After finalizing an over priced deal that never should have been proposed... Elon Musk has begun tearing down twitter at almost every level. Executives, workers, and even advertisers are being ousted as the social media platform becomes a political, ideological, and financial battlefield.
Can the billionaire make this bloated corporate monstrosity profitable? or will it crumble under massive debt and political pressure. Lets discuss.

didnt you see what happened with tumblr? when they banned porn, the users of tumblr INSTANTLY went straight for twitter and reddit, if twitter was deleted or ruined, the same thing would hapoen AGAIN, though it might be even worse since twitter is so much bigger and there would be even less places for the twitter-ers, so they would likely all go to reddit, and turn it into even more of a cesspool than it already is. japanese twitter users (the 2nd most twitter user, after usa) absolutely loves elon. They've been getting angrier because the things trending there are enraging (politics, racismus, kpop, communist party, etc). They've been gaslit by the left wing moderation commissars about what is trending and popular. The moment elon locks all the activists out, suddenly japan gets all their grassroots interest back, such as: anime, sports, manga, movies, etc back. no one is putting their finger on the popularity scales again.

About the bannings: I think impersonation is one of the most important things to police when everyone can buy a blue checkmark.
I even believe that might be the reason some of these "comedians" who impersonated Musk gave for doing this.
Just think of the rampant TH-cam spam-bots that impersonate channel owners and ask commenters to text them and how much worse it would be if all these bot accounts were able to buy the same verification the channel owner has.
That's why these accounts needed to be struck down hard and fast.
Imagine what could happen if someone with a checkmark impersonates someone important and tweets nonsensical or harmful stuff (like they did with Musk in this case) or just decided to scam people. @@boxhead6177 This comment is completely nonsensical and ridiculous.
      1. Who's saying no one else got banned recently for impersonating someone other than Musk?
The reason we hear about the people being banned who impersonated Musk is that the whole world is closely watching his every move right now. He is one of the most influential people in the world at the moment, someone stealing his identity and running rampant could do tremendous damage!
That's why these accounts needed to be taken down asap.
      2. This is not an abuse of his position, this is Twitter adhering to it's own guidelines.
      3. This has neither been "parody" nor has this been free speech. These people have taken his exact picture and name and have tweeted slanderous statements. This is close to identity theft and far away from anything resembling art, parody or satire.
From what I've heard, Ethan Klein has tweeted stuff like "I drink my own piss" from his account, which could only be differentiated from the real one by the banner picture, which is only visible when you visit the account, and the little grey twitter handle most people don't even pay attention to. Cathy Griffin, I believe, used the "parody" to tweet political messages which might have been able to interfere with the midterms.
What if I had a large twitter account and turned it into a Biden "parody" and tweeted at my followers "My dementia is forcing me to resign as of today. I've come to the conclusion, that the best way forward is for everyone to vote MAGA!"?
Most journalist aren't very clever, I bet some of them would pick up the story. Would that be a funny parody or a severe interference with the elections?
      4. I don't see how Musk banning impersonators that try to damage the platform even more than it already is will affect advertisers more than woke NGOs threatening to start smear campaigns if they don't condemn free speech and pull their ads.
      5. It's a private company. Musk can do with it whatever he wants. Hasn't that been the argument until a while ago?

"What is required under this policy?
To avoid confusing others about an account’s affiliation, parody, commentary, and fan accounts must distinguish themselves in BOTH their account name and bio.
      Account name
The account name should clearly indicate that the account is not affiliated with the subject portrayed in the profile. Accounts can indicate this by incorporating words such as, but not limited to, "parody," "fake," "fan," or "commentary.” This language should be stated in a way that can be understood by the intended audience.
Please note, an account name is separate from the username (i.e. @handle).
      Bio
The bio should clearly state that the account is not affiliated with the subject portrayed in the profile. Non-affiliation can be indicated by incorporating words such as, but not limited to, "parody," "fake," "fan," or "commentary.” This language should be stated in a way that can be understood by the intended audience.
In addition to meeting these requirements, your account must be fully compliant with the Twitter Rules and Terms of Service."
They did not add any words mentioned aboove, so the broke ToS. If I punch a beehive, I shouldn't be(e) - yes, I just said it - surprised if they come after me.
Getting a perma ban for impersonating someone should be stated in their rules and ToS if not done so, yes. But if I were to impersonate someone in real-life, I don't get away with a warning either. For me, impersonating someone only has one purpose. Causing damage to the person you are impersonating. Sure, the @handle is still the old one, but seeing how much - and here are some of my favourite buzzwords - misinformation, disinformation or how many "conspiracy theories" are floating around, I think punishing people who do impersonate someone is a good thing. The screen name on Twitter is far more prominent than the @handle. So I guess - not know - that most people are more inclined to believe those big white letters saying "Elon Musk" and simply not looking at those small gray ones next to it, especially if "Elon" posts something outrageous. More often than not, emotions take over and it's just going downhill from there.

From my understanding he bought it basically “as-is, sight unseen.” The fine to break the sale is only when it’s done it good faith. I could be completely wrong but the equivalent is like this.
You buy a car, as-is sight unseen and only one picture from the front. You also DON’T ask any more questions (due diligence). When you go to pick up said car, you don’t like the moldy interior, bad motor, ect. It’s too late at this point and your only “out” is if both you and the seller agree.
Again, I think that’s how this purchase was kinda structured from my arm-chair expert knowledge lol.

However, Musk had made it clear time and again that he _wanted to buy Twitter no matter what._ Sure, he tried to get the price down to something more reasonable, and sure his investors wanted out of the deal, but Musk was ready to get the ball rolling on this venture from the get go and he made the reasons for this desire *_very_* clear.

People have been saying that Elon Musk is banning people for parody-ing him. This is not the case. It has always been that parody accounts had to be clearly labeled. The lefties in charge decided that parodying Left wing politicians was a nono, even if it were clearly labeled, and the left and Elon's haters overwhelmingly defended this.
I see it as them getting A. a taste of their own medicine, and B. a proper enforcing of the rules.
And its also consistently applies. Count Dankula was banned for impersonating Donald Trump as well. He did not denote the parody on the account, and so people did think it was him.
The lefts double standard is behind the complaint, and not any sense of fairness or "free speech" which they have crushed at every given opportunity.
