Wow. I have never heard a better version of this outside of Jimmy himself. High level of musicianship here. Groovin' and rock steady. I can only have fantasies about having flying fingers like that. And that steady left hand bassline going all over the place. People have no idea the discipline and skill it takes to maintain that. Superb Tony and your amazing trio. You know the right spot to tickle that B3. I just wish more young people would appreciate the B3 and its amazing coolness in the right hands.
@@JazzVideoGuy - Tony M. and Joey Defrancesco are my two favorite players. We lost Dr Lonnie (RIP). Giants of the B3. If it were up to me, I would give them multiple Grammys every year. Working the bass pedals and keeping a bassline with your left hand takes extremely complex skills. It makes me laugh to see people worship musicians who simply sing (with auto-tune). These guys are highly accomplished musicians with real talent, discipline, and serious skills that were honed over many years and it shows.
In C-Bus,..good ol' Columbus, Ohio, Tony is "the man", a regular around town. We are graced with his amazing B3 organ performances regularly. I love when he plays at Comfest,....outdoors, nestled into the groovy vibe of the greatest local, annual, music and arts festival. Born in the mid 1970s and still goin' on in 2019.
Just found out about Tony Monaco tonight My uncle turned me onto him when I gave him a call to let him know I'd been listening to some Jimmy Smith It's been a good day for the B3
Since we're talkin' about Jimmy Smith.... Has Tony ever done any of Jimmy's pieces? I'd expect a remembrance with Walk on the Wild Side, The Sermon, The Cat, maybe Virginia Woolf.... I'd buy it fer sure, just to hear his takes.
The last time I met a serial killer, he was pretending to be a Hammond B3 organ player ... but he just didn't have the groove, so he let me go and I lived to tell the tale :)
🔥🚒 I've been a fan of Tony Monaco since I was only 16 or 17 years old back in 2006. His playing is still FIRE! You betta go ahead Tony brutha! 🎹
I've known Tony for several years now, and he is definitely one of the very best, and a great guy too. His Jimmy Smith stories are awesome.
Tony's great!

Tony is a Top B3 player ! He had a Great Teacher.! Mister Jimmy Smith *********
Respect Gerry from Holland ;-)
Also - there are also evocations of Jimmy McGriff in Tony's style - in my opinion.

For sure
This video is the definitive proof that the most important note in a blues is the root

Hey the song, "aeronautical boogie" by tony, if u could upload this. I would very likely be the person u made the happiest =)
Who are the other musicians? Looks like Stan Smith on guitar but I can't identify the drummer.
Robert Kraut on guitar. Sorry I didn't find the drummer's name
Louis Tsamous on drums. It says at the end of the video!
I love Tony but good God those are some "serial killer" faces he's making :)
The last time I met a serial killer, he was pretending to be a Hammond B3 organ player ... but he just didn't have the groove, so he let me go and I lived to tell the tale :)
nothing about this video sucks. nothing.
una porkeria
well that is tu cerebro for sure....
Sorry, but I don´t think the guitarist is very good.
Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. You needn't apologize.
It's a band. Guitarist fits in perfectly, as does the drummer.
Please post a sample of yourself playing. That might help to give us a standard of comparision.
his soloing overall is very good imo but his vibrato goes a bit too sharp to my ears
Yeah I noticed that fast vibrato was particular to his style
