Caden Walker I am the same way I just got a 91 Honda Fourtrax 300 4x4 and sure it would be nice to have something new so that I don’t have to work on as many things but spending that time with may dad working on those things is a fun thing for me even though I am 15
So I came across this video looking for a budget 4 wheeler for me and my son and wow, this guy genuinely seems like a good man. His outlook on life and newer things in general is on point. And once he posted the scripture I subscribed instantly.. Rare to find a God fearing man speaking truth on TH-cam especially about topics generally unrelated (quads) Great job man and God Bless
Thanks for subscribing, every video isn't quite like this one but hopefully you will find a few others that you like. There is a little bit of camping, fishing and a good bit of hunting.
I have the exact Honda Fourtrax 300 same year even. My kids have grown up learning and riding that 4 wheeler. It's been banged up, wrecked, doesn't look so good in appearance. But it is a solid 4 wheeler that has kept running for us, parts are not too expensive and we still use today. Great comments.
I have a 2002 Honda Foreman 450. Bullet proof and reliable and picked up cheap off an elderly gentleman last year. He kept great care of it! We use it on our 30 acres for hunting, food plots yard chores and etc. Totally agree with you brother. Love the channel!
Thanks. I had a 2000 Forman years ago. I liked the size of the machine but that particular unit had been abused by the previous owner. I eventually got tired of the problems.
Man i just want to pay off my student debts, make enough money to live off of without selling my sole to some employer, and have something to putt around on in the trails that isn't smashed up.
Very true my wife tells me all the time to be thankful for what we have because it might not be much but there’s other that would love to have what we do. Being humble is a good thing 🙏🏼
It took me years to understand this. And when God open my eyes to see what I could not see before. Well I changed my ways and my ways of thinking. I see so many people that think the way I did and I just hope someday God makes them see how blessed they are.

I wanted to let you know, this is my second time watching this video. I first watched while shopping around for my first atv. I waited it out, and found a very nice '97 yamaha big bear, and i couldnt be happier with it. You are a very wise man, and im glad i listened to your words. Now i also have a great atv, and it didnt cost me an arm and a leg either. I am more than content with it, and its been serving my family beautifully for months.
You really hit the nail on the head man. Ive spent the last year realizing the same thing. Didnt expect such wise words. Its a beautiful day. Im gonna take my daughter out for a drive. Cheers
Hi Nathan, I had to watch this video again because I’m now selling boats & STVs at Bass Pro Shops Tracker Boats division. You got a great deal and new 2 wheelers run $4500 + and 4 wheelers going near $9,000!! And you have a perfect understanding about what’s really important in life my friend! At the end of the day it’s a close knit happy family that really matters! Great video from the heart!
Man I was in the market to get a newer ATV but I already have a reliable TRX 300 FW. You helped me realize I don't need a new ATV what I have works perfectly for what I do.
As a small engine mechanic of 35 years you got a good machine there and the only weakness is the rear end known for bearings and hubs or axels stripping out but fairly easy fixes. I agree with your philosophy on buying used I have owned many machines over the years and always bought machines needing repair cheaply and restored them to like new gives me satisfaction and no bank payments on toys.
I’m not much of a mechanic, so it can be scary when something needs repair. With the right friends and a little TH-cam I’ve gotten through a few repairs.
Family had two of them and been really good ever since, Even got flooded, Never had an oil change ha and still going. one of them runs a little hot but for some reason is faster then the other one. Overall it was just something to have at the barn for every one to use.
I have a 1997 Fourtrax 300. I have been upgrading it as opposed to buying newer. New Carb, new tires, new battery and currently my tank is in the shop being cleaned from rust inside. When it's running good I am very happy with it. It's 2 wheel drive. I wish it was 4 wd but I carry tow straps just in case. I feel very blessed to have it. Enjoyed your video and your way of thinking. I subbed. God Bless
Great video. Being content with what you have is such a blessing to have. Honestly the older four wheelers like almost everything are actually built to last unlike a lot of the newer stuff that is built to be disposable.
I knew someone who had one of these. He died of a heart attack. He survived 3 strokes and 5 heart attacks before number 6 killed him. This four wheeler brings back memories, and we still have it today. I'll never forget when the electric start broke, and we tried to spin the back wheel while the thing was in gear for 15 muinets just to get it going... Thanks
They are great 4 wheelers. I had a 98 recon, never had any problems and I road the crap out of that thing , night and day lol. It wasn't unusual at 15 for me to be out riding at 4am , I never stopped.

Most older Utility four wheelers are awesome Machines like I have a big bear 400 got it with only 400 600 miles on it going strong with 1200 miles on it got it from a dead buddy I love it
You just made a fantastic choice. I have a similar model except it’s an earlier model 85 to be exact so it’s actually a 250 because Honda didn’t really have a 300 fourtrax at the time but it is a tank. Dang man that's so true. I'm in same position now. Hope you and your lil girl keep making great memories on that bike. Great bike too we got a 2002 rancher with same stock tires
I would have to say that I identify with your way of thinking, I have a 1998 Yamaha Wolverine 4x4 . which has I have owned for 18 years and many’s a time I thought of something more upmarket but then I thought why spend a fortune to keep up with the Jones, so I just fix it when need be and it serves me well. The same goes for my shotgun, it is a Baikal O/U and bought new 35 years ago. The action is as crisp as the day I bought it despite it having shot 60/70,000 shells and like the quadbike I’ve thought of something nicer but then realised that it has done its job and would kill quarry as well as a new one, the same goes for my personal vehicle which is 16 years old, my motto is of it ain’t broke why fix it 👍
I have just bought my first ATV. 2001 Yamaha BearTracker 250. I Purchased it for 2,000 dollars. I love it, i have put 125.00 in new frnt tires and that was all. It is a 2wd as well. had serviced before took on trail first time mechanic said was solid machine. i am having a blast with it.
I currently have a 1992 Kawasaki Bayou 220 foot shift. Its not the fastest, the nicest, or best looking four-wheeler, nor does it have all the bells and whistles. But it certainly gets the job done
This video really made me realize that I don’t need to break my back to buy a $10,000 ATV. That the good ole four wheelers for around a $1,000 do the same exact things. Thanks man!
Glad it worked out for you, I never got one yet and nearing 70 I probably won't. Never hunted private land much so public land it would just set most of the time. Good video 👍
What is it about me that wants me to have newer, nicer things? That's called being a human. But after buying that newer, nicer thing, we are usually immediately disappointed. It's taken me most of my life to realize this! Glad you already have.
For me it’s a constant battle. I still want newer and nicer things but I try to also focus on the many blessings I have. I have been abundantly blessed.
The Honda 300 is my all time favorite 4 wheeler!! It's not so heavy you can't push it off of you if you ever in situation where it turns over on you. And they'll go anywhere!
Great video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insight! “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
Got a ‘93 TRX -FW that runs like a sewing machine. Just put on a plastic gas tank, front CV joints/bearings, brake drum, shoes and seals. Spent about $600. Other than routine air filters, oil and tires, that’s all I’ve spent on it over the last 25+ years. I can’t kill it....so I just keep riding it.
Thank you for giving such good advice. I know exactly what you are saying about always wanting more. It never makes you full filled, stuff never does. Only Gods love!
I just got a 1991 Honda Fourtrax 300 4x4 for $750 and it runs great. Just needs a little work done. The starter doesn’t work but it will kick start on the first few kicks most of the time
Yes and it was all thanks to my brother because he bought a dirt bike and we went to go pick it up and I saw it sitting in the corner of his shop and asked him a few questions and next thing you know a few days later there I am at the same place buying it from the guy
I have a moto 4 350 I don’t know what year it is but pretty old and it is a work horse would not trade it for anything my dad let me use it for a few years then just gave it to me here recently I think he paid 500 for 5 or 6 years ago I really still like it and it has saved me a lot of time just a great 4 wheeler.
I understand what you're saying about not being materialistic but sometimes it's nice to have something that's new that isn't going to constantly break on you. My time is fairly limited and I would rather spend my time riding than wrenching. However if I can get something slightly used and reliable I would consider it
If you can afford it, then by all means get that. My point is I can’t afford something nicer so I should be content with what I have. I really have had to do very minimal maintenance on my 1996 Honda.
@@TheBudgetSportsman that's fair. I'll look into the Honda. I'd be willing to spend 6k on an atv but I drive 1k-3k beaters haha. I guess my priorities are a little off.
I’ve been there! I’m ashamed to think of the money that I spent when I didn’t have a family. I can tell you that I wish I would have saved and invested more and spent less. It’s a lot easier to say than to do.
My cousin had one of these when we were kids probably the first year his dad had the have the 350 we never let off the gas when we’re shifting gears wide open all the time
Yes you are correct. The Honda TRX300 is a bullet proof machine. They are a real workhorse. It was and still is the best ATV on the market for reliability. It was made from 1988-2000. It's just too bad Honda quit making them.
I have the exact atv and you can't break them. Mine was in a barn that got hit by a tornado, picked it up from one side of the barn and dropped it on its handle bars on the other side. Flipped it over hit the starter and it started right up.
I had the same full Willer as that 2wd I had it for four years it was a good running for Willer best water ever had and I was stupid enough to sell it two years ago
Looks exactly like my first wheeler but it was a 99 and it was 4x4. Just dont put the oil filter in backwards or it will toast the top end and you will be spending 1200 or more fixing it!
galactic fart you can find quite a few older ATVs in that price. Your probably looking at something around 250-300cc motor. That’s basically how big the motor is. You could look for older Polaris, Yamahas, Kawasaki, or Honda.
I work on four wheelers with my buddy in his little side hustle I've ridden the Polaris sportsman 1000 independent rear suspension I've ridden the king quad 400 Polaris sportsman 500 all with the newer fancier technology speedometer CVT automatic transmission and I still go back to my Yamaha Bear tracker from 2002 solid rear axle foot shift just like your Honda semi-automatic and I love it better than the customer's machines. Does my bear tracker go 65 miles an hour nope does it go fast enough to provide the same joy and excitement as the newer machine it sure does. A speedometer would be nice but I can add one for $200 instead of $10,000 for a new machine. Do I need independent rear suspension no my solid rear axle works just fine being two wheel drive for how I use the machine mostly flat land solid rear axles perfectly fine 250cc motor works perfectly fine. 35 40 miles an hour and 5th gear perfectly adequate for how I use the machine. The new machines don't do anything better enough then what I already have so it's hard to justify buying a new one. I have a four wheeler that runs most people don't even have one let alone one that works. It's a bulletproof motor I've been running it for the last 2 weeks without oil. Has a really bad oil leak i just discovered. $35 in new gaskets and she'll be as good as new. I love that machine
Good video about being happy with what you have. Was wondering while you were talking, what brand of hunting jacket is that, and if you have any info on it that I could look up. I need a warm hooded jacket for hunting season coming up.
Thank you! The jacket was a hand me down. It was branded by real tree but beyond that I couldn’t tell you specific make or model. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
300s are the best bike ever made. Its the only ATV you can refer to "300" and they dont ask "300 what?" My daily rider is a 92. I have an 07 500 that sits in the barn.
I an happy to see someone who doesn't care to have the nicest most expensive stuff.

I’ve been there! I’m ashamed to think of the money that I spent when I didn’t have a family. I can tell you that I wish I would have saved and invested more and spent less. It’s a lot easier to say than to do.
My cousin had one of these when we were kids probably the first year his dad had the have the 350 we never let off the gas when we’re shifting gears wide open all the time
Great advice!
Yes you are correct. The Honda TRX300 is a bullet proof machine. They are a real workhorse. It was and still is the best ATV on the market for reliability. It was made from 1988-2000. It's just too bad Honda quit making them.
Absolutely. I will say my dad has an ‘01 rancher that has been extremely reliable as well.
Awesome video man!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
amen brother
You just made me subscribe!
I just learned something today
Awesome! Thank you!
I have the exact atv and you can't break them. Mine was in a barn that got hit by a tornado, picked it up from one side of the barn and dropped it on its handle bars on the other side. Flipped it over hit the starter and it started right up.
That’s crazy, these are some tough machines.
Came for the quad but subscribed for the life advice
Thank you!
I had the same full Willer as that 2wd I had it for four years it was a good running for Willer best water ever had and I was stupid enough to sell it two years ago
Time to buy another one!
What a great video, thank you 😊 for the great words
You’re welcome and thanks for the kind comment!
Thank you for such a positive message God Bless you
Your welcome and thank you for watching.
Hey! Really cool video! I actually, in fact, have that same exact quad! I'm doing a really cool project on it rn
That’s great! What project are you doing?
@@TheBudgetSportsman 😂matter of fact...engine re-build, new tires, and some other tricky stuff! I cant wait to have it done! :)
Looks exactly like my first wheeler but it was a 99 and it was 4x4. Just dont put the oil filter in backwards or it will toast the top end and you will be spending 1200 or more fixing it!
Yeah I’ve heard about that. I’ll keep an eye out for that.
I had a Honda Rancher 350, best I've ever owned
I love the Ranchers
Nice video I’m looking for a cheap used one because my family can’t afford the nicest things and I loved this vid I had to drop a like
Thanks for the like. I hope you find just what you need.
Thanks I’ll try lol
Im 11 years old do you have a good recommendation for a atv 900 and under
galactic fart you can find quite a few older ATVs in that price. Your probably looking at something around 250-300cc motor. That’s basically how big the motor is. You could look for older Polaris, Yamahas, Kawasaki, or Honda.
@@TheBudgetSportsman even a linhai
i am so happy to see a video about being content from a god fearing man
all the time god is good and god is good all the time
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Wise words son
Well said. That about sums it up
Thanks Wyatt!
So true.
Really cool video!
Thanks! Glad you think so.
i wanna buy a used quad but i don’t know how to ride. so how am i gonna get the quad in the truck and test if it’s good
I work on four wheelers with my buddy in his little side hustle I've ridden the Polaris sportsman 1000 independent rear suspension I've ridden the king quad 400 Polaris sportsman 500 all with the newer fancier technology speedometer CVT automatic transmission and I still go back to my Yamaha Bear tracker from 2002 solid rear axle foot shift just like your Honda semi-automatic and I love it better than the customer's machines.
Thanks for sharing. That’s the spirit for sure.
I had just bought a 230 Suzuki for 50 bucks got it running and everything
Wow what an awesome deal. Congrats!
Good word man
Thank you!
Love it.
Thanks Denver

Sweet channel. Subscribed.

AMEN I LOVED THIS VIDEO
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching.
@@TheBudgetSportsman Thanks for the reply. I think Wal-Mart sells that brand if Im not mistaken. Wil look into it. Be safe out there.
Awesome video
Thanks!!
Great video man God bless 🙏🏻
Thank you!
Where did you buy it from?
Facebook Marketplace
I m interesred in ur honda 300.
Thanks for your interest. It’s not for sale.
Where did you get this, or are you selling it
No Not Selling!! I bought it from a guy on Facebook marketplace.
@@TheBudgetSportsman nice place thanks
300s are the best bike ever made. Its the only ATV you can refer to "300" and they dont ask "300 what?" My daily rider is a 92. I have an 07 500 that sits in the barn.
I have the same one and I came across this video...what were the chances? Greetings from Alaska!!
Greetings! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Well said my friend
Thank you! I need to remind myself of some thing once in a while!
I have the 200 version of this, the only four wheeler that I would want would be a raptor 700
Nice!
Amen
And best of luck with your foreman buddy
Thank you!
