2018 was my intro to Halloween. I worked at a theater and just sat in there seeing so many fans come out so I just wanted to see what the rage was about. Been a huge fan ever since. I fell in love with Michael because of this movie so it has a special place in my heart.
That October year of 2018 was crazy!!!! We had the coldest October weather and I was like in 3 Halloween concerts lol that year and the return of Myers was beautiful!! Your comment is spot on 🔪🎃🔪🎃🔪

@@STyme003 i personally don't like it because I usually don't like campy sci-fi/fantasy too much. Idk the vibe is so different. But here's the thing Ends had a different vibe too and I don't hate it. So it's a give or take. Also like Resurrection if I think of it as a fun fanfiction. That's how I saw it initially because it was so far out there and that's why I like watching it. It's just a fun idea to me.

Seeing you guys in the same room have brought tears to my eyes. I promise you guys, once I make it big in the industry, you guys are somehow going to be apart of it.
We were definitely lucky to have this film in 2018. Academy Award winning Chris Nelson made an amazing mask. John Carpenters "The Shape Returns" is better than the original score to me. "The Shape hunts allyson" is the definition of your path being met by the inevitable unstoppable force in Michael myers. The one shot scene where he turns towards the driveway showed me how much JJC wanted to show how much Michael is a vessel being controlled by evil and one of my favorite scenes ever. This film is top 3 of the franchise behind 78 and 81. You guys really made the anticipation for this film 10x better. I'll never forget the feeling of the lead up to the release date.
Love 2018. I didn't even know about it until it was for sale on DVD in England as I wasn't watching YT and I don't watch TV. It was a great surprise in 3019 as I've been watching Myers for 40÷ yrs 😊
2018 got me into Halloween. Before it, I wasn’t a big fan, but something about that movie grasped me. The mood and atmosphere was amazing, same with Michael
I totally agree with you about Sartain & Laurie Strode. To me it made absolutely no sense that she would reasonably be that sure & scared that Michael was gonna come back to get her. If it’s picking up directly from the original & they’re not brother & sister then why??
But aside from that, it really is a solid movie & definitely one of the best in the series because they got Michael perfect & that’s most important imo.

2017 when the Halloween 2018 news was first breaking about the movie, yall were the first channel that I watched videos on it. I kept up with it every day with y'alls updates and Halloween horror month in 2018. I was so hyped, It was one of the best lead up to a movie and Halloween the holiday its self! Crazy to think it's been 5 years but definitely one of the best movie theater experiences in my life finally getting to see Michael on the big screen for the first time!
2018 still holds up the best out of all the DGG trilogy. Love the direction, one takes, cinematography, and Laurie’s character wasn’t too over the top yet

2018 will definitely continue aging the best out of the new trilogy. It’s lighter on the gore, but there’s fewer annoying characters, misplaced humor, and cringy dialog. And the score is so fucking good 👍🏻
I thought it was totally fckd that they killed Karen but kept Laurie alive. Halloween will forever be my favorite franchise and Laurie is a final girl forever but it was time to let her go.. overall I agree I think 2018 was a solid 9. Solid story, kills, & they kept Michael true to his form. Beautifully done. & another great review like usual. Happy to see you two dudes together 🎉❤.

I love 2018 but my enjoyment of it is slightly less now because I wasn’t too thrilled with the way the rest of the trilogy played out. If I take it as a stand alone it works best.

Personally Halloween 2018 is my second favorite Halloween movie ever made with 78 as well my favorite. I'd put the original 2nd Halloween as my 3rd and kills as my 4th favorite. Idk what I'd put as my 5th maybe Halloween 4. Hated Halloween Ends the way they did Michael was stupid Michael is the G.O.A.T of horror and slashers they did him dirty and made him look so weak.

dr. sartain is even crazier in the novel, i couldn’t help but laugh cuz there was dialogue they kept out of the movie and i think possibly for good reason cuz it got so weird for a bit there ! though the books are really cool

The sartain plot makes more since with what happens in Ends
Remember, Michael has an effect on those who spend time around him. They were too subtle with Sartain that that is what was happening. I think they went for that as well with the residents in Kills. Same thing with the hobo in Ends. Read his back story. But especially with Corey. There’s something about Michael’s eyes seeping the evil within. That’s why he looked at himself in the reflection. That’s what warped Corey. And what I believe was happening with Laurie in Ends when he is strangling her. It just gets stopped by Allyson. Laurie makes comments in 2018 about looking into his eyes. And again Corey does about her wanting to look back into his eyes again. Look back at the trilogy through the lens of Michael’s evil unlocks the evil in others. It makes certain things fit in a tad smoother.

I love Halloween 2018 so much! I think Laurie was great in it. I understand what you guys are saying about her involvement in the 2 sequels. But I think it was important at the time to have her back and no Michael wasn’t after her in that movie. But of course when she disappears, Michael is going to look around for her lol

I’m going to comment first before watching just to see how my opinion compares to y’all…but the further removed we get from this movie, the more I love it. It’s by far my favorite of the Blum house trilogy and it’s definitely one of my favorite films in the entire franchise. I’ll probably end up watching it 3 or 4 more times by Halloween. It’s up there with Halloween 4 and Halloween 6 for my personal favorites behind 1978.
I love that kill with the dumbass kid on the fence. Indeed 2018 Halloween was the best of the DGG trilogy. They didn’t need Ends at all. I think they had plans for a 2 part film & decided to stretch it out for 3 & it back fired hard.

I think Halloween 2018 is probably my favorite one right now. Obviously the og holds its place but it was such a great fantastic movie and really really good. It’s also like the og the first one is really good then 2 is not that good and I don’t like it then 3 has nothing to do with nothing and Michael is fan service and a good movie by itself but it’s not what we came for. They are all literally the same. Which is funny cause the scream movies did the same thing. Lover and friend killer then crazy family and friend killer in the sequel. They are the same formulas. Scream 6 ending ruined a fantastic top level movie for me. Until the ending that movie was top tier for sure.

I missed it the first time I watched. But, if you go to the scene where Allison’s dad walks out on the porch of Laurie’s house. When the police car rolls up. You can see Michael off to the side standing waiting for someone to come outside. Completely missed it the first time I watched.

I love that tracking shot of Michael when we see him get bumped by the two kids all the way to when he kills the two woman and walks out . it is the best shot in the entire Trilogy , unfortunately 2018 does not have great rewatch value , it seems to slip down my list every year. For me Kills is the best in the trilogy .
Happy to say I'm one of the ones who really saw how great this movie was when it first came out.
Never understood the hate. 9/10 and best of the Blum house films.

You’re totally right about the characters. That made it very compelling. It was a great Halloween movie. And yes the fan service callbacks at the end was too on the nose but yeah I still love this movie.

Expectations made people not appreciate this one but it gets better on rewatch! Especially watching after the original. Honestly wish they would have ended it here, even tho I love the first act of Kills and the Flashback scenes. Would have been a solid ass ending after 2018 but money calls lol

I've always said that H18 was a pretty well constructed re-introduction to Michael, a new version of the story we all knew in regards to the brother/sister continuing timeline from 1981's H2.
I love the idea about Dr. Loomis and Dr. Sartain having a conversation. Now every time I watch the movie I’m going to be thinking and how cool that would have been. That’s a great idea Jay.
eugenenick: There's an excellent Halloween fan film where this actually happens and it's really, Really good.
It's a series of short films that are all connected and the meeting between Loomis and Sartain at the asylum is one of them.
I'll absolutely find the info and post it. It's very much worth the watch

I found it on a tiny channel that specializes in fan films, especially Halloween. They have some interesting stuff on there, though they haven't posted in a while. I'm hoping they come back this year. haha

Their are plenty of things I don’t like about Halloween 2018 but its definitely my favorite of the trilogy. Kills and ends are terrible IMO, the dialogue in both are god awful, they made Allyson completely USELESS, and Cory Cunningham was so annoying, he came out of nowhere and hijacked the whole trilogy for no reason, he got bullied by band geeks and then proceeded to best Michael Myers in a weird little wrestling match!👎

I watched in the theater & it was a great kick off for the rest of Halloween month. I really enjoyed it. If he had kept the vibe, it would have been a great trilogy

In the past I sassed you for your opinion on Halloween ends. I said you have to stop watching trailers and you clapped back that it's part of your job.
But then here you admit my point. Around the 7-minute Mark you talk about how much more enjoyable the movie is when you don't have expectations and wishes and you can go in clean.
This was literally my point last time. Trailers ruin expectations and destroy one of our favorite hobbies of watching movies. And your job is not solely to review movie trailers. Is the 3000 views really worth ruining your experience? There's so many other aspects of film to discuss without simultaneously ruining your own time.
I never once saw a single trailer for any of the Halloween movies and I quite loved them all because all I expected was to be enveloped in Haddonfield and my expectations pretty much stopped there because I didn't let a commercial tell me what to expect.
All I'm saying is is that if you cherry picked a couple films in the future to go in completely blind I bet you would enjoy them way more and maybe even change your routine in the future. Because if movie trailer reviews and that big a part of your channel's content then you don't have that much content to begin with.
Imagine if I would have allowed myself to watch any of your exorcist content before going to see the film. Having a TH-camr you respect tell you 50 times at a movie is trash before you get to see it is just going to get you into the theater with the expectation that the movie is trash. I'm not saying believer is a good movie I haven't seen it yet and my hopes are low. But at least this way I get to form my own opinion and expectations.
It pissed me off in 2018 when the Podcaster is like "I believe in Michael Meyers a mass murderer" as in not the boogeyman...but in the beginning was the one screaming "you can feel it! Can't you michael" ...well if he can feel it buddy than there is something supernatural there isn't there ya damn ginger!!! Lol no offense to gingers...I was kidding
Jamie Lee Curtis does a great job in this trilogy, but I will say that her inclusion in Ends dug that film into a hole because they had to finish her story. I’m probably on an island because I though that Corey was an interesting character, but it was him or Michael. They decided too late what was more important and it screwed the film.

James Jude Cortney was perfect as Michael Myers as a whole I really enjoy Halloween 2018 I give it a a 9/10.
I thought 2018 was really lame for how it ended with a cheesy one liner before she shoots him in the basement. Halloween is not an action movie and I just really thought it sucked. I didn't watch any of the other ones past that. The original movie is just so perfect that it's pretty much impossible to ever recapture. Just my two cents. I know I'm probably in the minority.
2018 is very good, made great by the two poor follow ups. But…the new trilogy and new age Halloween hype has made me an even bigger fan of the classics….the original, Halloween 2, Halloween 4….even Curse. There’s a charm to those classic movies that these 3 lacked, but 2018 was truly the only worthwhile new movie, and if they stopped there, we wouldn’t be scratching our heads with what’s next because they would just make another entry in a few years. But Kills and Ends rushed through Halloween fanfare while also being unnecessary and adding almost nothing.
Also - similar to Chris in the new exorcist, it’s crazy to think Laurie Strode doesn’t honor Loomis, the man who saved her life, in ANY way outside of a snide remark towards Sartain about him being the new Loomis. This new trilogy does a piss poor job of respecting Loomis, from Laurie having zero reverence for him to the caricature they used in Kills with the ridiculous voice and having his hand slapped away by Hawkins as his final act in the timeline.
I knew Myers was always going to kill Sartain. I just thought it would be in the second or even third movie... after Sartain's slow decent into madness. After he becomes a participant in the evil Myers brings back to Haddonfield.
Then he puts on the mask, And Then, Myers kills him because he Finally did something Myers refused to allow and couldn't let pass.
And it would matter because, like Jack Torrance from The Shining, he slowly becomes crazier throughout the ordeal Mainly because Sartain truly believes he has a special bond with Myers, beyond the deal he thinks he's made with him.
When in fact, there's nothing of the sort. There Never was. Myers never spoke to nor indicated in Any way he made a deal with Sartain. It was all Sartain's desperation and insanity coming up for air.
And only at Halloween's End does Sartain understand what Loomis meant. It was a complete delusion, and Evil Incarnate just didn't care enough about him either way...until he took The power source, his totem, his identity -- The Mask -- and put it on.
Sartain's story Was a wasted opportunity. It was supposed to be the connection between Loomis and The Cult of Thorn in having a mad doctor think he can control The Shape and direct his path, only to get the operating room treatment at the end of it.
Instead, Sartain got the Boba Fett ROTJ treatment and died a sorts cool, but confusing, unnecessary, kinda punk azz death.
Wasted opportunity
I feel you guys trying to be respectful about JLC!! Thts respectable!!! Im not!! I feel like she tied this triology down! She forced DGG creatively into making decisions tht were not the best!! Everyone seems to treat her like she is the reason for Halloween!! I 1000% disagree and couldn’t careless about Laurie!! Micheal is Halloween! Loomis is Halloween!! JLC was gd but had little to nothing to do with the success and why I love Halloween!!! Scout Taylor Compton was a better Laurie anyway!!! Shoot me!!!!!
Second best Halloween for me. This was epic. Not as good as h78 but not far off. MM was brilliant, they should of just shot both movies back to back (kills) and had this as a 3 1/2hour movie would of been amazing. As for sartain I loved that twist, never had an issue with it. Films a 9.0 for me never changed
Laurie should have died in the basement trying to stop keep Michael down there. It should have been a sacrifice for Allison and Karen. She wasn’t much of a factor in Kills anyway and in Ends we never got the finale we were promised so it should have just ended for her in 2018. I’ll never shit on JLC though, she saved the franchise when she decided to get on board with H20. Halloween was ready to go straight to video before that decision was made.
I don't have the tech to make a fan edit, but in my mind there is an edit that makes it even stronger & the definitive sequel to the original. 1) Open with Halloween Kills flashback; proceed to H18 title credits; proceed to sanitarium scenes; cut down the father-son truck scene; remove remaining all Sartain scenes; edit and add in a few seconds of new silhouetted footage in the "Shape stalks Allyson" sequence so it's clear that she runs through the woods to her grandmother's house and Michael follows her directly there (removes need for the Sartain twist); cut down two cops in crusier scene; movie continues and ends as usual. This would be a really strong edit, I think.
