Sweater spins are super cool! Good luck with yours. FYI, you can unply and remove the twist from singles or a plied yarn, if it is over plied. You can do this on a spindle or a spinning wheel. Yes, it really works and I've done it a few times. You can also do the same thing to an underplied, underspun yarn! (if you would like.)

Thanks for the tip! I’ve done this with one single before that was spun in the wrong direction! with my skeins that didn’t turn out (because I had one single spun in the wrong direction) though I would have to separate the plies again before re-spinning and replying and since those were just learning fiber and now hanks and I don’t have all the time in the world I think I’m just going to leave it and look at them as part of the learning curve 🤭 but yeah, it’s amazing what you can do with spinning yarn :)

Excited to follow along too! I’m spinning for an Attune Shawl right now… if it goes well I definitely want to do a sweater spin! Thank you for highlighting the Craftsy link, I watch Kaci’s podcast but missed it somehow!! What a great deal 😮

Excited to follow along on your sweater spin journey! I’m also thinking of spinning for the MC for a Framed sweater 😊💜 Feels like a nice way to start sweater spinning!

One person who I like to watch spin is Kirsten of J K Fiber Arts. I watched all of her Tour de Fleece episodes this summer and learned lots of new techniques. One trick I’ve heard some spinners do is to use a piano metronome (find an app on your phone) to help manage your treadling. Good luck with your sweater spin!

i’ll definitely check out that channel, thanks for the recommendation ☺️ i’ve heard about that trick as well, I guess my desire to be entertained while spinning (aka listening to audiobooks or podcasts) has been greater than the desire for a person resulting yarn but it’s a great tip if someone might be really struggling with keeping the same pace at treadling 👍🏼

so I bought it already used for at least 3 years (might have been even longer) which means I might have to upgrade some say in the future but so far I’m super happy with it - it’s size is practical, it has an integrated lazy kate and the fiber is super easy to fiddle through the feeder - it’s probably not as sturdy and versatile than more expensive ones but it has served me very well so far 😊 thank you!!
