The Moody Blues always had wonderful profound lyrics. I listened to them a lot throughout the 80s. Boomers worshiped the Moody Blues.

I´m from Colombia.. i heard this song when i was... maybe 9 or 10 Y.O. The music was and is amazing. I kept this song in my mind... Not even knew the name of the song Never Knew.. i wasn´t sure that it was a Moody Blues´ song. You know, other culture, other kind of music Now i´m pretty sure. . love this music. My english is not quite good, but hope the one which (who) loves music can understand me.

The Moody Blues, like Pink Floyd were so far ahead of their time in their music and lyrics. Their songs have transcended the passage of time, to make them even as popular today as when they were first originally released.
This song is incredible, everything about it resonates on so many levels, from lost loves to happy relationships. Its so universal in that it shows recognition without judgements. I do believe its in the top 5 best songs I have ever heard and I am an audiophile. Just Awesome

I can only hope and pray, that you are able to finally find some happiness that will hold you over until you are both together again!

It seemed coincidental that every time that I was drivng up the grade to go to NAU in Flagstaff, Arizona, back in the 80's...EVERY TIME...this song was on the radio at some point in time on that drive. "Won't you take me back to school..." I think that the radio station in Flagstaff overplayed it for the returning students...But what a way to drive up that grade. I loved it then...I love it now. That brings back memories.

+Daisy Train I agree. They write, play, record and tour simply because they love the music and their fans. The Moodies aren't in it for an induction to the Hall of Fame; As they stated once in LA, "We're a working band; we love creating our music, and bringing it to the fans" They don't need the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; they know who they are.

    • @wlodell

      +Daisy Train
Indeed, the Moody Blues have stated clearly in interview(s) that the R&R Hall of Fame is not relevant to them and not their concern, but acknowledged it is important to their American fans. My personal opinion is that the manner in which the R&R Hall of Fame conducts business is like American politics - it is contradictory and reflects the downside of American culture.

My wife and I had the opportunity to see The Moody Blues in concert a couple of years before Ray Thomas passed away. It was an awesome concert in what used to be my old work environment, Saratoga Spa State Park's, Performing Arts Center. And I have to say what someone once posted many, many years ago, "The Really Know How To Write a Love Song!" And now the only two members that are left of the original band, Justin Hayward and John Lodge.

Many years ago, maybe 1971 or so, I was in the Air Force and in my barracks when some music began to come through the wall. Normally that would cause me to grind my teeth and tell them to turn it down. In this case, it turned out to be the Moodies, and that was my introduction to their incredible music. Over the years I have played some albums so many times that I literally know all the words just from listening. Blue Jays was one of my absolute favorites. Over the years, Justin Hayward has written some absolutely incredible music, and continues to do so. What the world would have missed had he not ever picked up a guitar.

The very first time I heard this song was years ago on my car radio. It came on with no introduction. I knew immediately and without a doubt it was The Moody Blues. The voice, and style are so distinctive to the band. If I were stranded on an Island and had only one band's works to listen to it would be this fine band of men. Rocking with them since 1974. I've been to 4 of their concerts with the last in 2001 at the Paul Masson Winerie. considered by me the best concert I have ever been to..

oh yes, I do matter, It's unfair , taking into account that minor or insignificant groups are in. Apart from Bowie, Zeppelin and Genesis - Elton John maybe - I don't know no other British singer or group has been inducted. I feel sorry for the Moody Blues as well as for Yes or other prog-rock groups that I like. Americans are funny. But I listened to an interview with Justin Hayward. He was asked how much he regretted not being in the Hall of Fame and he more or less replied that he couldn't care less becausehe's/ they're Europeans and Europeans have a different view from Americans of what good music is about. Kind of : the hall of fame is shit; if your in , it doesn't necessarily means your good.

@phoenixstarchild You and Gail have excellent taste. I was a young 22 year old stud when this came out. It kept me company while driving a Trailways bus.On my days off, I listened to this on WCBS and WKRS FM. Do not cry for her. Rejoice, because she is gone with Jesus and she is not suffering anymore.

samysam hit it right on the head, the kids don't know what good music is. I missed out on the "Moodies" forty years ago and am now trying to catch up . I had no idea they had such great stuff out there, but like I have told others, I wouldn't have appreciated them back them like I do now and I am going to be 82 next month and they make me feel like a kid again. I have a lot of catchi8ng up to do, they make me laugh, cry, just melt away God I love those guys

Imannachristine Precise grammar is the cornerstone of human communication. Imprecise language creates confusion and breaks down the flow of ideas between people, cultures, and civillizations. Simply changing one word can create an entirely different meaning and even ones completely contrary to the original thought. For instance, two warring countries in negotiations require restraint, nuance, and clear intentions. Without such clarity, miscommunication can lead to human suffering, hatred, war and consequently the end of life on planet Earth. Practice this precision and have it influence others to do the same, lest the planet is consumed and destroyed in nuclear war.
