visited your site but couldn't a price on anything. One of the first things a potential buyer wants to know is how much? If I don't see a price, I move on.
+Thom Vogan Thanks for the heads up Thom. The prices are shown on each boats main page under the "Choose An Option" tab. As there is a choice between downloading the study plans or the complete set of CNC Cutting Files. In the case of this boat the Study Plans are $12.99 and the CNC Files to build it are $275
@@MetalBoatKitscom i have a question about the 16 ft on the webshop it is show with 3 benches but the maker in the movie has a flatt floor in it where can i find this one
I've always tried to figure out how to build a boat for my kids. I tried several plans but always got stuck along the way. I'm glad I found this t.co/uM8hFDqZOp It has made the work become as easy and simple as I never thought it will be.
So I can't get the peices cut and shipped. A CNC machine is expensive to buy just to build one boat. Can I get the material shipped and I can weld it myself.
Are these boats coast guard certified? When I take it to the lake, will it pass coastguard test? Lot of money to spend, only to find out I can't register my boat or I do, but won't pass inspection.
Looks good ! But maybe I missed it , but I didn't see any floatation being installed ? A slightly important part of design and build . What gauge of plate did you use ? What was finished hull weight ?
Hi +Henry Zabel Yes, flotation foam is required in all the thwarts (seats) by law in most countries. It is installed by drilling a 1" hole near the top of the seat and filling with pour in place foam. Pour in a little at a time and allow it to expand fully before pouring a bit more. This avoids "ballooning" the seats. Finished weight is 375 Lbs on this one. More info on this kit on our website here: metalboatkits.com/?product=16-foot-skiff Cheers!
No no no, when employing flotation foam it should be glass encapsulated, closed cell, fire retardant, high density polyeurothane foam for boats. If you have to ask why you have no business designing & selling kit aluminium boats! No cross ribs, no longitudinal ribs, no drainage from bow to stern under the thwart seats, no reinforcing struts for transom. This things a joke, not a boat! I’ve built a 16 ft aluminium skiff from a kit designed by a naval architect before today & put it into commercial passenger carrying survey, as well as being a 100 tonne ships master. I wouldn’t sit in the boat in a puddle much less put to sea in it! This is what happens when amateur boat builders think they know all there is to know about building boats, and run loose with CADCAM software! All the gear & no feckin idea! Stay well away people if you value your lives & those of your loved ones & friends!
@@ianmoone2359 I think that if you look in the V of the inner hull, there is the drainage, but yeah. No ribs. no structure, and I didn't even see that they finished welding, only tacking!
Now do a wharram tiki 38 and 26 in welded aluminum and you will make money. Wood and fiberglass is a proven technology but the simplify and speed of building in metal, should make a stronger hull wit smaller bulkheads which means less weight and more usable space in the hulls...if only i had the money......
Nice work. I am learning to weld Ali with my new WIA 200i Mig with a view to repairing an old tinny I inherited. I have the liner and rollers for Ali, plus the argon bottle and am about to work on a test piece with 1mm 40thou wire. what settings should I start at? I have the St/St wire brush and understand I need to have a good size stick out to achieve the required spray weld. any tips would be most appreciated. Thanks Kevin.
Sounds like you can get the plans, or the plans + files to get it the kit cut out of the materials. They don't sell the materials from what I'm gathering but do sell the files for you to get it cut out at your local metal fab place for the price of $275.
Man, that is what you call an aluminum boat! That's no car top skiff. Almost TOO nicely finished for a fishing boat ;-). One thing about aluminum, especially in fresh water, is it is immensely maintenance free, especially unpainted. The only thing you have to be careful about, in my experience is don't hammer the hull in large waves more than it is designed to take. My little (I think it was a Sears) 12 footer eventually was oil canning in several places, after hundreds and hundreds of hours of use. It was a great little boat for many many years and would plane three adults nicely on a Merc 9.8. About 21-22 MPH full out with two normal sized, about 18-19 reasonable cruise, and would run for several hours on 3 gallons of fuel. I'm sure somebody with a MIG and a couple of pieces of thin angle could have got it back like new in no time. It was worst in the bottom right in front of the transom, and the little bit of sustained hook made it handle pretty poorly, especially in relatively flat water. After replacing a couple of wood transoms in glass boats I really KNOW what material SUCKS in a boat, don't care if it's marine, encased, whatever, it ALWAYS rots. Then you start replacing those rubber splined couplers more and more often, til you replace the transom, AGAIN.
Ahahah thanks John! Yes, that was my experience after a couple of decades of boatbuilding as well. It was through hands on experience as a builder that I became a designer that prefers welded aluminum above all other materials. Thanks again for the kind words. Cheers Rick
Horsepower rating is from boat dimensions and transom height. We have a job boat with a 60 but it's only rated for a 50 16 feet long 6 feet at the beam
+Stan Chetco Hi Stan, it is government regulation that requires positive flotation in all boats 20 feet or under. This is pretty much an international safety standard.
shawn4900, so if boat weighs 1/4 ton then material cost is $ 0.8375 minus what plans cost, so the materials cost is less than nothing. Where do I get this material.
Email the manufacturer for their prices and shipping costs. Make sure you allow for everything including hardware and welding supplies. Don't forget anything needed to make the boat water safe, including floatation. Shipping costs could be nasty depending on where you are. The mass producers ship small boats in bulk like coffee cups with little packaging expense.
what is the thickness of ALUMINIUM sheet ? good workmanship . thanks for your video. if we have two such boat with little dimensional difference i can make plastic boats in rotomoulding process. can you give me your contact address?. thanks
So you sell the plans for 229 and then you say that I can only build one and that I have to pay 50% if I build another. Dude anybody with a CAD program can do that without your help.
Hi How to become an agent for your company, and what are the conditions and how the processing, and your final prices continued to Iraq / Baghdad . We need email / phone company with sending some blocks to small and medium

I want this Kit how much!! Or do you have an up dated version??
Would you mind letting me know how much it roughly cost you in materials to build this boat? Thank you.

My brother do us a video how to cut and how to calculate the scales please
I looking at buying a kit so I can tig weld a project for a welding competition in a year I was wondering if the boat kit came precut or not
In the study book you have for sale Could you explain what info I would be paying for .cheers man
Dose the kit include the metal on the smaller boats like this one

I love this boat design.
Good morning. Do you have plans to build a boat from the movie for sale? Apart from that, congratulations on your profession. Something beautiful
I want a boat built like that i got a 20x6 flat bottom i love it to but i like how your work is done to

Could the hull be constructed of 5052 aluminum? And if so, what would be the cost- roughly?
5083 is marine or aqua ali
what is the projected material cost on this boat?
Lol all you get are thumbs up

アルミボート作るキットなんてあるんですね。
日本でも買えないかしら・・・アルミの板から切り出す方が安いかな??
僕もアルミボートカスタムしてます。一度見て見て下さい・・・・。。
why don't the aluminium boats of this size need bottom supports like the bigger boats?
The seats are the bottom supports, along with the strakes.
What thickness using plate ?
3mm or 2mm ?
Beautiful job, great looking boat, and I hope you love it.
Hi..i m from Kuala Lumpur..
Can you give me detail plan how to make this saiz n model this bot..?

Just how sturdy is an aluminum boat?
So the "kit" is a set of plans telling me how to build a boat if I have all the tools and materials needed to build a boat?
Do you provide the aluminum for your boat kits?

Required to keep it floating.. Just in case of trouble
Mike O'Keefe lmfao what? John boat bro John boat
How much for the boat in the video, with it set up to drop a wave runner motor in it
what are CNC files exactly? are they pre cut material?
They are the files that contain all the cuts needed to make the boat
What was the final price including trailer and outboard?? Thinking about building this.
Price kya hai

That is a cool boat
I want to ask about the size
It is TIG or MIG welding?
Either will work tig is neater but slower
waar zijn jullie gevestig

Beautiful job
Aren’t you meant to strengthen the transom, to allow the larger horsepower outboards like 60hp for example, good build though👍

what does the study kit include?
Qual é o raio da chapa plana do casco para formar o v?
Is aluminum really all that hard to weld? I've heard that it is
not at all if you have a 8-9 K welding machine ! most you just turn a dial on the gun and its sets it up right.
Any gas equipped mig can do it you just need proper gas to go with alum wire
Looks great 👍🏻
what went oner the wolds on the outside of the boat
You obviously don't understand the difference between "Plans" and "Kits"
First you try to figure what welder to buy.
If you do start looking, try and pay the extra for mig pulsing.
Amigo, será que você pode passar as medidas da lancha. Gostaria de fazer uma.
Is it the the insurance/ CO or the government on flotation
+Stan Chetco Hi Stan, it is government regulation that requires positive flotation in all boats 20 feet or under. This is pretty much an international safety standard.
You should improve your website, it looks like a phishing site, with redirects.
You forgot your Oar handles because I don't see an engine
Nice Job
cheaper to buy a new one, sadly, but it would be fun
I would love to purchase this kit and build it. Does anyone have a rough guesstimate on material prices?
Weight of the boat then multiply by $3.35 equals approx. cost of materials minus what the plans cost.
shawn4900, so if boat weighs 1/4 ton then material cost is $ 0.8375 minus what plans cost, so the materials cost is less than nothing. Where do I get this material.
$4.00 a pound, maybe more for the sheet. 6061 for the frames and 5052 for the hull sheeting. Take a guess?

Very Nice
Decent looking kit, not what I would want, I want a deeper duck boat style and a deeper salt boat style. But this is very nice!
Moro em Manaus, Amazonas.
how mtsh???????????
How many people out there have equipment for aluminum welding? Looks like a nice boat but sure as hell I couldn't assemble one! 8-D
Nice
were did you get the kit at?
Hi +Travis Castilleja You can get this kit and several others at www.metalboatkits.com :)
Time to get a tig welder. Does a mig weld aluminum anywhere close to as well as a tig?
It’s just plans, not an actual kit (kit means it includes all materials to build it)
Quisiera que me Apo yen moral mente de lo que fabrico como contra placa dora tadura
When they don't list a price, then you know it will be too much. More then buying a good used one already done.
You are selling plans not a kit quit misleading
Need some serious TIG welding skills and equipment!
Or a pulsed mig with a push pull spool gun. Either way it'll cost you some coins in gear. But would be way cheaper than paying for a pre built one.
can you give me the drawings of ship without
So you can copy it it Vietnam and ship to to America
Amazing....
Thanks. you
