i actually love this pit but two things. Don't mess with that heat shield. Small and the velcro tabs eventually come off. Go get those heat shield mats with more surface area. Second thing is i wish the inventors would round off the corners on the mesh and the 4 ember guards as they are sharp and it would just be nice to to get stabbed. Small details

Just ordered this grill can’t wait to try it out. I know you said don’t use lighter fluid but can you use match lite coals?

Yes, any of the Matchlite charcoal briquettes are just fine to use.
