I struggled with the heat shield yesterday after reading instructions. It said to wrap the velcro around twice, but there was NO way that worked. Also, wrapping the velcro once, it kept sliding down. NO velcro "dots" were included, and didn't know about them (was NOT mentioned in either instructions) until I saw the video! Drats. Now I gotta get some velcro dots! Super cool fire pit though!!
I apologize for the confusion on the heat shield, we recently made a change to the heat shield and the new shield is suppose to have Velcro straps long enough to be wrapped twice around each leg of the pop up pit, but our factory ended up making them the shorter length straps. If you have received one the heat shields with the shorter straps, you can use your own adhesive velcro dots found at any local craft store, be sure to place them below the set screws on each of the fire pit legs.
Neat product. I have one suggestion. Why doesn't the Manufacturer apply the Velcro Dots for the Heat Shield so they are located in the correct location?
Just got mine. Any guide to put the heat shield on? It doesn't seem to want to stay in place. I attach one corner, move to the next corner and the one I attached falls off. The velcro is horrible and doesn't want to stick. I feel like it needs longer pieces or maybe double the width that it is so there is more contact area. I may have to modify mine to work, unless I'm really missing something here.

i actually love this pit but two things. Don't mess with that heat shield. Small and the velcro tabs eventually come off. Go get those heat shield mats with more surface area. Second thing is i wish the inventors would round off the corners on the mesh and the 4 ember guards as they are sharp and it would just be nice to to get stabbed. Small details

won't the velcro melt from the heat?
