Geeman Ona Friend, there's no such thing as "the real world". Of course there are objective truths and facts, I'm not disputing that. However, every depiction of reality is tainted by the point of view of the person depicting it. I think that there are a few things that one can do to keep focused on what is important. 1) Do not blindly trust media, but make sure not to let your mistrust of the media make you believe in stupid conspiracy theories à la Alex Jones. 2) Look at news organization's record on being accurate, and more importantly, look at their record in terms of issuing apologies and corrections whenever they make a mistake...every organization will make mistakes at one point or another, what gives credibility to one is its ability to correct the record. 3) Don't lose sight of the human experience and understand that we are all the product of a mix between nature and nurture. Most people's opinions would probably be very different if they had grown up in another country or another social class. It's important to remember that people we disagree with are also human and to treat others the way we think we should be treated (I'm not trying to go religious here, it's just a basic concept that is supposed to exist in religious organizations and that does exist in all parts of society. Empathy is crucial. That's my point of view anyway, you may not agree with it and I'm always open to discussion, but basically I think that's a good start when it comes to having even a vague idea of what kind of world we are living in.

What I can't understand, is why there doesn't seem to be any country in the world that would focus the learning curriculum on learning the rules of formal logic and assesment of information, when the basics were already were reasearched in ancient Greece, and there is a book found in Tibet, dated to early medieval times, which is believed to be a handbook for teaching boys around the age of 11, that very accurately and precisely, using many examples, shows what conclusions can be drawn from what information and what cannot. I was shocked when I read fragments of it in Hajime Nakamura's book, because this medieval book for teaching children contained accurate information on formal logic which nobody in the West learns unless they go for mathematics course at university (or philosophy at SOME unversities).

IMO I think China & Russia have been playing the long game for many years now. Trying to take land with the land and belt initiative in Africa and parts of Asia. China is trying to take over the South China sea fighting with Vietnam and Philippines. If it wasn't for the internet and the capability of critical thinkers to do their own research, we wouldn't have this many people waking up either. I wish I knew how many of us see the game (and of course there are varying degrees of it) but it could be as high as 30 percent. There’s always someone who wants to win arguments (a fine tradition that has continued even in the public forum of TH-cam comments today), there’s always people who think they’re right but eventually get tired of being destroyed and butt-hurt, and there’s always a large portion of the population who are quietly listening to all sides and perspectives and solidifying their understand of the truth.
The best defenses we have against these Soviet tactics is: 1. continued freedom of any and all speech, 2. vilifying those who dismiss arguments based on the forum (e.g. TH-cam comments, oft hated upon), or demographic of the speaker (e.g. white or male or straight perspectives in 2020; previously other demographics), or any other factor not directly related to the argument itself- ad hominem dismissals/attacks.
That's the scary part. I have been studying history, politics and sociology my whole adult life and even I fall for the tricks of tribalism and division the elite push unto me.

However, every depiction of reality is tainted by the point of view of the person depicting it. I think that there are a few things that one can do to keep focused on what is important. 1) Do not blindly trust media, but make sure not to let your mistrust of the media make you believe in stupid conspiracy theories à la Alex Jones. 2) Look at news organization's record on being accurate, and more importantly, look at their record in terms of issuing apologies and corrections whenever they make a mistake...every organization will make mistakes at one point or another, what gives credibility to one is its ability to correct the record. 3) Don't lose sight of the human experience and understand that we are all the product of a mix between nature and nurture. Most people's opinions would probably be very different if they had grown up in another country or another social class. It's important to remember that people we disagree with are also human and to treat others the way we think we should be treated (I'm not trying to go religious here, it's just a basic concept that is supposed to exist in religious organizations and that does exist in all parts of society. Empathy is crucial. That's my point of view anyway, you may not agree with it and I'm always open to discussion, but basically I think that's a good start when it comes to having even a vague idea of what kind of world we are living in.

What I can't understand, is why there doesn't seem to be any country in the world that would focus the learning curriculum on learning the rules of formal logic and assesment of information, when the basics were already were reasearched in ancient Greece, and there is a book found in Tibet, dated to early medieval times, which is believed to be a handbook for teaching boys around the age of 11, that very accurately and precisely, using many examples, shows what conclusions can be drawn from what information and what cannot.
I was shocked when I read fragments of it in Hajime Nakamura's book, because this medieval book for teaching children contained accurate information on formal logic which nobody in the West learns unless they go for mathematics course at university (or philosophy at SOME unversities).

This comment will probably be ignored but I want to say.
When i was younger and CCCP was collapsing I remember a group of relatively young political officers heard us talking about the end and maybe migrating to USA and they start to laugh. Now keep in mind people started to see it was end of Soviet Union and writing was on the wall already so we did not have much trouble for discussing this.
BUT I WILL NEVER FORGET when the officers hear us and just laughed. One told us: When you go to the USA remember to bring and save your party card (a passport like document stating that you were member of communist party) because one day you will need it. Of course we thought they were just jealous fools, this was America after all why the fuck would we need this. We also were hearing just rumors of a secret plan being in motion but of course we said this was just propaganda and conspiracy theories. I was never a conspiracy fool but after what I have seen this all makes you think, maybe they were hinting us something. Maybe.

All my family is conservative/Republican but I'm in NYC and there in no talking to this very Leftist city, it's pretty much lost. I have had people tell me to my face that they understand communism better than me because they've "studied" it! My lived experience is null but what they've read in some commie book is what counts! That just shows how utterly brainwashed these lunatics are and it shows how psychologically manipulative and sinister that ideology can be.
Emmanuel King I totally agree. My parents and grandparents lived under communism in the soviet union and it wasn‘t pretty at all! Now I see the same ideas being brought back to life and I‘m scared as hell. My plans right now are to move to Vietnam with my gf, since I see no future here in Germany. I know that Vietnam is still a communist country, but contrary to many beliefs it‘s moving away from communism, while it gets normalized in the west right now. I really hope for a brighter future, but as of right now it seems pretty doomed.
