 was a brilliant Doctor. 11-Amy-Rory, might be my favourite combination. Although I loved 12-Clara too.
13:51, that's something the Doctor is chronically guilty of. (River Song, Blink, Shakespeare Code, aaand.... this year too, maybe?)
FISH FINGERS AND CUSTARD!!! Boeties are cool!
Still, for my money, one of (if not) _the_ best nuWho intro episodes to a Doctor. Pacey but still takes the time to nicely establish the new Doctor, new companion, their dynamic _and_ the series arc. _And_ it's genuinely witty too IMO.
11's slightly lower-key menace ("I'm the Doctor. Basically... run") and awkward, eccentric Oxbridge don persona hit the sweet spot for me (by being almost its exact opposite it's the perfect follow-up to 10's suave, worldly swashbuckler), so I was sold on Smith pretty much from the get-go.
One of my fave show openers and definitely one that I recommend as a great starter episode for newbs.
This was where i originally started, and after watching season 5 i was hooked and went back to watch all of nuwho and classic who, and has become my favourite show of call time
Amy and Rory are my favorite companions - excited to see your reactions!
I'll be honest, what you said about all the changes was the big reason I took a break during this season when it aired. I WAS broken up about Tennant, but for me, it was all the changes, it was just too much for younger me. I appreciate those changes now, but throughout this first episode I was like: THAT'S TOO MUCH, or THAT'S TOO DIFFERENT 😆 But I returned for the end of the series cause where I lived at the time had a little pub/clubhouse kind of thing, and they were playing one of the later episodes and I was intrigued! Looking back though, I really enjoy this opener now
My personal opinion is that even if there are ostensibly better seasons with better episodes, season 5 here has the single best constructed season-wide arc in terms of setting up pieces and paying them off consistently
I watched it in real time. You always feel weird about a new doctor for the first 2 to 3 episodes. But soon you get feel it.
And so it begins! My FAVORITE Doctor!!!
My assistant manager grew up with this Doctor. It was the 7th for me.
I was sure I wouldn’t like Matt because he wasn’t David. But this and the Bell of St John, not there yet, are two of my favorite episodes.
And we're just a couple of weeks since it actually was 14 years since fish custard - what serendipitous timing. ^_~ For me, David was a good enough Doctor, but Matt /was/ the Doctor. I fell in love with him essentially immediately, and by the end of this series I finally felt that my childhood hero was truly returned.
My Doctor 🤩
I grew up on this exact series, and as a result child me had the biggest crush on Amy/Karen*
*Adult me still does
In fairness, I'm pretty sure having a crush on Amy/Karen knows no age boundaries.
Easily my favourite first episode for a new Doctor of the modern era. The madcap fairytale vibe with the madman in a box whisking Amy Pond off on weird and fantastical adventures. Come along Pond! 😁
Have you watched the two most recent Jumanji movies? Because Karen Gillan was in both of them, minus her accent.
As for Doctor Who, you actually did see her once before, in The Fires of Pompeii. You wouldn't have recognized her though, as her face was painted. She was one of the sisters of the Sibylline priesthood.
The enemies in this episode were... CG EYE.
*GROAN*... =:o}
I see what you did there. Lol
Karen Gillan played the blue cyborg daughter of Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy and Infinity War.
I've probably watched the eleventh hour way more than any other doctor who episode. It's one of my favourites
Matt Smith chose the 11th Doctor’s outfit. Bow ties are cool! Personally I think this is the best looking Tardis. All lit up with glass floors. Hot cold ketchup mustard 😂 I think Amy is the best companion too. Did you notice Amy didn’t say “It’s bigger on the inside.”
I don't think it's any spoiler to tell you things that didn't happen but originally they were supposed to have David Tennant with the new companion Amy, then switch Doctors shortly later... But they eventually ended up on having them both introduced in the same episode.
Matt Smith ❤ My favourite Doctor. From this episode on, I was in love with his portrayal of the doctor. And it was only made better by giving him the best stories as well.
I honestly thought Matt had such big shoes to fill and he took the reins from the get go. I think he ended up surprising a lot of people and quickly became a firm favourite.
