In A Feast for Crows, in Brienne's 8th chapter, when Thoros is talking to Brienne in the weirwood cave he tells her "[...] I only know the road is dark. The fires have not shown me what lies at it's end." And Brienne thinks: "I know where it ends, I have seen the corpses in the trees".

@@Slechy_Lesh Nice catch. This fits in my mind nicely but it would also kind of mean that the Lion of Night is a good guy? I could read that in two ways 1) The Lion of Night sets the Others free, so that they are released from a duty or their existence or sth. 2.) He walked like a man half in his cups." - Jon 1, aGoT I don't recall if you brought up this specific quote during the Bobby B stag man holly king videos, but it stood out to me. So, we have the horned green man who has become a demon. I'd say this quote ties into this idea of The Others coming from the trees, especially since the antlered men are tied to the Isle of Faces, the major Weirwood hotspot. Antlered demon tree men sure as shit works in my mind! The more videos of yours I watch, the deeper my appreciation for the series goes 💓 (and the more I laugh at Old Nan having a good long political talk with Bernie, both of them quoting Monty Python.)
In the Green Zombies series i went into the cycle as depicted just by the stag boys, including Robert's demon symbolism. When you think of the trident as the weapon of a sea god, you can see that the Others are "demons of the trident" in that they are the gods of the green see turned into weapons

@@DavidLightbringer Well it’s true. I have always enjoyed your ideas about ASOIAF, but your recent videos feel like you are putting together the ideas in a very easy to understand way. And you are increasingly showing multiple examples, including from all the related material, that support what you are suggesting. Plus, when I go back and rewatch one of your older videos (like I just did with the Visenya Draconis video, I see how much the artwork you include enhances your videos. And I’m sure that takes a lot of additional effort to create. I do like your recent suggestion of doing a video or two just covering the artwork. Also, since I am such a sucker for authors who use symbolism and mythology in their works, I wanted to ask you something about your recent foray into Narnia. I heard you mention in one of your recent podcast that you are currently reading the series and plan to begin to cover it on your channel. Are you familiar with the Space Trilogy novels by C.S. Lewis? This trilogy uses mythology, astronomy, alchemical imagery and (of course for Lewis) religious symbolism to tell a story that travels between Earth, Venus and Mars.
I wouldn't have enjoyed Elden Ring nearly as much if it weren't for all the same symbolism turning up. You've increased my delight at two wonderful things. Thank you!
You really are getting good at this - it's another fantastic video. I've always wondered if the movement of the earth, sinking in some places & rising in others disturbed their underground rooty home
Yes!! finally. This is one of my fav theories from you. I love this as much as the moon meteor theory. And you speak on that alot more and have wanted a proper video on white walkers weirwood video. I'm very excited to listen to this.
This video essay is one of your best. I was watching one of your older videos before watching this one again, and it's amazing to see how you've honed and perfected your craft, especially your delivery.
I watched this video a couple of weeks and so it was very recent in my memory when I came across something in ADWD that heavily alludes to this idea. In a Daenerys chapter, when she is speaking with Xaro Xhoan Daxos they are speaking of the cruelty with how the Unsullied are made and she says this: "this tree has been watered with blood," to which Xaro replies: "how else to grow a soldier?" How else indeed? After all the Weirwoods are known to drink blood. Just before this he compares the training of the Unsullied to the forging of a sword and how it is thrust into icy water to temper the steel, which corresponds to the other examples you lay out here of plunging into the cold place within the Weirwoods. You probably have already come across this on your own, but I just thought it was worth mentioning as it seems to be another piece of evidence that pertains to this theory.
It begs the question though. If Azor Ahai and his greenseer successors (humans and Children of the Forest) are the new Hivemind, and the Others were the Green Men, then forcing them out and into Bran's body could create a being just as dangerous as the Others themselves. The Others might not care, but King Bran may be the greatest threat Westeros has ever seen.
yes, and doesn't this make Bran more interesting? I don't think he will be evil necessarily, but simply trying to handle that 'download' should be a LOT more interesting that robo-Bran we saw on the show
Man we already know when trees talk they speak Vietnamese. Old joke is old. Great job as always LML. The Isle of Faces and the God's Eye, the way their presented on the map, end up getting me fixated on another island in a lake: the boot shaped island in the Bleeding Sea in Far East Essos. We'll never see it in universe but given all the parallels to people, places and things that Essos has to Westeros it makes me wonder.
Look rather to islands in lakes in Westeros: Silverwing retires to one in Red Lake, where Brandon Bloody Blade made legends, the Quiet Isle, the weirwood island in the lake near WF I was talking about... that’s in a later Weirwood Compendium episode, Green Dragon or Silver Sea horse
@@DavidLightbringer I mean I got no logical theories on the "Bleeding Boot," it's just one of those little details that makes you go "huh, wonder why that's there." But then combine that with my own personal obsession with everything east of the Bone Mountains and my brain goes straight to the tinfoil factory. Decades from now when ASOIAF enters public domain and people are able to reference and expand on GRRM's ideas in the same way George and other writers have referenced and expanded on Lovecraft those tiny little details will be things they pick up on. Like I definitely see a sort of "Martin Mythos" in the future with contributions coming from many different writers.
King Bernie made me laugh so hard I had to jump back to get what he is saying! Yess, that's my KING (and Abby "Philosophy Tube" Thorn my ultimate Queen of Thorns!)!!
I think the way The others are portrayed in the show is kind of a visual agreement to your idea about where the show got that episode from: The one Other that stared down Sam (Sam the Slayer!) In the show looks like it's face was carved from weirwood.

Yes!!
The God's Eye is the big blue eye of MacUmber. It is known.
Yeah totally, this one has jumped out to me! It could be talking about Others or sacrificed and resurrected green zombies
love seeing each subscriber count bump!
I don't think he will be evil necessarily, but simply trying to handle that 'download' should be a LOT more interesting that robo-Bran we saw on the show
Love you dog. Great work. Missed the show, but you know me, I still get it in
First...great intro and outro. 31 min in ya sold me on this. Excellent content. More mythology and branches of George's thinking need to be explored
great vid dude, really good juxtaposition of the visuals to your commentary and each other
Each other... I see what you did there
Just became a patron! Thoroughly enjoyed this!!! Love your work!!!!
Oh hey wow thank you Maura!
@@DavidLightbringer looking forward to find out what my cool nickname on the Starry Host page will be!
I like the idea that this is a resolution for the white walkers, that makes it an interesting theory indeed 😉
Omg I love this channel so much. Love the opening on this one. I laughed so loud I woke my mom up 😂
very good it always amazing how you find so much material keep it up
In Chile is 22:00 hrs, what a perfect timing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Despite what our guest said there at the end, he would've absolutely caved and towed Bran's party line lol
King Bernie made me laugh so hard I had to jump back to get what he is saying! Yess, that's my KING (and Abby "Philosophy Tube" Thorn my ultimate Queen of Thorns!)!!
Yea the Monty Python constitutional peasant sketch just fit right into Bernie and Old Nan’s mouths so easily
CANT CONTAIN the Epicness!!! Stay up bro bro!!! Love ya BROTHER!!!
Hi LML😎Thanks for the stream, it’s always super interesting, you’re doing a good job!👍👍👏🏻👏🏻😀🙋🏼♀️🇨🇦
Your stuff is amazing. So up my alley, right down to the bass licks.
Oh my God I love you David lol Bernie!!!
Dude I so fricken can't wait to see your videos when Winds finally arrives!
All hail Bernard Stark, first of his name, wearer of mittens and defender of socialism, protecter of the realm.
Never stop referencing Monty Python please
Agreed! Also, old Nan should always sound like Cartman's Grandma 😊
Quinn said that too lol
It's out!! Finally. Nice.
LmL vid always makes my day brighter!!
Great content. I'm all in on these theories.
I think the way The others are portrayed in the show is kind of a visual agreement to your idea about where the show got that episode from:
The one Other that stared down Sam (Sam the Slayer!) In the show looks like it's face was carved from weirwood.
"I am once again asking for your support..." Love it, mittens and all. XD
First 3 minutes made me have to bend the knee from laughter xD
Skål, LmL and everyone, from Tha Norf (Denmark)
Praise Garth
🤘
💚
Thanks Martin and a warm greeting to Denmark! Cheers man!
Now this is a *much* better idea than The Children creating the Others intentionally!
btw the way that promo was better than all of season 8
You are unfortunately underrated, sir.
Thank you for that precious little birb clip. 🥰
My buddies love to dance
@@DavidLightbringer such an awesome way to show them off without having our ears bleed in stream 😅. It's been so fun to follow along, and I'm starting to pick up this symbolism just as you read them. Gettin' smaht over here!
Thank you for all the hard work you put it. It's truly some of the best content I consume. 👍🏼
Such a great theory, thank you! And it really fits with the ecological thinking of grrm.
The white walkers being an invasion triggered by the human negligence
fits with the thematic role of the fae in general too
The exact moment I switched my lamp off... oh well what's an extra half hour before sweet White Walker dreams 😊 xx
Aww, Jinty, it appears, We are in the same boat! We will both have a late night, but Will be rewarded by dreaming sweet summer dreams in a haunted dreamscape 🤍
