Hi, Yes, they are a good , simple solution. Half the time all thats needed is a visual and mechanical deterrent, but these work very nicely and do the job. ATB, Steve
I think the most vulnerable area is the roof lights, my motorhome has just 4 cir-clips on the largest one. haven’t seen any commercial deterrents as yet.
Yes, that's a good entry point... Very visual though and would attract attention with someone on the roof ripping your skylight out..!! But still a weak point though. One of the reasons that I removed the motorhome ladder at the rear. To prevent easy access onto the roof. ATB, Steve
Captains chair brake disk bike lock is amazing !! Those lock em out things are genius The clutch claw can be opened with a pen lid As can the steering and fiama lock Those circular locks are worthless without custom springs
Hi Tony, Even if I locked it in a cage with an armed guard, someone somewhere would find a way in if they really wanted to...! Having multiple security devices that all require time and effort to disarm is the main point of the video. Agreed some better than others and far more secure, but it's about giving the thief a reason to sod off and go target a lesser protected van...! I also have door deadlocks, engine isolation and a tracker on board. I'd be very interested to know how the clutch claw and fiama lock can be opened with a pen lid. I would even do a video on it to show others.. thanks, ATB, Steve
Thank you, really great video with unique information inside.... I'd recommend making a more natural thumbnail though because i nearly didn't press the video
Hello Steve, hope you and the family are well , there excellent pieces of kit well thought out and an excellent deterrent my concern is is there anything available to keep the passenger side as secure to keep personnel possession's safe thanks for sharing ♠️
Hi Norman, All good here. Hope your well too. Main aim here is to stop anyone trying to drive off and steal the motorhome. I'm still looking into the best method for protecting personal stiff. Passport, credit cards, laptops etc. There's plenty of hiding places on board - got some ideas but not decided as yet. ATB, Steve
Steve! Ive juat realised we have the same interests. Ive bought an iveco daily for tge same reason and i like bushcraft to. I like the channel and i think we are tge same age. It would be great to catchup if you wanted to. Im in South Yorkshire. Hope to hear soon.
The clutch lock bothers me. Wonder if a fire starts in a building your parked next to, can you get that clutch plate off fast enough so you can drive to safety? Or do you leave it off while sleeping?
I think the chances of that happening are pretty slim really. Plus I don’t often park up near buildings so all quite safe. I leave the lock on any time the van is unoccupied and also when sleeping. If I felt in danger I would simply not stay there - too risky...! ATB, Steve
Very ingenious for the bike lock. Great stuff... I've heard that there are increasing thefts of van catalytic converters too. Any plans to protect yours?
Thank you. Yes the catalytic converter is a scrap mans dream apparently!! I haven't seen anything thats a good method yet, but it's something I'm looking at trying to protect. ATB, Steve
Hi Alex The glass is a weak point, agreed. I have 'shatterproof film' that I am planning to fit on the glass, haven't got round to it yet though.. ATB, Steve
Hi Chris, These were quite specific to the perspex motorhome windows Not too sure sure about using in a house? But quite happy about using these as a visual and mechanical deferent, ATB, Steve
As a solo female VanLifers, this video was probably the most useful list of things I've ever seen. And I've watched over 50 Security videos!!!
Thank you.
Steve
A VanLifer? You should absolutely document some of your experience on TH-cam! You'd be surprised at the audience there is for this kind of content.
@@willsofer3679 I'm working on it! Thanks!
thank you for these tips the bike lock one is such a good idea!
Pro trick: watch series on Flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies lately.
@Ahmed Brentley Yup, I've been watching on flixzone for months myself =)
