Thanks santee i have really fallen in love with this old colt. They are so much fun just learning the markings. All of the markings are stamps of inspectors. so you can look up the stamp and see their actual name. Plus its possible to track these guns to the units. This one we think might have been with the 22nd Pennsylvania volunteer Calvary. Even some units you can track what person was issued the serial number. Havent gotten that far but boy would that be cool

That will be by far the best way to go on restoring this barrel, but you must get every bit of braze out of the area, if there are any remaining areas of braze it will pop when you start to TIG it, it would also be a good idea to heat treat the barrel to normalise it before you bore it out as there will be a lot of stresses in the metal that could cause distortion, but it is an easy way to get the barrel back, good luck! Thank you.. i didn't think of heat treating the barrel before boring it out. That's a great idea. I definitely will be doing that

I think it turned out really good. I also have watched Blackie Thomas video on antiquing and I did it to three of my percussion revolvers.
    Thanks for sharing.

Yikes! Thats a challenge. I can't wait to see how this turns out. What Nice work on the antiquing process. What I've noticed from stuff I've done is the color differences in the metal. The modern will have that dull glossy grey look which I think is due to the type of steel used and the hardness. That turned out real nice though.

Thank you. I have noticed the same. I have this gun ready to shoot. I wish I knew of a place I could send the barrel to get the colt markings added back to the top of the barrel.

That is a pleasing result with the aging of the repro barrel assemby for use as "a shooter". - If you can remake the original and retain it authentically to stay with the frame even better. Suggest you might number that shooting replacement unit ' ***** A ' - Great job & well done.

Thank you i am still hoping to get the original going. But i have been thinking about doing that. Since you brought it up last time. I think its a great idea. Have it maked just like the original and add a #2 underneath or next to the SN# or a A before or after the SN#

Lol i have a problem anything thats very old. And even more if it's colt. there's no such thing as a scrapped part. If it's possible for a part to be saved it will be. No matter the time or effort
