I'm retired. All I do all day is drink coffee and play games on my computer. Right now I'm playing ARK: Survival Evolved and I started building Aaron Longstaff's tree house. I've got around 400 hours into this game on Steam and I wanted something nicer than what I was building. Anyway, I spent all day yesterday building this base and towards the end I realized I had made a mistake and needed to start over on a different tree. So my granddaughter said "Grampy, aren't you mad that you spent all day building for nothing and had to start over?" And I replied "You're too young to know what I'm saying but when you're older you'll understand that the worst day you've ever had playing games still beats the best day you've ever had working" 😃
@@gbcyphersrule5610 - Sorry about replying so late, I didn't see your comment. I had to start over because ARK: Survival Evolved has a wonky construction system. There are way too many snap points. So if you put down a fence foundation for example, you'll see that there are two, three or even four places, in some cases, where you can snap that fence foundation. So if you place a fence foundation in the wrong spot, that stone pillar you attach to it for support on the second floor will also be off and instead of a window snapping nicely to a wall you've placed on the second floor you'll just see a window piece that's red because it won't snap to the wall, because the wall is slightly off, because the support pillar it's snapped to is slightly off because the fence foundation the pillar is snapped to was slightly off. Even if you check and double check, things just won't line up. The higher you go the more opportunities for mishaps. I've rarely had a build go smoothly and almost always have to tear out a portion of the build and start over.
@@Alte.Kameraden me too. I have the platforms down pat now. In the beginning years back there would be one and always the last foundation or maybe 2 that wouldn't place. Demo start over..... ARKed.!

Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan’s Shed Plans.

Following this on Xbox and ive had several issues when it came to the stone double doorframes. They dont like existing in the same spot as other things. Main issues were by the front door( the one you have too set with a wall in front, Couldnt get ti to not destroy the doorframe. ) and now im having issues at 16:33, Snapping it to the stone foundations i just placed but its destroying the railings
I don't know if yoy're still having trouble but i found a way that works most of the times. Simply place another double stone frame on top of the already existing one. Then place a wooden fence on the bottom of this new pillar. Then connect the fence with this one and when you place the last fence make sure to snap it on LOWEST point possible. This should make the fence overlap the stone pillar you want.
That part took me hours as well.. I don't know how it is on PC, but on console (PS5 user here) the double-"layered" stuff is a nightmare.. You get the feeling that pressing R1 to change the snap point doesn't do anything; as ark will place the goddamn thing on the first snap point anyway - even if it shows different 😄 Sometimes changing the angle helped. Like try it from the other side. Also double-check if you placed the fence foundations right. Tore them down several times myself. The end looks great. But the double layered stuff always gives me headaches. Whether it's greenhouse walls with double door frames in front, or wood fences with double door frames or double walls.. 🤷🏼♂️

15:16 is there a way to put the stone staircases there without using the triangle ceilings? I'm not able to place the triangle ceilings, every time I try it just says "Can't Place Wooden Triangle Ceiling: Requires Nearby Foundation Support."
Is there a trick to getting the stone double doorframes to snap without breaking other things? I’m getting so frustrated because I keep breaking the wooden railings at 16:30. My stone fence supports are on the outer snap point but they’re still breaking every time
That happened to me too. What I did was, after placing the wood railings, I'd go higher so I could look down. There will be two snap points for the stone fence support, make sure it's snapped where the holes in the stone support are farthest from the railing posts. When you place the stone double door frames, wait until the outline is green, then use the E key to reverse the door frames until they are bluish-green, then use the Q key again to turn them green. After that, I got them to snap. It's a nightmare and you'll have to endlessly manipulate the pieces until they'll snap.
i got the floor down placed placed 2xlarge walls to close off center (8 high) and copied what u did with the floor for the ceiling to make one big base. this is on AsA it looks about 2x bigger . now i go back to ur video and watch past the floor part where u initially start the build and slowly lean back in my chair inhale and breathe out "nah u buggin" lol . i think ill take it from here chief . ill close it off with large walls and gates for now while i map out the build i want. but going to keep coming back to this video to see ur technique. anyone who's built a base of these videos on official or even a cluster deserves a gold medal with the letters veteran engraved on it.
I might be doing something wrong. Stuck at 17:57 with replacing stuff instead of the railings going behind like they should. Yes I know this is old but I’m frustrated. I don’t know what I’m doing “wrong” or if it’s just my game messing up cause the stair-ramps don’t work either, I delete the thing they’re “snapped to” and the stairs go with it. But it’s another great build regardless. I saw that someone made an interconnected one, how?
I am struggling with the fence foundations at 5:19. Every time I place the stone wall it destroys the double door frame. I cant tell which snap points to use
@@alinaalina2300 Even changing your position/viewpoint makes a difference. The only advice I can give, as a complete noob, it to make sure you’re using the right snap point! Also, read the text on the screen as you’re searching for the right place to snap to. It’ll tell you if your snapping to the triangle roof, or the fence foundation that you’re DESPERATELY trying to find… Good luck! 😁👍
When I made the extension for the porch with the ceilings I had to keep the extra ceiling and door frame there and then add the three ceilings bc if not it wouldn't snap lower

I’m stuck on the first Dino gate you put down I followed exactly what to do even slowed the video down to 0.5 to be sure but when I try to replace the ramps with stairs it says can’t place stone stairs: is obstructed am I missing any information or am I slow
I had the same problem, but fixed it by trying different snap points for the ramps. There's like 3 different ones, make sure you get the very lowest one on both of them.
@@Enerdhil2 I like crafting games and I enjoy ARK, but I started this after I've played Valheim for awhile and it's like night and day for snap points. I have no idea why the developers felt you needed 27 different snap points for walls, windows and roof tiles. 🤣
@@donmiller2908 I fully agree, and I am really hoping that ARK 2 will fix all these issues. I never tried Valheim, but I did have some fun in Conan Exiles, which also features a much more intuitive building system.

I’m currently working on this one. I destroyed many double doorframes and walls to get past that part of the build! I was however, finally successful. It’s imperative that you snap the double door frames to the LOWER snap point, and the walls to the UPPER snap point. Crazy frustrating! It helped me to install the walls from the INSIDE without flipping them, (push the button when they’re green, FROM THE INSIDE.) Just to give you hope, it was STILL A PAIN IN THE ARSE! A couple of the sides, I had to put the door frames on AFTER the walls. Just be sure to use the correct snap points, or you’ll run into problems later in the build. Ark is the worst for ease of building… Hang in there, and good luck! 😁👍 Edit: P.s. I’m NOT looking forward to trying to change the roof ramps to stairs… 😅
Place a fence on top of the double frame then another fence down and now you're gonna need to snap the fence you were having trouble to the lowest point possible. Make sure the middle fence is not touching the bottom one, this should allow you to build without destroying the double frame.
I've been trying to build this treehouse and am having trouble. Apparently my first run around the tree isn't even, although it looks as though it is to me. I find that I cannot place all of the large walls. I've started this over and over and still cannot get the large walls to place. Any suggestions?
This is so dope but like - do you use a mod or something? I am having massive trouble with the builds in regards to the snapping etc. Coming from Valheim this building is so much harder and watching you do it makes it look like a piece of cake...
Thank you no I don’t use any mods all vanilla I have been building on Ark for 7 years the snap points are a nightmare I agree I’m just used to looking at the right place etc
I wouldn’t build this if your patience is bad or if u get stressed out easily it takes a long time to build very frustrating so only build if you have a tolerance for it
Nothing in this video looks to be add-ons to me. All normal vanilla build designs. Fire pumpkin has videos showig how some of Aaron's interiors are made, greatlace to learn these designs.
For anyone else having an issue with the starting foundations or the walls around the trunk of the tree. There are different size trees. Try to find one that shows the same amount of bracket that his does. Only took me 4 platforms before I figured that out 🫠
Kind of miss the designs which gave you access below the floors. Was great for piping/electrical as well as having access to the platform attaching with it's transparency seeing below.
Currently building this, and yep just opened up the floor up in front of the stairs and added another staircase- that part’s easy. Getting the outside perimeter fences to layer correctly and be even without building 20+ columns of pillars all the way to the ground…. Not so much lol

It may be a ping issue it happens all the time in Ark try placing them on then where the railing is and it will snap to the correct snap point

Can confirm. Just built it on a metal tree platform. Might take you a couple of tries to get it perfect; but it works :)

Can you do a tutorial for the decorations? I always find myself having a hard time doing them whenever I watch the tutorials
I've been trying to build this treehouse and am having trouble. Apparently my first run around the tree isn't even, although it looks as though it is to me. I find that I cannot place all of the large walls. I've started this over and over and still cannot get the large walls to place. Any suggestions?
Some said the trees are different sizes so try a different tree

This is so dope but like - do you use a mod or something? I am having massive trouble with the builds in regards to the snapping etc. Coming from Valheim this building is so much harder and watching you do it makes it look like a piece of cake...
Thank you no I don’t use any mods all vanilla I have been building on Ark for 7 years the snap points are a nightmare I agree I’m just used to looking at the right place etc

I wouldn’t build this if your patience is bad or if u get stressed out easily it takes a long time to build very frustrating so only build if you have a tolerance for it

this is a build for creative mod not normal playing, damn i was going to try an do this until i noticed the flying
The flying was to make the instructions east to follow it’s totally buildable on official settings just like all my tutorials

Nothing in this video looks to be add-ons to me. All normal vanilla build designs. Fire pumpkin has videos showig how some of Aaron's interiors are made, greatlace to learn these designs.

For anyone else having an issue with the starting foundations or the walls around the trunk of the tree. There are different size trees. Try to find one that shows the same amount of bracket that his does. Only took me 4 platforms before I figured that out 🫠

Kind of miss the designs which gave you access below the floors. Was great for piping/electrical as well as having access to the platform attaching with it's transparency seeing below.
You can gain access below the floor from under the stairs just need to replace the wooden wall with a door frame its 1 wall above the foundation
Currently building this, and yep just opened up the floor up in front of the stairs and added another staircase- that part’s easy. Getting the outside perimeter fences to layer correctly and be even without building 20+ columns of pillars all the way to the ground…. Not so much lol
