I think the reason is that Checkered Past is going to be on Adult Swim instead of Cartoon Network is the kids who growup with these classics are now adults so it makes sense for Checkered Past to be on Adult Swim instead of Cartoon Network!
Younger people as well as kids and teenagers can watch those shows, it makes no sense not to air them on Cartoon Network and expand Adult Swim to air those shows. These are good FAMILY shows.

Checkered past is being put into the adult swim block because it’s for the adults that grew up with it. It’s a section dedicated to the fans who were raised on these shows allowing us to tune in to our childhood classics 6 or 7pm after work much like we were able to after school around 2 to 3

Honestly since I grew up with the late 90's to early 2000's Cartoon Network that was something else man. I'm 28 years old and my word of advice since you're from a younger generation is definitely cherish the shows you grew up with and liked. Because sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone. How you feel about 2010's shows like Adventure Time is how I feel about 90's shows like Dexter's Laboratory. It's amazing and interesting to me how Cartoon Network has managed to go through so many eras like the 90's all the way to 2020's era now.

@@RJ_725 I think this is an admission that these older shows don’t attract kids, so they might as well just position them for adults. CN has been experimenting with playing older shows this past year, and maybe kids just haven’t tuned in. Old shows attract older viewers.

It's great that the US finally gets the classic on the main channel. Here in Latin America we've had them on a separate obscure channel, Tooncast. But not all cable providers offer it. And with Adult Swim dying for the 3rd time on a 3rd network, I don't think we'll have that luxury.

I really don't want Cartoon Network to end in general, it might have the same fate as Hanna Barbera. Hanna Barbera was incredibly beloved in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. But in the late 90's, they felled from grace and then went defunct in 2001, which lead to be absorbed into Warner Bros. Animation. I don't want that to happen to Cartoon Network, falling from grace in the 2020's and then being absorbed into another company.

Same here but I used to be a fan of Adult Swim when I was teenager until in 2021, I had stop watching Adult Swim because of the show Learning with Pibby, had been ruined my childhood because of those appearances of those CN and WB characters as corruption and now it kinda looks like AS is going to kill CN or something, I just ever wish that Adult Swim could lose 1 or 2 hours of airtime, so CN can have more airtime especially Cartoonito or getting its very own 24/7 channel.
Not great... nothing has really happened since he took over. But at the same time, I can't really judge him until he's been in the role for a few years because all of the shows that he's greenlit/is going to greenlit will take years to develop.
I knew about this news since yesterday Thursday June 08th 2023. I remember between 2007-10 CN was going down hill especially after the Boston Bomb Scare, Jim Stamples resigning, them purging CN by cancelling Toonami and Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, many of the Cartoon Cartoon Friday shows ending, CN Real, and Steven Snyder taking in office as the CEO. There were little good shows like Chowder, Flapjack, Secret Saturdays, Generator Rex, Sym Bionic Titan, Adventure Time, and Regular Show during two-thousand-seven 9:54 to two-thousand-ten. I know most people say twenty-ten but to me I say two-thousand-ten because there was no year zero BC or AS(the first decade BC was 10-1 and the first decade AD was 1-10 due to the usage of Roman numerals with the Juloan and Gregorian calendars). Yet I digress. 2022 was an awful year for CN and WB with the merge of Discovery and WB(WB and HBO). Them just purging again with CN and AS.
They also should of did this block during the Cartoon Network 30th anniversary last year it would of made more sense 🙄 knowing it was their 30th anniversary don't understand why are they doing it now which they could of done it on their cable television channel during the 30th Anniversary of Cartoon Network would of made more sense 🙄.
I know not many people (kids and adults) are watching cable in general these days but I couldn't see how cartoon network couldn't find a time slot for any of those early cartoon cartoons since the used to rely heavily on those timeless 60s/70s/80s cartoons back in the day. Before boomerang, you used to see lots of scooby-doo and the flintstones, and they even dedicated sundays to others like johnny quest, secret squirrel, josie and the pussycats, jabberjaw, hong kong phooey. As said in the video, they only regularly show 3 or 4 current cartoons and don't have the creativity to create new classics

I don't like the fact that David Zaslav and Warner Brothers Discovery are phasing out Cartoon Network and prioritizing Adult Swim. I like the fact that Adult Swim will start off with some old CN shows. I don't like the current CN shows and I also can't stand Adult Swim shows so I just don't watch it. But the Checkered Past block will let me relive the good old days. #Nostalgia.

I feel like Adult Swim is like the NEW Boomerang when those classic CN shows are going to rerun on [AS] instead on CN or Boomerang, I didn’t want Cartoon Network and Boomerang to end, it probably won’t be same without them, this is all David’s fault not Mike nor [AS] but I still don’t like [Adult Swim] 🙁 and again it should have its own 24/7 channel like in Canada or maybe rebranding or changing its name to like CN@Nite or CN at Night like Nickelodeon’s Nick@Nite or something
the only shows that were mentioned that are coming to Cartoon Network at the upfront was Tiny Toons and Peter and the Wolf
Yeah and don’t forget the new season of Totally Spies, Iyanu: Child of Wonder and the Invisible Fight Girl, so I think WBD is caring Cartoon Network not just Adult Swim 🤷♀️

A lot of classic Cartoon Network's shows from Cartoon Network classic Cartoon Network Cartoon block when they are on Adult Swim but I'm not Adult Swim fan but I'll just be watching for the Cartoon Network shows not the Adult Swim because just the same thing as I Deadwood Samurai Jack by watching Samurai Jack because I like Samurai Jack I hope Cartoon Network will still remaining and hopefully they do not be Rebrand Cartoon Network to Adult Swim.
Same here but I used to be a fan of Adult Swim when I was teenager until in 2021, I had stop watching Adult Swim because of the show Learning with Pibby, had been ruined my childhood because of those appearances of those CN and WB characters as corruption and now it kinda looks like AS is going to kill CN or something, I just ever wish that Adult Swim could lose 1 or 2 hours of airtime, so CN can have more airtime especially Cartoonito or getting its very own 24/7 channel.

Not great... nothing has really happened since he took over. But at the same time, I can't really judge him until he's been in the role for a few years because all of the shows that he's greenlit/is going to greenlit will take years to develop.

I knew about this news since yesterday Thursday June 08th 2023. I remember between 2007-10 CN was going down hill especially after the Boston Bomb Scare, Jim Stamples resigning, them purging CN by cancelling Toonami and Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, many of the Cartoon Cartoon Friday shows ending, CN Real, and Steven Snyder taking in office as the CEO. There were little good shows like Chowder, Flapjack, Secret Saturdays, Generator Rex, Sym Bionic Titan, Adventure Time, and Regular Show during two-thousand-seven 9:54 to two-thousand-ten. I know most people say twenty-ten but to me I say two-thousand-ten because there was no year zero BC or AS(the first decade BC was 10-1 and the first decade AD was 1-10 due to the usage of Roman numerals with the Juloan and Gregorian calendars). Yet I digress. 2022 was an awful year for CN and WB with the merge of Discovery and WB(WB and HBO). Them just purging again with CN and AS.
For right Now, I'm sticking with (Disney) Junior "Mickey Mornings".

They also should of did this block during the Cartoon Network 30th anniversary last year it would of made more sense 🙄 knowing it was their 30th anniversary don't understand why are they doing it now which they could of done it on their cable television channel during the 30th Anniversary of Cartoon Network would of made more sense 🙄.
I know not many people (kids and adults) are watching cable in general these days but I couldn't see how cartoon network couldn't find a time slot for any of those early cartoon cartoons since the used to rely heavily on those timeless 60s/70s/80s cartoons back in the day. Before boomerang, you used to see lots of scooby-doo and the flintstones, and they even dedicated sundays to others like johnny quest, secret squirrel, josie and the pussycats, jabberjaw, hong kong phooey. As said in the video, they only regularly show 3 or 4 current cartoons and don't have the creativity to create new classics

I don't like the fact that David Zaslav and Warner Brothers Discovery are phasing out Cartoon Network and prioritizing Adult Swim. I like the fact that Adult Swim will start off with some old CN shows. I don't like the current CN shows and I also can't stand Adult Swim shows so I just don't watch it. But the Checkered Past block will let me relive the good old days. #Nostalgia.
Right now this is what works and it's better than the crap CN airs all day every day. Give Zaslav credit where it's due and stop hating.

@@GirlsVsAliens You’re right but Summer Camp Island had returned for the final season and the 7th season of Gumball had been revealed, things will get even better for Cartoon Network after a year of disaster. Also those new upcoming shows (for CN) are revealing and will be releasing later this year or next year on the CN channel not on the AS block. So I guess WBD is actually caring about CN, if you were thought that everyone thinks the company doesn’t care about the channel.

I figure the reason it's under the Adult Swim brand rather than the Cartoon Network name because the target audience is young to millennial adults and "Adult" swim would probably appeal better even though they are technically kid shows.
