LOVE seeing goats on their preferred browse!! Most of the time I see goats on grass pasture. My small herd of goats are on browse for the majority of their diet.
Which is exactly where they should be. Our herd of 30 cleared 8 acres in just a few weeks! They would get so excited when my then hubby would cut down a tree inside.
I’ll do some videos going later into summer on that. Right now the goats have a bigger area for kidding and we’re not cramming them in tight. But from my experience after taking all the green in a paddock for the first time with it grows back almost the same as grass does after a grazing. I can do a video explaining all that as well. Thanks for commenting!
The area will be nourished by using the regenerative grazing model, the sunlight will be able to reach the lower floor and other species will grow back, this is one of the best ways to graze and raise livestock and control the woodland floor and fauna.
Amazing how much they clear out. You sure have lots of energy and enthusiasm. And you think outside the box that is prevalent in so much of life. Blessings to your family

The dairy is doing good. I should do a video there to sometime to show everyone how that all operates with everything else going on. Grazing the dairy heifers there along with the dry cows too. Never a dull moment that’s for sure!
Awesome!! I’m looking at doing the same to clear out some pastures for our cattle. How do you do about clearing your fence lines so they don’t ground out on all the brush? That’s my biggest concern.
Usually I try to run a good sized energizer so I don’t have to worry about it too much. But otherwise most people clear a path so they’re not grounded out so much. If you got a big enough energizer you won’t have to worry.
Goats.. love my father's say. You know how to tell if you fence will hold goat in. Walk along you fence, bring some coffee along, inspect the entire fence. Randomly throw you coffee across the fence. If the coffee crosses the fence it won't hold goats. My dad say this more eloquently than me but you get the point.
@olumideiluyomade7613 yes we do. We usually sell the goats in the fall and into the winter. Feel free to email us anytime! info@wholesomefamilyfarms.com
Wish our town would invest in a company / farm which has goats to use to clear their solar panel farm instead of having a landscaping company do sure would be cheaper.
Multi flora rose bush? They strip all the leaves off of them and even eat some of the thorny tips. 3 years of grazing them like that will kill them off.

What kind of plants d goats eat? I have 2 frankly idk what they want

I wonder if individual goats each have a favorite thing to eat? I’d like to think when they get to a new spot they run to find their favorite plant
They all have their favorites!
It would be interesting to see a pan-o-view of that area in 3-4 weeks.

7:36. Holy crap?!? How many goats do you HAVE?? Like 200?? Quite impressive!
They’re a lot of fun!! We don’t have enough for all the brush we have! They eat a lot but there is so much brush out there!
I am curious how much water each goat requires each day.
And whether these goats need grain also.
They don’t need any grain and water requirements are very low especially if you get dew. If they have thick woods with shade also helps
That’s a lot of goats
We are considering goats! But just didnt want to worry about them getting out
If you got good fence and enough fees they do good.

How many goats did you have when you started and when ago was it?
We started in early 2020 and we started a herd with 80 does.
@@WholesomeFamilyFarms how many are they now?
I have brushy ground too with lots of briars and poison ivy, but it appears that goats could whip it into shape. I think I will give it a try.
Would really like to know the exact layout of your 2 strand poly wire electic fence.
The 2 strand polywire is portable fence so every time we move the goats that changes .
@@WholesomeFamilyFarms I was under the impression with that much brush it's hard to keep the fence charged.
Please remember to show an after when they are done. How many guard dog do you run with this heard.
We run 2 good ones and 2 more that we’re trying to get bonded with everyone if they don’t work out we’ll get some more pups.
How cold can they handle? In the winter you have to feed them indoors, right? How much does it cost you through the winter?
I feed them outside all winter. They have a 3 sided shed to go into to get out of the wind. The cold they can handle it’s the wind that’s tough.
Is it difficult to sell that many goats there?
There are a few different markets to hit. We do a lot of direct sales as well.
Buffet time.
I watch first time your videos i am from Pakistan i am Big lover of goat farming so good work i love it
Wish our town would invest in a company / farm which has goats to use to clear their solar panel farm instead of having a landscaping company do sure would be cheaper.
They’d ruin the panels by climbing all over them
Do you have pretty good luck with them kidding in the timber?
Yeah they do just fine. A lot less confusion for them this way too. But you definitely need guard dogs I learned that the hard way!
@@WholesomeFamilyFarms what happened?
That's amazing...how many are there?
Quite a few. We’re still growing yet because the acres these guys go over still isn’t enough to get everything we want covered but they’re doing well
Do you know what kind of bush the goats left standing in the cleared pasture?
Multi flora rose bush? They strip all the leaves off of them and even eat some of the thorny tips. 3 years of grazing them like that will kill them off.
@WholesomeFamilyFarms Cool, I was just wondering if the goats ever come across something they won't/can't eat.
@@Unpainted_Huffhines not too often. They usually eat on just about anything with the right stocking density.
