- I could put a lot here, like how this is my first non-overwatch video in forever, or how i wanted something to show to friend when pitching this game to them. but really it's been stuck in my head for the last 6 months since finishing it and i just had to do something about it.

This is one of my favourite Outer Wilds video on the internet and I come back to it from time to time.
Thank you for this beautiful piece!

“We do not have much connection, you and I…”
“…Still, this encounter feels special…”
“…I hope you won’t mind if I think of you as a friend.”
Always tears me up because anyone who’s honestly played the game up until that point will feel the same (content creators forcing themselves through the game non-withstanding)
But it’s also so incredibly well written. It could have been cheesier and lost us. It could have been overly obtuse and lost us. But no, it was genuine and framed in such an honest way that makes it hard for you to disagree.
Yeah, we do not know each other, and you ESPECIALLY don’t know me, but we are here together in this incredibly strange moment, sharing information while we can, and the amicability between us definitely shows that, given our constraints, we are incredibly special friends. And have become so immediately, because of who we both are.
An incredible narrative tee-up by the developers. It’s hard to get to this point without having the same curiosity as her. We had no choice but to be friends.
when i first saw this line in game it hit me so hard uuuughhh

I wish I never played Outer Wilds. Then I could play Outer Wilds for the first time. What an incredible video for an incredible game.
the single silver lining to amnesia
Agreed! It’s made very well and would be a perfect trailer. Though it does have a few clips that would spoiler some excitement for finding out about it, like the Star blowing up.
don't we all...
lucky me. I never played it...yet.
You can, if you just forget about it 😉
I don't know what to do anymore, how am I supposed to continue with my life knowing that all my friends are too ignorant to play this masterpiece, knowing that I would give everything to be like them and be able to play it without knowing anything
i feel you T_T they just refuse to play it!! if only they knew what they're missing out on
Don't give up guys ! After 2 years finishing this game , my best friend is finally doeing it . He just went too sunstation for the first time yesterday and couldn't put off the smile on is face for being baited till now ! Next Session he is goeing too try finding The eye still hoping that he can stop the blowing sun someway. I can't wait :D
I've started taking my switch around to let people play it. hoping, just hoping, that they are taken with it like we all were
I feel lucky to have people to replay it with
This literally could've been the official trailer. I especially love that "in the ancient glade" is in Nomai text
:;)
Nah, this is way too spoilery to be a trailer.
@@Watch3rOfTheSkies oh! it is?
@@NooNahha don't worry, it isn't. you can't say a game is set around escaping a supernova, then call the supernova a spoiler. that's like saying the guns of call of duty are a spoiler, or the blocks of minecraft. they're the storylines of the games.
@@we-must-live i think its a spoiler in the sense that as the player its cool to figure out whats going on every 22m as you play. even though the game is based around that, you don't know that at the start, and i think its part of the fun of the game to learn things and put stuff together.
This game is what happens when you put the art of game design and the love of your own creation, before profit.
Bro i have bought it recently and now im just ride my ship blindly to another planet's what should i do? I don't understand what the game wants me to do
@@gamestoon1500 Ride your ship blindly to other planets and explore the planets in detail. Figure out what the nomai writings are saying and talking about, piece that puzzle together. Find out why things happen the way they do
1:44 is my favourite part of the video. Some of the best moments in the game are when something completely unexpected happens, throwing you of course, and you have to come up with some crazy solution to get back on track. I've never played another game that managed to capture that feeling so well.
Learning physics the hard, hand-on way.
Every moment with the ship casually flying away without the hatchling filled my heart with a pure "Nooooooooooo" emotion.
I.. I'm not gonna lie, I just burst into tears watching this. I'd give anything to go through those adventures again...

honestly quite close to that, outer wilds was just so unique of an experience...
God, what an incredible game. It's such an incredible demonstration that, like books and movies, video games can be a medium to tell a story, and an absolutely beautiful one at that.
And you did a fantastic job of capturing that emotion in this. There simply aren't words to describe how us Outer Wilds lovers feel about the game, but video gets pretty damn close.
Thank you, Outer Wilds, for emotionally destabilising me. You will always have a special place in my heart.
Hornfells: So hatchling, what's the first thing you're gonna do when u intentionally launch yourself into space?
Hatchling: Yes!
The hatchling says I will restart the entire universe just for fun

this game is definitely one of my best experience in life
Dude, this game just became better every second I played it until I finished it, I wish I could play it again as the first time
don't we all... ::,)
When I first read, "maybe it doesn't have to be us" in game, I started to tear up. Species separated by hundreds of generations, yet they somehow found a way to work together, even if they didn't realize it. This game, and the Nomai in general, are such a treat. It's both incredible and a travesty that this game is literally a once in a lifetime experience. But damn, I'm glad I was born in the time it was created so I could get to experience it all.
Such a beautiful game, can't wait for the DLC!
Dlc- best of the best!
Now we need another DLC
@@KinTsume YEAH

As a grown-ass man: I'm proud to admit that this video made me cry.
What a beautiful tribute! I cried, haha
I'm two achievements off 100 percenting the game (and got the archaeologist one my first playthrough because it just took me that long to figure out the puzzles - I had to search the whole solar system for answers before realising I had everything I needed... other than a brain, apparently)
I have almost pretty much nothing left to do, and yet... almost every night, I still boot up the game just to exist in its spaces and take in its incredible sights..
When you're not trying to save the universe - when you're at peace with it all... the game is so incredibly beautiful and relaxing.
Oh, this is beautiful and so well made. I particularly love the gasp before the music restarts at 1:03, so neat. The last clip with the sun shining on the Eye Shrine window is very cool and poignant as well. Lastly, I love the quote you chose. When I read it in-game, I gasped out loud, i can't even say why it made such an effect.
Where can I find the quote in game?
@@moblinvariable246 the quote at the end of video is from the Quantum Grove on Timber Hearth. And the title of the video is from the Sunless City Eye Shrine.
This edit is absolutely brilliant ! Thank you, for making this. It makes my heart happy
thank you!!!! this comment makes my heart happy ::'D
@@batatat glad to hear it 😁
Chillllllls man. Its crazy how important this game became for me.
My god i fucking love this. Seriously, this game (along with only a few other ones like before your eyes or subnautica) can make me cry almost every single time i play it. It is just...amazing. And guess what? It is severely underrated. Sure it got 3 GOTY awards, but it doesn't seem like anyone has been talking about it ever since it came out.
Again I just cannot describe this...most possibly one of, if not the best game ever made.
Also edit: Forgot that this video was made by someone with 75 subscribers. Even less than myself. HOW. I fucking love you so much (not literally but fucking hell this is incredible xD)
thank you!!! ;w;. and i actually got like 11 new subscribers since posting this. its kind of crazy to see it reach an actual audience! all the comments are especially cool, since the reason i make videos is because i find editing fun ::D
@@batatat Oh wow nice! I really hope you can get a lot more subs :)
Also yes, youre really good at editing!
Now listen, I’m usually against outer wilds spoilers and I will physically force people to play the game without looking it up.
...
But if I had to introduce someone to this incredible game, and spoil it??
This is undoubtedly the best video to do it.
This is such an amazing video, thank you.
(Also I cannot stress how much I love that you used that quote for the title ❤️❤️❤️)
@@basilisk5855 thank you so much!!!! this project started as me just wanting be able to reccomend my favorite game to my friends, but its really hard given most teenagers dont have 30 bucks to drop on a mystery. so i went with showing off each planet's main mechanic + supernova as a hook(way more spoilers than ideal but what can ya do). and since i figured a decent amount of people would be watching this who've already played the game, i left a few things hidden in plain sight for them. other than that i just tried to stick as closely to the theme and song as possible.
and about the title, i was waiting for the sand it the last clip and realized that the other nomai's lines dont get enough recognition :;)
sorry for the long read, but this is the first time ive ever seen a comment that's absolutely clicked with what i was going for so it felt special ::D

It's clear how you have enjoyed and loved the game, the planets and the space, and the journey of yourself. Every accident in your journey (1:44 so funny) must be treasures for you! I'm glad to see this video.
From Japan, sorry for poor English.
thanks so much!! and your english is great!!
i wonder if solanum remembers the times i spent loops just sitting with her so she didn't have to be alone
She's not alone, she technically doesnt exist like that until you observe the sixth location
This is a game I think everyone should play. It's my favorite game to come out recently and I think it demonstrates just what games can achieve as a medium. It is truly something I would consider a masterpiece because of how everything blends into one another: the story, gameplay, etc all give an experience unlike any other
Who can honestly say that they have seen a supernova up close and personal and can talk about it later...
Just finished the (base) game a couple of days ago and now I'm sitting here with that empty feeling like nothing will ever be as good as this game. Everything was just so well put together. All the puzzles, all the log entries, all its inhabitants, all the planets and other floaty bits in the sky... all tied together into an intricately woven story. I love this game with all my heart. ::)
it gets easier i promise ::,)

this is the only game i've ever felt an emotional connection like this... thanks for this video. Makes me remember those amazing moments, fuckups, and insane realisations... love 1:25 especially!
Aside from the fact that discovering these things is all part of the game - showing just a fraction of all the different ways things can go awry turns out to actually be such a compelling thing to have in a video for those who have never played it before
I'm so glad I played this game.

You managed to encapsulate the beauty and wonder nicely
tysm
"Maybe it doesn't have to be us"
You couldn't have chosen a better quote for the title. Universally recognizable amongst everyone who played the game and yet not once ever spoken or mentioned in the game. Beautiful video!
actually it is spoken! but its tucked away in the eye shrine district of the sunless city, so its pretty out of the way. i was reading the text on the wall while waiting for the sand to rise so i could get the last shot and it was somewhere in there. thank u so much tho ::D i thought it really fit! and wasnt an "overused" one like solanum's quotes
@@batatat Oh man, I didn't even realize that! That's super neat! I think it's a rather universal thought implanted in every player's mind going through this game, especially after getting attached to the Hearthians. It really does fit!
@@batatat I just found the context for it and I've gotta say the meaning, at least for me, was completely different reading it from the title.
To the Nomai, they're saying how maybe they don't need to be the ones to finish the job.
To the Hatchling/Hearthians, I feel like they'd be saying, "Maybe we don't have to go just yet" which really is how you feel mid-game until you realize there's nothing you can do.
Which then comes back around to the quote again, feeling like, perhaps, even if we're not the ones living in the next universe, we can still make it a good one for them and ensure it exists.
It's such a good quote

The person just remade an Outer Wilds release trailer. This is absolutely amazing, this made my year.
omg thank u so much ::,)
Oh man that brings back a whole ton of good memories !
You managed to capture the chaos nicely. ;)
The bit with the botched ship repair on the Hourglass Twins was immaculate.
that took so many takes!
I always end up somehow coming back to this video... it truly encases everything I love about this game, right down to pinpoint movement that even the camera control shows here, the unwilling curiousity, nervous to take that first step. The clumsy mistake. This video IS Outer Wilds in his entirety to me. It will never be anything less.
every once in a while i'll get a comment on this video and have to watch it again myself. i don't know if anyone else has pointed out the camera movements, btw! those were all very intentional. i really wanted to capture how it felt experiencing this game the first time around. good eye :;)
This was beautiful, the way you synced the music up to these moments was perfect. Best Outer Wilds tribute I've seen!
Terrific video. Your cuts with the music were fantastic, and you captures the sort of emergent gameplay where unexpected events just happen to you on your random journey
Again, this fan video the best "trailer" to show to people to intrigue them to play the game.
Absolute perfection. It shows the vibe of the game, the mechanics, the basic premise and beautiful moments. Enough to excite, but not enough to spoil!
i was hoping for that :D
There are some games that cannot be described in words. When I passed the game, I just sat in front of the computer with tears and did not understand how people could create such a masterpiece. Thinking about this game, a sad smile appears on my face. It's just a masterpiece and in the comments many people understand me.
I am not crying I just have a Solanum in my eye
Absolutely beautiful video; it captures everything I love about this game. I've come back to watch it again more times than I can count.
thank u so much ::,)
This gem of a game will always have a special place in my heart
Fantastic video it really brings back all the emotions from playing, side note I think yoy do a great job showing things off that don't have enough context or length to spoil really anything, I mean aside from the time loop but it's hard not to know about that at this point. I knew about it before playing although I didn't fully understand until it happened.
I come back to this every once in a while, and each time i've got the chills
Truly an amazing edit, thanks a lot !
There is nothing like this game. Nothing.
Now I wonder how a version of this for Echoes of the Eye would be like.
1:02 the abrupt pause in music to respawn.... aaaand the adventures continue. Chills!
If i can play this.. masterpiece again, even one more time

Im not gonna get tired to oversay it. This is the best game i have played in my life and probably it will be that way for the rest of my life

Actually one of the best videos to show what's Outer wilds look likes. Great job ! Offical trailer material
Okay you made me sob a little bit... good work
This was good but that ending really got me. Everyone who's played it through knows exactly what that Nomai writing in the corner says.
It's unfortunately been a bit since I played it and I did so in essentially one day because I couldn't put it down, but I can't remember any specific Nomai text
I laughed too hard on that 1:25. The sheer confusion
I wondered why this is so good. Now I know that just... is. And God do I love it.
You know you've played the game too much when you already know what the nomad text at the end says...
i love quantum poetry ^_^
AMAZING, excellent work. This game is so special to me thanks for doing this, and using the Campfire song was so neat.
It really does stick with you. Amazing job with this
man reading that and thinking about my outer wilds experience and the things I've been trynna learn after it gave me goosebumps. That's an aphorism if I ever seen one.
"Maybe it doesn't have to be us" is a crazy indication of altruism and awareness of a race. I'm a cynic with little to no hope besides my family, but this gave me more for some reason
