@@jameswagesi1026what about him🤔as good as Luther is he sounds like a lot of other great smooth soul singers, Justin hayward has a more distinctive vocal style, but to be honest, 2 totally different singers🎶😊
Their songs refresh the spirit when we have strayed too much into the material world to remind us of what is really important ...... Love and Nature. They bring back hope to let us know it's still not too late to change and to have happiness.
This is one of the loveliest songs to come out of the late 60s. And the album it came from - In Search of The Lost Chord - is utter poetic beauty. After 55 years it has lost none of its power.
It blows my mind that Justin said he has never considered himself a singer. What a voice! I have adored this band since my brother introduced them to me when I was 12. I’m now 62, and they have been the soundtrack to my life.
Yes....what a voice - what a song - what a group of tremendously talented musicians that no one can come close - the soundtrack to my life as well....😊😇🥰
My 5 older brothers started me on my " Moodies voyage" in 1968 at age 8. I'm still taking that journey until the white eagle of the North flys me to paradise.
I first heard The Moodys in the late 70s with Nights in White Satin Then when I heard Justin on War of the Worlds I was hooked! When I was 16 and had my first job in 1979 I bought a French pressing of Days of Future Passed. Always loved that album. Only got in to them again in the last 5 years and bought In search of the lost chord. What an album! Now have several others too . Absolute genius and so Spiritual.
Back in the day, I always had them No. 2 behind Procol Harum. Robin Trower's guitar, Matthew Fisher's adroit Hammond Organ, and Gary Brooker's Baroque piano playing and magnificent baritone voice. But, yeah, the Moody Blues were excellent.
I was having a delightful romp through the Flower Child era when this SINGULARLY classy, elegant group released this wonderfully uplifting ode to Spring. I loved it then and still do 5 decades later! No fanfare or posturing ... simply great, original, creative mastery of their own brand of music.
No matter what song Moody Blues sing they still bring inner reflection of who we all are then and now. Miss those days with head phones and just being carried away with all the diffrent sounds, one could hear the sounds of the sea.
Oh how I love this song! I heard this today while driving in my car, it brought tears to my eyes. How beautiful this melody is and Justin Haywards voice is heaven sent. I have loved them since I was 10 years old when my Mother played their records. Thank you to all of these amazingly talented and gifted musicians. I'm an adoring fan for life!
The best thing about the Moody Blues is that they followed their own individual path, never paying much heed to the trends of the day and were incredibly successful in doing it.
+Tara McSparron Their music is gentle, loving and imaginative. That just doesn't fit in anywhere in our violent society. But those qualities are no joke to me.
Whats amazing to me anyway is how young Justin was at this time, I think him and Stevie winwood had to be the youngest guys in rock and they were writing incredible songs at such a young age.
After seeing the Moodies "live" over 50 times since 1970, their rare performance of this song always sends chills up my spine. It's probably their simplest yet deepest song...ever! The true genius of Justin Hayward!
This is so redolent of the spirit of that era. Things were, by and large, more tender and compassionate. This song is so beautiful and takes me back to those times - better times, in my humble opinion. As a footnote, Justin Hayward’s mum used to teach “domestic science” at my secondary school in West London.
the first kind of progressive rock ever. a great invention of a real great music ! then came pink floyd, queensryche, simphonic rock and many others... but moody blues was the "start-button" for all of this. and i cant stop hearing their music - just love them !
I think this song's message is that there is so much beauty to appreciate and so many lessons for all of us to learn everywhere, in every corner of this universe. (From the "bluebird flying high", to the "old man passing by", to the "children with their skipping rope.") It also speaks of a noticeable/profound change occurring deep within the soul/person - this is especially evident with his phrase/line, "Just what is happening to me? I lie awake with the sound of the sea."

For my money, this is the greatest rock band of all time. Beautiful songs. Beautiful ideas. Highly skilled, classicaly-trained musicians. Convincing singers. Awe-inspiring albums. Timeles music. They had their ups and downs. But their works are still burning bright after four decades. Let us not forget their incomparable producer, Tony Clarke, a master craftsman on their first few albums. An amazing assemblage of Rritish talent. I will love their music forever.

So does anyone out there believe young men in their 20’s or early 30’s these days could even dream of producing such amazing progressive lyrics and sound?!?! From all I’ve seen and heard the past 30 years there’s absolutely no way! These guys and many more such as YES, ELP, KING CRIMSON, GENESIS, JETHRO TULL, THE WHO and I could go on and on set the bar so high these spoiled generations these last few decades don’t have the hunger and passion it takes. MB’s… y’all are a true blessing!
Wow! You are spot on!! That's right - who could have ever produced what the MB's produced when they were that young? It only goes to show that they had something beautiful going on inside of their hearts and minds....
In 1981 I travelled as a 26 yo from Oz to Eurpope on the compulsory camping trip. Somehow finished up at 55 High Street, Cobham. Nice lady in the record shop next door took me next door upsatairs to the Moodies headquarters. She gave me copy of lithograph of long distance voyager, tee shirt etc etc. A time I will never forget.
This is truly poetry in song. You can visualize everything Justin is singing and it comes across in his beautiful voice and the MB's music. A Timeless piece of great music!!!
A beautiful song that I remember hearing long ago in my teens. I still love it. Saw the Moody Blues about 10 years ago in concert. They were fantastic. One of the greats!!
Back in the day, a couple of my friends were fans. I thought they were just good. Move forward 40 years and I realise just how wonderful they were. Better late than never! This band has given me, a life-long musician, a new appreciation of what matters in music.

The Moody Blues is one of the most underrated musical groups in today 's music world. It is really a shame that they still have not been inducted in R&R Hall of Fames. They are probably the first musical group that employs orchestra assembly with their songs. They are truely the pioneer of a so called "Rock Opera" music.

Classical Moody Blues sound and timeless. This song greatly impacted me when I first heard it in 1971. Now in 2023, the song still impacts me the same as it did in 1971. I am an American Christian male, retired US Army and retired Boeing. There are lots of good rock and roll bands, but the Moody Blues is one of only very few musical bands I listen to with any regularity. I have all of their albums and special releases. I first saw the Moody Blues in concert at the Baltimore Civic Center in October 1971. I had just returned from a combat tour in Vietnam in July of that year. Me and 3 other soldiers from Ft Meade MD paid $6.50 for each ticket at the door. The next time I was able to again see the Moody’s in concert was at the Paramount Theater in Seattle, WA, October 2013. For my wife and I together, tickets cost $150. I would have paid more. The music of the Moody Blues kept me sane and off drugs and booze when I was a young man. The music helped shape me as a man as I matured.
That's great sir. I discovered them as an aspiring musician in the 90's when I was a teenager. I love how powerful this sound is. Good music is eternal. I remember hearing Days of Future Passed on the radio and was simply blown away.
The Moody Blues were pretty unique in their time. One has to remember when this music was made. It was not main stream in the late 60s early 70s. The had a following that was almost religious in nature.
Been listening to the moody blues since I was ten years of age, I am now sixty eight years old. Inside I am still that ten year old boy learning about life and fortunate to live in an era with groups such as this. We shall see nor hear the likes of these bands ever again, how blessed I was. God bless all like the moody blues who gave us such wonderful music.
They were pure genius with a poetic vision that touched our existential nature -- luring listeners to seek what we hadn't been taught with conventional academia.
Beautifully put I heard this song back in 1970 I was 10 years old I only heard it once or twice on a College Station in Gainesville Florida in I didn't hear it any longer for long period of time in in the mid eighties when they came out with C d's I saw the album of their greatest hits and I bought it I could never get enough for this song the elegance the beauty simplicity of it it's beautiful not much music today is like that but the thing I love about the sixties most of the artist were not concerned about commercialism in money my brother's friends who are of that age someone to Vietnam some did not but they realize the simplicity and elegance of the music and the artist. Fantastic song fantastic group of always enjoyed The Moody Blues and ELP and many others. Thank you and God bus are you guys.. 🙂😌😽🙋♂️🖖👍✌
This song is nothing short of magical and Justin's voice is nothing short of magnificent. I want to cry every time I hear this because it is so achingly beautiful.
I love this song and the beautiful colors around our dear Justin..he's so special...I lost my mum sept. 2011 and have been blessed with 3 dreams of her letting me know she is more than well in heaven and is treated very well there, and I've heard my dad's voice...I am sure all of our loved ones are in that "special place"..our pets also lol
This is one of my favorite rock and roll groups of all time. They are great. Like someone said earlier, the music of today can't compare with the groups from back then. These guys had talent. They didn't just make a bunch of noise that had a half ass beat to it. They were one of many great groups of artists from those days that were incomparable. It is a shame that such groups don't exist today. They were in it not just for the money, but they loved what they did and they had much talent.
So many beautiful songs to listen to, so many wonderful stories and poems to read, so many delcious things to drink, smell and eat. Hope I never run out of days, thanks for posting this rainbow at the end of a brilliant day!

The Moody Blues were pretty unique in their time. One has to remember when this music was made. It was not main stream in the late 60s early 70s. The had a following that was almost religious in nature.
and still should be, imo. Really listen to those year's music. It's deeper than we realized
@@fairytalesforallbylynnesof2124 Perfectly said!!!! They were not superficial at all!
@@robertastone7155 I do love that about them. Thank you
Been listening to the moody blues since I was ten years of age, I am now sixty eight years old. Inside I am still that ten year old boy learning about life and fortunate to live in an era with groups such as this. We shall see nor hear the likes of these bands ever again, how blessed I was. God bless all like the moody blues who gave us such wonderful music.
Brilliance right here! 🏆
Spot on!!! Spot on!!!
my father's music. totally brought up with it. just wish i had my own children to share these life- important songs with
They were pure genius with a poetic vision that touched our existential nature -- luring listeners to seek what we hadn't been taught with conventional academia.
+8armwrap Cool.....
2011 and have been blessed with 3 dreams of her letting me know she is more than well in heaven and is treated very well there, and I've heard my dad's voice...I am sure all of our loved ones are in that "special place"..our pets also lol
to me this song is like an adult lullaby...now i can get some sleep...i love you justin forever and ever and ever!
The song represents forgotten ideals, the world not just as it is, but as it should be inside the soul. It makes me cry.
What a gem from the Moodies
