Got a Macbook Air, found this online and returned the Mac the next day. 16 GB RAM/1TB storage with a Ryzen 7 for $90 cheaper than an 8 GB/256GB M2 MacBook Air. Plus you can dual boot and have more control over the system in general. Way better buy than the MacBook Air for my use case

I was gonna get the MacBook air as well, but it's out of my budget for better specs.
The one I looked at is the same as yours.
I'm contemplating whether I should get this or not.

I bought this laptop like one week ago. And have some points for possible future users.
I have slightly better version with still R5 7530u but also 16gb RAM and 512 nvme. I would be REALLY careful with 8GB RAM version - it will be probably barely usable in near future with hungry windows and lets say chrome. (my old laptop had 8gb ram and just on internet use with firefox i had around 80% of RAM usage)
Also - OLED is great but there can be some issues with some kind of fonts in windows. For me its ok, but somebody it could find less ok. 90HZ should be smooth but for me i still can see very visible shutters or lags during scrolling windows setting - i mean what the heck.
Also - its very very noisy under load. After two days I literally had to switch fan setting to whisper mode and still i can hear it. Speakers are quite reasonable however dont expect something special (macbook still ftw). Display is also withtout antireflective layer so can be very tricky on direct lights.
Battery life - "up to 12 hours" yeah literally up to. In reality you will be quite happy for 8h in AVG with internet browsing.
7530u just is renamed older 5 gen AMD cpus - be careful also about that.
For me its not bad laptop however, basic macbook for me is more "whole" and completed product. This is complete example of today product they took great display and somehow build the rest around it. And you can see it and its quite frustrating. For example you will use this computer for a few minutes in a while you will hear fan noise quite a lot. Then trackpad isn´t particulary great either - its not bad, but also it is not bad. Speakers are normal. Display is very reflective, finger prints ARE REALLY EVERYWHERE (on the chase) etc. Also windows are quite pain (cleartype font on OLED displays generally, windows are really not so smooth even with OLED 90hz rate altough on my desktop with 75hz IPS it was much better).
Body is solid but RAM is not expandable and its soldered to the MB - thats a big ouch (!!) expect of NVME there is no possible upgrade for 8gb variants its almost no go. In these days 8gb RAM should not be sold. OLED also require some kind of threatment to this display properly or you can experience a burnout.
Please ASUS you can spend more time and finish your product a little bit more. Worst part is even these annoying things wouldn´t be so expesnive to fix it. If i wouldn´t need a windows I would buy basic M1 for daily workload.
Otherwise it can be quite nice piece of computer.

Thank you so much for this detailed review. I was thinking of selling my MBA M1 to buy this cos I just can't get used to using MacOS but this is preventing me from buying ASUS.

@@diktmalsexact same predicament ad myself. My macbook Air M1 build quality is really really good compared to most windows laptops. This zenbook is the only one im interested in because im still not used to MacOS. But after reading this comment, i might just want to still give macOS another few months before looking at this zenbook

    • @BLACK_JO
      @BLACK_JO 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@fender8372 if you get the correct specs then it's a very capable and compact laptop don't expect it to play 3pl A games and if you do a LOT of coding expect to have to ether bring the charging cable or have a good USB c adapter at hand because the battery life isn't class leading(if you get the Intel version, but if you get the Ryzen version you will be sacrificing a lot of power for better battery life so that's that), I have an anker 737 charger and a supported cable and so I don't have to carry around the 90 watt charger around so that does the trick, but for every thing else for build quality to the amazing screen it's really amazing.
NT ) sometimes the fans can get relatively loud on the highest settings but for coding or browsing the web or even some low 3d rendering it should do the job on the whisper fan settings if plugged in.
Hope this helped, have a great day.
