INSTALLING OUR NEW TIRE TANK FOR WINTER ❄️ WATERING | GRAZING MILK COWS AND SHEEP ON STOCKPILE 🌱
We installed our new tire tank for winter watering, this is a no freeze option with zero electricity. Great for areas on your farm that are more remote but you want the ability to bale graze or graze stockpile in freezing temps. We are grazing our grass fed milk cows on stockpiled grass and moving the sheep around. #waterresources #farm #grazing #sheepfarmer #farmlife #milkcow #dairy #dairyfarm #livestock #wholesomefamilyfarms

IT’S BUCK SELECTION DAY 🐐🐐
มุมมอง 6142 หลายเดือนก่อน
It’s time to sort through our bucks and pick out our genetics for next year. We go through and select for masculine traits and qualities that we want in our herd. Only the best of the best make it through our program, but the benefits of having a larger herd is we can select for quality. #farming #grazing #wholesomefamilyfarms #goats #spanishgoats #bucks

Grazing School With Greg Judy @ George Heller’s Farm!
มุมมอง 7554 หลายเดือนก่อน
I was fortunate enough to be asked to talk about small ruminants at George Heller’s grazing school and Greg Judy and Isaac Tappenden were also speakers there as well. Meeting Greg Judy for the first time was awesome! The school had a great turnout with lots of great questions and networking! Would love to do it again! #grazing #soilregeneration #wholesomefamilyfarms

WATCH THESE GOATS EAT DORMANT BRUSH!!🐐🌾🐐
Isn't castrating kids against the law now that Trumpie is in office?
My heart hurts for your family knowing this. Your resilience and your commitment to your faith is admirable. ❤
I'd highly recommend plantra tree tubes. Get some cardboard down with woodchips around the base of the trees.
10:21 That goat is wondering who you are talking to.
Haha 😂
HI SIR, WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
SE Minnesota
Just asking why didn't you dock their tails great video
I guess we don’t see a need to do it. These are Dorper Katahdin cross so they shed most of their hair/wool.
What cross hair sheep do you raise?
We raise Dorper/Katahdin cross.
Are those kikos?
They’re mostly Spanish.
Very nice! Will it freeze up by the strainer? How is it working so far in the cold?
No. It seems to be working very well!
10:10 The Goat! All others got out of the way. 😅
Keep those goats skiddish less likely to bully you when working them. A decent sized buck can do some damage especially if you not paying attention like fixing a fence.
Man, you hit us with the word "castrated" without any warning - made my balls crawl back up into my abdomen!!! Other than that, a GREAT video 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do a time lapse.
That’s a good idea!
@@WholesomeFamilyFarms Floo The Flowerthorn among many others. The graze is easy. Requires persistence to get the regrowth. See you in a year. Fixed camera mount, both location and direction must be repeatable. And if you are feeling really ambitious multiple cameras/angles.
Atta boy, one more thing checked off the list.
I bought some mining tires that have a cement plug in them to do the same thing. Only difference is I think I’m gonna go with a pond bubbler to keep the trough open. It has a steel pipe up through the middle where the water comes up to a float. Probably hang a 100 watt light in there to keep it thawed over top of a culvert so the ground heat will help it too. We get some -40 through the winter though up here.
Interesting technique for training, thanks!
I saw you commented your pups are a mix breed, Maremma/Karackachan, can they handle wolves? This has been an issue in MN, have you come across an any issues with wolves in your area? Better question, have your dogs been able to keep them away from the livestock? There's been a few incidents in this area and from what I have researched and all your videos you've posted, I would believe your pups could handle? If so, how many pups do you have left, and which breed is the father/mother? From all your videos I've wached I can see the delight and beauty from your pups and a huge assest they are. I would love to get one for my farm/ranch - trained like yours, heard the cattle & sheep, family friend, and protector of the farm. Thanks!
I can’t say we have a lot of Wolves around here although there have been some in our area over the years. We’ve got mainly bobcats and coyotes to worry about here. I would have no doubt in my mind that these dogs work well with wolves too. These new pups should be ready to go on their own by spring/early summer. Would you be looking for male or female?
The dad is a full blood maremma and mother is full blood Karakachan. These dogs are guard dogs though. They don’t herd livestock like my dog Rusty does. He’s a border collie.
@@WholesomeFamilyFarms I want a Rusty pup as well to help heard the cattle, do you have any of those??? For the x-breed LGD Maremma/Karackachan, I still want one and prefer a female, would take a male - what do you have left?
@ we have males and females yet for the LGD and we do actually have a couple puppies out of Rusty too but they’re not trained yet and the training process for those involves alot of time.
Merry Christmas ! We have taken the holistic management course. Really helps with decision making.
Merry Christmas! Yeah I’m sure that would be another great course to take!
Get some kids castrated?!? Isn't that against the Geneva convention?
Good day. Trusting that the new year will be a much better one! God bless!! South Africa.
Appreciate it! God Bless!
Just wondering how much do you get for puppies. I’m in north east Ohio so I’m probably not gonna go to Minnesota to get one but I’m just interested in the price
We charge $500 for a already trained pup that’s good to go on their own.
Merry chrimas . How many ewes you have 🙂
Merry Christmas from Washington state
Merry Christmas!
Are your LGD's maremma x Anatolian?
Maremma/Karakachan we love em!
Oh I never heard of that cross that's awesomw.
Great video Jordan ! Keep up the great work!
Thanks appreciate it! Merry Christmas
Good video. Merry Christmas
Thanks Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas 👍🍻

Merry Christmas !
At 2x you’ve got the fastest sheep alive.
Haha funny! Merry Christmas!
Talk about making the cut.
“Wholesome family planet killers”. Absolute trash humans
I am curious how much water each goat requires each day. And whether these goats need grain also.
They don’t need any grain and water requirements are very low especially if you get dew. If they have thick woods with shade also helps
Buffet time.
They know where it's at.
Is Cotton a maremma breed?
Yeah he’s Maremma/Karakachan cross
@@WholesomeFamilyFarmsgood looking dog and when im ready i will be in touch👍🏼
I wonder if individual goats each have a favorite thing to eat? I’d like to think when they get to a new spot they run to find their favorite plant
They all have their favorites!
Why are you castrating at this point? Will they be going back with the females or buyers don't like them intact?
The ones we castrate we can run with females next spring and summer on grazing jobs and not worry about breeding and get bigger groups if needed this way.
💕 Love how you all work together! Bye bye... Nasty male goat behavior
We’ve been adding some dairy back into our herd a bit to increase milk production. Using a horned toggenburg this time. Most of our does are Spanish/boer crosses. Have used a horned saanen years ago. Helped quite a bit. Like the boer to add to the weaning weights, but like the Spanish cause they are a little smarter goat on pasture.
I could see that working!
Heyy man I have a question how did You get thatt puppy to start understanding the command because in the video she kinda knows what She's doing how did u get to that point
Just spend time with the dog on the leash and when you say come by less the dog left and when you say way to me lead the dog to the right and with repetition and time they’ll pick it up fast!
Are the cues relative to where you are or where the goats are.
Depends where I want the dog to apply pressure.
CA needs to start useing goats for undergrowth control especially with their terrian. wildfire preventive
Absolutely! And all the people with Cedar tree issues.
Great work🥰
Cows would level that grass out
How many head are you running in that flock?
Little over a 1000 here.
That's smart to use google maps like that. I might utilize that at some point in the future.
It will be interesting to see the improvements on the pastures next year
We’re always looking forward to more results!
How many goats are those in total and what breeds are they?
They are mostly Spanish goats. There are enough goats to do some great work on clearing brush and improving the land!
@@WholesomeFamilyFarms enough doesn't specify the number.
I love ur channel 😍
Thanks so much!

Appreciate you!
