I started with 1 chicken that was kept with roosters i got her for free and she kept laying for 2 weeks and went broady i gave her back her eggs 12 and 11 hatched that was 8 months ago now i got more then 90 and god knows how much quail 😂😂😂 they are super easy to multiply i could probably get more than 160 more by the end of the year if i want but cant handle that much i am keeping it under 100 on purpose
Bethany and Hunter, it’s amazing to see what you are doing at the Ludlam Farm! Such wonderful filming and narratives! Prayers for much success in all you set your hearts and hands to do! Love your talented, sweet family!❤
Hi guys congratulations for your proyect i love this video because is a lot of important information . So i'm a new suscriber. Receive a hug from burlingame California .🖐
Gave me a great idea! I love your pvc pipe set up for water and food. Im thinking i can use capped metal or plastic gutters and drill holes the same way, but ill connect it to the gutters on the coop so itll be rain water instead of having to fill up. Thank you! Im going to check out the rest of your page!
Just found your channel. We have (6) 20 week old chicks. Rhode Island Red & wydonette. They'll eat the cheap feed, which turns out to be mostly dust (waste of money). So, I've been slowly introducing them to feed with the good stuff (corn, seeds, peas, etc). Hopefully, they will adjust and start eating it. Then again, we probably winded up with finicky eaters 🐔 😞 😂
Congratulations on your new chickens. I hope you enjoy them. We started with 20 and we just kept getting more because we loved them so much! Ours eat just about anything. Lots of food scraps and I cook them peas, beans, lentils and pasta. It ends up being much cheaper and in my opinion better for them. We do give about 4 bags of food a week because it is much more convenient. They also forage several acres.
Would love to hear how you've gone about drumming up demand while the chickens were getting ready to lay. The jump from 100 to 600 is huge and as you said the feed cost is pretty significant. How frequently do you plan to switch out chickens?
This is a small tip but if you take each one out 1 at a time in front of the food and water tipping there beak into water and putting them down in same area. it can really help them health of the chicks.
We ordered all female. When you hatch your own you could end up with 50% or more roosters. These are for eggs not meat so that would have been a huge waste for us.
Yes we have flies. It’s summer time, we live in the country. What’s your point? We 1000% don’t have roaches. You think I’d just sit and film with roaches? Very weird comment but thanks for pushing the video for the algorithm✌🏼
@@Ludlamfamilyfarmgirl don’t worry about the comments. You can tell your house is clean and taken care of. Let’s all pretend we are perfect and never had a fly in the house before
Idk i just zoomed in and it does look like roaches. 🪳 and also flies. I’m from uk and we don’t have roaches here so I’m not sure if they’re associated with dirty things or what? I wouldn’t worry tho the house looks clean and everything looks great. Like u said it’s just summertime. Bugs happen. It’s inevitable. We have flying ants here that get in houses in summer and they’re so annoying to get rid of
I started from 5 chickens now own 56
That’s so exciting
Is it hard to raise chickens?

1st time watching. Really enjoyed, thank you.
Thank you so much for watching and for the feedback!
Rest in peace for those two life was so short
Chickens are so adorable beautiful creatures 🤩
If the ground on your land is that swampy, you might consider growing rice to feed your chickens.
Beautiful family, beautiful home, cute chickens!
Thank you so much!

They prefer to live and roost in the trees:) then its truly free too :)
All chicken coops need multiple fans especially when they are getting bigger
Yes, we did add some fans for the really hot days. Their permanent coop will have some too.

Love from Qazaqstan 👍👍👍
Nice video. Came here for the chicks. Only saw them half way through the video.😢
Time stamp 5:40 😉
We wanted to share the process of getting them set up. Hopefully you enjoyed plenty of baby chick footage.
Now that's chicken heaven lol. I just started with 60 birds myself this summer and perhaps 100 next spring. That is big to me 😂
If you started with 60 that’s way more than most people start with. I prefer to do 50-60 at a time. I find it much more manageable.
Would love to hear how you've gone about drumming up demand while the chickens were getting ready to lay. The jump from 100 to 600 is huge and as you said the feed cost is pretty significant. How frequently do you plan to switch out chickens?
feed cost is peanuts:)

lol
What planting zone or state are you in? I'm getting chickens this fall but only 4 for my backyard. I'm in zone 6.
I started at 15 chickens now i have 30 i wish i had more😂
Do you have problems with hawks, eagles and falcons preying on your chickens?
I want to do this but I dont have land.
I wanna start keeping chicken but afraid of their health. They get sick too much. How can I stop it?
Y'all should really look into growing your own fodder. Turn 50 lbs of seed into 200 lbs of forage.
You used sand instead of dust how good is the sand please tell me more
Sand is great! Easy to scoop and clean. We got a load this year and put it in all of our runs and coops.
Where did you order you chickens?
Who in the world uploads a 480p video in 2024??!!
I can’t tell the difference from 360p to 720p your not gonna die
Ppl who don’t have the money for a high quality camera I upload 720p because I can’t upload 1k

What about heat for the winter won't they freeze
No, not where we live. It’s just important they they have a dry and draft free place to go.
where did you get them from
Do you need a licence for that many, l need one for more than 350
