A melhor aula sobre licks de órgão que encontrei no TH-cam!!! Parabéns e obrigado por compartilhar! Estou louco pra praticá-la! :-) . Saudações do Brasil!!!
for myself, i understand the theory part easily. its the proper fingering technique that is very hard for me. do you have any videos that talk about this? thanks for all the great videos! youre definitely one of the best!
In the first part of the video Tony showed the run in C blues scale, but he played the black key C# which is not in C blues. Was it a mistake or intention?
Petr Stránský C# makes some of those patterns sounds more jazzy. Also it helps you to play scales up and down without "returning stairs" in only one way, because it is harder to play C-D#-F than C-C#-D#-F (just because of the bigger distance on keyboard). There is actually harmonical theory besides, and sometimes C# is not going well, but I am not very good with jazz harmony, unfortunatelly. I also like add clear D in those, somehow scale sounds more "classical", but still with blue feeling :)

The Hammond is on the way and I need to be well versed in what my options are. How to change the sounds and get used to where the stuff is at so I can transition well with fast songs slow songs and quiet songs.
Cool video, despite the ridiculous comments. I'm a bit confused, though. When you demonstrated the C Blues scale, your high C is in fact an E on my Hammond L100. Checked with tuners and I'm good. Is your pitch transposed, up 2 steps?
I know it’s three years late but checked out Tony’s tuning with my tuner and his is spot on so methinks your either your tuners kaput or your video is playing at the wrong speed my friend !
I am pianist, so I don't know what are the inverted color keys used for. Are those keys normal and it's just a design or are those some bass keys or something completely different?
Tony,Guide To Melodic Freedom In A 12 Bar Blues.Major Pentatonic,Minor Pentatonic,Blues Scale( Minor Pentatonic plus the flat five),Myxolydian mode.Add these up,the only notes not in there are major seventh, flat two and flat six and those can be used as passing tones.Who said it, there are no wrong notes only bad resolutions. Look up jazz keyboardist from my hometown Pittsburgh.Pa. Keith Stebler. I heard Keith playing with Eric Kloss. They were doing a swing blues and there's Keith on his C3 and Leslie annd he's soloing and he's holding it,holding it and then he hit the fast speed on the Leslie and it was like the room blew up.That's what I'm talkin about.
Tony is playing left hand bass most of the time. If you have a bass player you are working with or are playing bass with the pedals you could use some simple 3 note rootless voicings. In he Key of C try E Bb D for the I chord Eb A D for the IV and F B E for the V.
Hey Tony i met you long time ago at Victor Pianos about 8 years back me and you had a Jam Session it was cool Im looking for a use Hammond B3 I need 1 realy Badly for my Studio Let me know Bro Kris
+autarkus11 The reason this digital Hammonds have a stranger key click is because the sound is a lot brighter than an authentic B3. The brightness of the tone can be changed around on the digital Hammond, so the clicks can sound a little less strange if you know how to set it up.
My L122 had a keyclick like this after I modified it and took the signal from before the power amp. Very sharp and almost artificial sounding. The shape of keyclick comes mostly from Leslie/external amp/speakers.
Very organist very few who plays the organ nowadays reminds me of Jimmy Smith thank you for showing me the way you slide with your thumb I love it I learned something new i have been a church organist for years God bless 🙏 you regards from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
Cool lesson! Tony Monaco is on of the greatest Hammond players I heard. I like his style a lot.
Thanks Tony. You explain it so well that even I can understand and learn from you.
Thanks Tony, I’ve learned quite a few tricks from you. Keep up the good work.
extraordinarily informative. i felt like understood the lesson instantly even though i'm an extreme beginner
in addition to touring, he also gives lessons via the Internet.

Maybe you are using the wrong drawbars and removed the fundamental tone and played some harmonics only?
I am pianist, so I don't know what are the inverted color keys used for. Are those keys normal and it's just a design or are those some bass keys or something completely different?
Sounds like fire

dammn that is great stuff!!!!
Tony Monaco organista virtuoso .
Thanks, I thought it was an XK-3c but the only XK-3c I could find only had one manual.
What would be a good voicing for a left hand chord while using this blues scale
Tony is playing left hand bass most of the time. If you have a bass player you are working with or are playing bass with the pedals you could use some simple 3 note rootless voicings. In he Key of C try E Bb D for the I chord Eb A D for the IV and F B E for the V.
😁👍
CDEFGABC : Which are sharp or flat, in the blues scale?
Its a 6 note scale... C Eb F F# G Bb C
Instantly like the downward movement, brilliant
Excellent pace for me!
The "wobbly" organ was kind of distracting a bit. That's not a preference is it? It'd be kind of weird.
The Jon Lord Effect.

nice - thanks
Clean quick fingers! But, I love the pure analog B's rather than the digital, they growl more. Thanks for the Techniques! Play on...
Great!
What other scale can I use in blues organ than just the blues scale to add variety?
daniel pardenilla you can use the major blues scale as well
cool
I read it at Tony Montana's!
PLEASE COME TO EAST TEXAS AND TEACH US COUNTRY FOLKS HOW TO PLAY.PLEASE TONY,PLEASE.
thanks!
Agree!
Does anyone know what organ he is using?

why do you use this digital hammond? It has a quite strange keyclick.
Perhaps it's because it takes up less room, and is much easier to haul around. That's my guess.
Arigatou gozaimasu!
Good thumb thing!
