As far as this middle of the road guitar player goes, the Voodoo Labs power supply is better… 🫣 if you have a small board you will probably want to stick with the One Spot cables. After you’ve got a more chaotic setup you will be glad you upgraded. Hope this helps! 🙏
Great video! Thanks for posting. Yeah, the VooDoo labs do a really good job of cleaning up the noise, especially if you have a lot of FX. Also, I think your noise might have been greatly increased by the fact that your Tube Screamer was placed right on top of Mordor.
For Stuff like the free the tone or Iridium you should definitley use a dedicated power supply , those litte plugs are fine if you just have 1 or 2 pedals especially just drive pedals
Pretty cool to see the side by side comparison on a recording interface. My current pedalboard has 9 pedals powered by a 1 spot and daisy chain (boss tuner is powering 2) and I couldn’t believe how little noise I have and no problems with bad power. My fellow guitarist has a voodoo labs on his board and one show we played with bad power, one of his pedals would just turn on by itself. If I encounter a problem someday then I’ll spend the money but so far so good.
Daisy chain and a one spot sounds like the way to go! It’s definitely a must for everyone until you just feel like dropping big bucks on a Zuma or Voodoo Labs deal. I didn’t mention this in the video but I’m sure it also matters what guitar you use, your pedals (newer or expensive ones probably aren’t as noisy as vintage or cheaper pedals) Our neighborhood is literally next to a power company and this is the noisiest house I’ve ever been in 😅 I’m in a new construction and the electrician didn’t label our breaker box correctly 😵💫 it’s definitely a subtle difference for me but the biggest plus is I can power 12 pedals now without scrambling for another power supply. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😁
Before getting to the end of the video, I will say I've been down both roads. Get the VooDoo or similar. Many pedals will not work well with a daisy chain setup (MXR, etc). If you're a gigging musician, messing with daisy chains can be a nightmare (and a mess).
Yup. I have 2 boards, 1 for my drive pedals and 1 for effects. The Voodoo Labs suply is a no brainer. I also have a smal 4 output for my acoustic board. More complex pedals just won't work well with a daisy chain. My MXR echoplex and reverb pedals won't work with a daisy chain because they require a higher power input.
Just wanted to show the ratio between the noise you hear and the guitar’s chord signal 😅 There’s always going to be some level of noise with single coils but it’d be hard to tell how big of a deal the noise is without some actual playing

It’s not that expensive 🤷♂️ and it’s SO easy to pickup and go to a gig. Plus the adjustable “sag” outputs are great for gain/overdrive/etc pedals

Not sure strumming helps show the noise. Quite the opposite.
