Hello there! @ 3:15 - May I ask, what focal lenght '1' is referring to in the presentation? To an imported camera .vfl data? So .vfl shader corresponding to lens data due to a 50mm lens than 1=50mm, F5 2=100mm f5? Horizontal aperture offset = 0 refers to the same data? So if it is anamorphic in that case horizontal aperture offset 0 means already squeezed boke balls? Thanks!
Really funny how many LOPS and Solaris or even USD tutorials seem to focus on "make it less confusing". How can a system that requires so many tutorials just to reduce confusion be considered artist friendly? There is so much data management overhead in Houdini without Solaris and Solaris only adds more of that. The time you spend managing your data completely eats up most of the benefits it provides - if yo are not part of a pipeline that has people doing it for you. But hey, we're working in an industry that is notoriously underfunded. Why not add more work? USD literally only benefits large complex pipelines. For the single freelance artist it has nothing to offer.
@@kamazooliy LOL... Ya, I think it behooves anyone in this field to become as aware as possible of the various technologies and tools. USD is still being developed, and evolving, but is used in productions already, and has a fairly wide acceptance. I don't think it's only for big studios either, but they certainly stand to benefit from the flexibility it adds in terms of collaboration between departments.
@@marshallross3373 Behooves? No. Our line of work is highly susceptible to peer pressure and FOMO. People will have to learn USD eventually, doesnt matter what I think. Whether today or in 10 years. Especially as new younger artists learn it from the start. Its us oldies that are stubborn. So be it, because of our time investment.
You're a Houdini user I assume? You think USD and Solaris is complicated?? If you're a Houdini user, you should be used to complexity and confusion. If you are wanting a simpler workflow to do whatever it is you want, there are applications catered to you. So why complain about something that's not for you?!
I really love that workflow! Thank you!
Thank you, very helpful!
Cool, awesome, terrific, spectacular!
Why when I import my camera is loking in a different place than in sop
Thank you for the tuto! scene import has error talking about translator

I'm really happy short sighted peers like you exist to remind us what mediocrity looks like.
