20:03 Good video so far except... that symbol is pin 1.... you have it turned around... the "Symbol" on the chip is "Always Pin 1" if you remember that you should be good. If you take a look at the traces on the bottom of the board ( pin 1, 2 and 3 go to the chip pads on the bottom of the board pin 4 uses the top) you can see the hole with the square symbol on pin 1 leads to pin 1 on the pads to solder down the chip. Hope that helps a little ;)
Hi NSC, been following since 2010 and damn your channel has been one of the best, every time I've had questions you would release a video illustrating the resolution before even voicing my question lol, keep it up! and thanks, then and now!!!!
Hi , your tutorial video is one of the best tutorial i have seen ever ., wowow , It was very complete and easy to understand , informative and your explanation was perfect . keep it up . thnx
greetings, thank you for all your efforts, praise youtube for DIY tutorials, one question, regarding programming bios chips on laptop motherboards, should the CMOS battery be removed BEFORE programming, i.e. programming without CMOS battery in place, or does one need to remove the CMOS battery after successful programming, then wait a certain period and insert/connect again ? i read conflicting feedback on the topic, same for unplugging the AC or not; on an old lenovo G560, the CH341 didn't pick up anything from the BIOS chip (i don't have USB 3 quick charge outlets on the other PC btw) until i connected the AC power, thank you and keep up the good work
Just bricked an old P5KPL-AM EPU because of a power outage during bios update (very lucky), it was supposed to have CrashFree bios 3 but it won't work. I ordered this cheap programmer so i hope i can repair it. I also have to borrow a pc from a friend which probably will be running on windows 10/11, so i hope there won't be problems. Also respect for still using windows 7 (which i still use too) because it's the last serious OS from microsoft
Yes, Win7 is the best OS to work with stuff like that! To avoid errors, go always for Win7! Otherwise click on the tool with right mouse, properties, than compatibility mode and select Win7 also run as Adnin and save it for best results :)
@@NSC-Modz hey bro, i just received the programmer and out of curiosity i tried it on my android phone (galaxy s9) with an usb adapter and it works... I managed to reprogram the chip without using another pc. The app is called Combo Tool Plus, i suggest you make a video about it if you want to because i found very little to no info on youtube about this app, cheers
Not sure if I misunderstood something but at 19:37 you show the IC with pin 1 (dot on IC) soldered to the location marked "5" on the test board. It looks like the IC is mounted backwards or are the markings incorrect on the test board? Shouldn't the dot be where the "1" is on the test board?
It's like that, i turned the small PCB to an other side, that's why it worked. You can connect the PCB in deferent ways to the programmer. But if you have connect the PCB to the other side, than you will need to turn also the Chip. In this case it doesn't matter as long both things is connected right to the programmer. I was more focused on the video it self. People's like me just don't care about because we already did it thousand times 🙈 But maybe i do again a video about the right way to connect all. Because this small thing really confuses some people's like i see 😅
I agreed with you that the dot on the Bios is marked pin 1, the test board already shown the correct orientation. You should solder the SOP8 IC chip marked with the dot to where the '1' is on the test board, rotate the PCB so the IC chip is on the right hand side in contrast to the video showing that it is on the left hand side. Take a pain marker or liquid paper to make a marking for pin 1 on the holder so that in future you'll know where/how the test board should be correctly mounted. In experience people should always use a multimeter to check all pins-out with the CH341A layout/schematic diagram if they are in doubts, do not try to flash any Bios with a programmer without knowing the proper mounting.
I have this, works fine in Linux too. I've had some troubles with the drivers in Windows 10, maybe i will double check that jumper. I just was curious to know if you have tried to use this to flash OpenWRT on anything?
At the price I forgive it but it really needs USB isolation and and some resistors on the data/ power output pins. I use it on automotive applications so I normally use a soic8 clip/pogo pin setup. welI accidently let the magic smoke out of one the the other day. a resistor array on the board probably would have saved it.

I hope I’m wrong about this and I may be being that somehow a batch of programmers were released into the market with inverted markings under the board, but I doubt that. This is all wrong according to my boards. 19:32 you can see clear as day pin 4 track to the bottom right pin opposite of the dot marked pin (“pin 1”) which is now running to your chips pin 8 (“Vcc”). Also the boards pin hole 8 track is clearly visible and running to the chips attach point’s pin 8. Your chip is rotated 180 degrees in the wrong direction. Marked pin on the chip using a dot is pin 1, not 5. I didn’t finish watching the video but you’re supplying voltage to your chips GND pin if it’s similar to my Bios soic 8 chip. Pin 1 is CS (“Chip Select”), 4 - Ground, 5-SI/SiO, 8-Vcc. So in this backwards configuration your supply Vcc pin 8 is wired to your chip’s ground pin 4. And your Supply Ground is wired to your chip’s Vcc. Not sure if this will even short anything out since it’s ground -> Vcc, and Vcc->Ground. 23:33. This is wrong. The programmer usb port should be facing down when attaching this board upright like this. Correct half of the programmers grill though. The other half of the programmers girl closest to the locking lever is for i2C. So at 23:33 this adapter board programmer sandwich looks awful and is wrong at every layer. First: Hello... I really dont care if you trust me or not, first you need to ask me why and how it worked like that, just than you can say that you dont trust me. It´s NOT connected INCORRECTLY, would it be connected INCORRECTLY, than it would NOT WORK! So in first it looks INCORRECTLY, but the PCB was turned, that´s why it worked also, PCB was turned to the other side, thats why it worked, because the CHIP was soldered right! A lot people´s do this with Manuals and stuff, but if you understand how the PCB and the Chip is connected, than you can do it how you like. All roads lead to Rome, not only one...

But it´s ok that you saw that, that means you was watching very focoused this video, so it´s good. Only thing it´s not good, when you say you dont trust me, just because of that small thing, which can be connected in a lot different ways. If this would not work, than the program would not be able to read the Chip, understand? Just for you know, i mostly dont even use the PCB, i mostly soldering the chip my self with Cables or other stuff, this PCB is just a help, but not really needed for proffesionals. Like i told, it was just turned, so thats why the chip was soldered like that. You can also connect it on the other side of the Programmer, so there you can soldering the chip directly to the programmer without this extra PCB. But whatever we talking here and wasting time, i just want to say you can trust me, and you are free to do it like you want, no need to do it like i did :) and when ever you need help or have some questions, you will be always welcome here 🤗

Hi there. I have one of these usb chip programmers. Im trying to connect to a eeprom chim from a gauge cluster. Its a RH86 type, small 8 pin chip. What type is it, I'm having no luck connecting. Thanks.
will this flash a bios from an old 386 Motherboard?
hi, at first thank you for this video and i have a problem. my tablet has mxic mx25u6435f bios and i tried the change boot logo and it died. now i find a dump from a friend. i can auto detect my chip. Erase-> blank check-> write -> and i have a error on verify in different values. I have black one and 1.8v adapter. desolder chip. asprogrammer, neoprogrammer, and ch341 programmer and i always get error. what is my mistake?
Hello You always welcome! Its maybe not your mistake, maybe the Biosfile is blocked, so it will be hard for you and you need to do some more stuff by your self... Maybe a new Chip will help with your problem
Hello, I would like to use this bios programmer to reflash my bios that is supected to be infected. Do you know if this programmer itself has malware and does reflashing bios clean the malware implanted?
No, it has not. But you sure the Bios is infected??? It would be enough to reflash the chip, just erase the chip before flashing new one.
Is the programer ready out of the box for 93 eprom?
Hi there , on Asus or MSI website for bios they have .CAB file how to convert them to BIN or Hex File ??because ch341a program only support Bin or Hex file!!! ?? thankyou
Do you offer a bios flashing service?
So nice

Hello NSc, Please what are the possible faults that someone can experience with / in a computers when the EEPROM chip is bad or corrupt. kindly use you age-long programming expertise to analysis this please. @@NSC-Modz Thanks for responding to my question. What I mean is this, what are the faulty behaviors that could show that a computer Motherboard has Bad or corrupt EEPROM chip. Thank you
@@ucheernest6059 Computer will not work like it should, sometimes it will freeze on startup, or in Windows you gonna have strange issues like bluescreens or some aplications freeze. @@NSC-Modz offxourse i have a question from where can i get new bios to write it on the chip
Mostly on the website from the manufacturer. Go there and search your model than go to drivers and look for bios updates. Or just buy a bios chip on the Internet

can you make a video of the differences between all ch341 programmers cuz there are more and i can find info only for ch341a and i hate that cuz i wanna learn how to use them all

@@NSC-Modz its ok i will try to test them by my own
as much as i can and cheapest as i can so if something will happen again to my bios chip i can repair it very easy
Sure, but one programmer is enough for the most chips 😀

Hi, I have a lenovo miix 320 laptop. And it has a password in the bios. I would like to unlock it. My question is can I bypass it by just discharging the bios chip?
Hello Yes, but you will need to flash a new Bios back again.
I had a old hp envy 700-0049 brick itself with a bios update. Can it be flashed on the board via the pins? Or do i need to pull the chip? Can it be socketed?
Yes, even if it works, it's always recommended to take the chip out for less problems while the flashing procedure.

You connected the IC, at 20:21, INCORRECTLY . HOW !! Pin#1 to Pin 1 . Clearly marked , and also the tracks. Considering that my 3 AV apps FLAGGED your Software exe file as RISKY , you wrote it yourself in that video - I'm afraid I don't trust you.
@@NSC-Modz Yes. I realized that you rotated the PCB. Thing is , It is not according to the markings i.e They are correct ! and in accordance with usage logic. And if one inserts the PCB correct , than its a dead short ! Vcc to GND. Anyway, There is no marking that I saw , on the USB device itself , that show correct orientation to insert i.e Pin #1.
@@ilanbinkovitch6054 It doesent matter as long you know what you doing. If peoples dont know what they do, so they better DONT do it. But if you have something you dont really know, than PLEASE ASK first, before just saying that you dont trust me! Most peoples on my channel have subscribe because of TRUST! But whatever we talking here and wasting time, i just want to say you can trust me, and you are free to do it like you want, no need to do it like i did :) and when ever you need help or have some questions, you will be always welcome here 🤗
and by the way: some antivirus tools shows wrong stuff when there are exe. files in it, so this is nothing new. exe. files get mostly reported wrong on cheap antivirus tools.
