      Question:
      If an enemy heavy hits my MAX with a havoc shell, will I still get the max HP bonus from a friendly engi hitting me with their underbarrel?

      About it being a guerrilla warfare weapon, it works perfectly on the hermes cloak infiltrator on VS. ive had up to a 4KD on a session with high Kpm too.

    Normally I dont care about new NS weapons, but for this weapon I can truly make an exception for. Looking forward to using this weapon once the patch hits live on PS4

    On thing: The HE nades don't have an arm distance like the normal ones. For that reason alone, I actually really like the default under barrel and use it all the time.

      @@MrMaxBushido if I remember correctly it deals 850 damage (check IGoRawr's video for the exact number) so you can only one shot them of you hit them in the head with the grenade.

    I like the gun. Looks great, feels good and sounds great. It's a good gun but not overly strong imo. The Class specific grenade launcher is a fun gimmick and a great direction in design but for most classes it's just that: a gimmick and very situational at best imho.
    Heavy assault: can be very nice to crush a MAX push but the fact, that you have to give up your LMG for it hurts it's use. The Ammo is really limited like with all classes except Engineer, wich shouldn't be a problem, when staying with the main push. ASP with MCG as sec weapon helps though.
    Light assault: It's fun, but that's it mostly. If there was a stronger knockback on enemies, I could see it more useful. For a class like LA, that is mostly cut of from supplies, 2 grenades are not really enough. When you use the punisher as sec. weapon with ASP its ok I guess.
    Medic: Okayish, if you use the Shield and still want to have an AOE heal but Healing aura is already an option and healing is not that big of a thing normally reviving is, what makes a medic really worth it. Most people use medikits etc. anyways or die pretty fast. The fast TTK in PS2 makes healing a bit weak in general imo. the fact, that you have to give up your assault rife for it is even worse.
    Infiltrator: nice to have, if you use the punisher, because you like the smg, the grenades aren't that strong. same supply problem, the LA has and that little bit of screen blur is minor and very short. Would recommend the normal grenades here
    Engineer: The only class specific grenade, that is really worth to take most of the time. Unlimited supply makes it even better. Raising the max health of vehicles can really help on a tank clash and the ability to "save" a burning tank because you can start with a bit of repair from 40 meters away is pretty useful. Aside from that, it does wonders, when you fire it on MAXes and don't have to expose yourself that much. unlike with medic and HA the weapon is not really a downstep from most carbines and reaching ASP makes the punisher potentially weaker than before, cause you could take assault rifles. When using a vehicle, there is pretty much no reason to not take the punisher or Archer soo it's more of a question between offensive or defensive here. Archer can finish off burning vehicles sometimes while punisher can protect you against C4 fairies and repair + raise max vehicle health temporarily.
    Well that's my impression of the Punisher so far. I'm already excited to hear, what you have to say about it. I love your weapon reviews^^

      normal grenade launcher so good, throw an EMP into enemy, launch the grenade and watch them die, if some one still alive finish them off.
      btw i can't remove The Class specific grenade launcher after equip it, what an annoying bug

      Appreciate the inputs and thoughts mate!
      I will definitely say that I agre with a lot of these points in regards to the underbarrel maybe besides the Medic. I think it has some serious merit in group/chokepoint situations where TTK is a lot messier due to players intersecting and changing positions with each other a lot. Giving up the AR is certainly a rough choice to make but the weapon itself in a pinch is very solid, so in those point hold situations you are more than capable of taking out the odd rogue target who breaches your defences.
      Once again though, some really solid thoughts here mate :)

      @@CAMIKAZE78 After seeing you review, I can understand, why you find the medic one useful. The fact, that it can cleanse the effect of concussion grenades etc. could really be a way to save a chokepoint here and there. I looked at it from a TR main point of view and giving up the AR is really hard, since TR has some of the best ARs ^^
      But as always great review. I skipped the recoil part mostly because recoil is a nonissue with this weapon anyways. Thanks for putting the effort in, to make 20 min weapon review :D

      TR Medic/Engie player here. The engie grenade is awesome, and so is medic's.
      The way i use the medic grenade is when i'm pushing alongside the healing aura, when we're point defending and there's something to cleanse or simply when there are too many players that it's hard to shoot so i just spam heal nades and watch certs go brrrr (obviously situational, but pretty common in biolab fights)
      The way it works for engineer is that it adds max hp to the vehicle while healing it, but here's something you might've not noticed. It adds that HP INSTANTLY. AKA a prowler at 100 HP for example will instantly jump to 600 (whopping 500 HP boost, amazing for maxes) while healing overtime, you can really save a vehicle/max in a very tight spot, and you basically have an infinite supply of it aswell.
      But that's coming from someone who preferred SMGs over ARs anyway, so maybe i don't see the point you're making. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents on just how good, versatile and FUN the punisher is on medic/engineer specifically (I don't play other classes so i wouldn't know)

    This gun is my favourite addition to this game in a long, long time. I just recently returned to the game after about 2 years away, and I'm blown away by how much positive change has happened.

    Hi Cami, very good review as usual :-)
    The Punisher seems to me like the beefy big brother of the NS7 (the Cassette Player SMG) and the class-specific underbarrel grenade launcher for sure is a bonus.
    I rarely get to play PS2 these days but I keep watching TH-cam content on it, among them being your weapon reviews.

    As an NSO main, we didn't really have any options for engineer that involved underbarrel grenades before this thing came out, so I'm just happy I can finally toy around with that type of playstyle

    Really hope the class specific traits of the weapon make their way into more fun toys on the field... Hell even for older weapons! Also hoping to see more variations make it in to crate more unique, different playstyles!

    I grabbed it and started playing around with it today, one thing I'll note is that if you're playing light assault and you have maxed out ammo printer it's a good choice with this one, I find that I'm constantly running it out of ammo and the extra clips can be a life saver, it also extends the number of impulse grenades you get. Other than that I'm with Cami on pretty much every point, lean into CQC and don't over accessorize, this thing is actually pretty great out of the box with just extended mags soft point and the class based underbarrel.

    IMO the default underbarrel fits the weapon perfectly, and i kind of wished it was in the review.
    The grenade isn't meant for regular spam, just get either the S weapon or even the thumper to shoot 6 of them rapidly.
    Where the unberbarrel truely shines is as a finisher, since it has no arming distance, and what feels like a faster switch time, it realy comes in usefull when confirming a kill, just use it when either the CoF gets too big or the small mag runs out.

    this is a really solid weapon for medics and engineers to supplement their healing and repair, and it's a real reliable and hard hitter to boot. a big *but* is that there are still better options in each class, so if you're not using it's supplementary underslung then you might be better in the market for faction specifics like the kindred or the more versatile lmg choices. you can't really go wrong with it for close to mid range engagements, and it'll definitely serve you well, even if the damage drops off sooner than you'd like!

    LA's Impulse is the closest thing to remind me of Spinfusor Jumping from Starsiege: Tribes and Tribes 2. The downside is I'm so used to Team Fortress 2's air strafing after such a jump, which doesn't work in this game as strafing while in the air kills your forward speed on Auraxis.

    Saved a lib several times by jumping out with safefall and hitting it with one of these bad boys when it was on fire. I would definitely recommend for when you're running air/vehicle crew as the quick bonus HP/rep effect when coupled with other repair inputs can be lifesaving.

    I used to use the punisher a lot in Planetside 1 because it was the only weapon in the game that had a secondary underbarrel grenade launcher. I’m glad they decided to bring it to PS2.
    Now if only they’d bring back core combat weapons.

    This is a fun little weapon - it's pretty much made from the ground up as a support weapon. I like that the built-in HE grenade is considerably weaker than the S-type rifle UBG launcher as well - enough to do a little AoE damage, but nothing stupid. Setting up a little engie nest with this and spamming repair grenades is an awesome way to earn some certs and help the team!

    I pretty much only use this weapon for the underbarrel as it gives such amazing mobility that drifter jump jets become a viable way to get around in biolabs without all the downtime you would normally have going up again. combined with the Horizon, it's a mid air slaughterhouse combination and the Punisher can get me out of sticky cqc encounters too.

    I was already thinking of setting up a one-size-fits-all ASP medic setup, but this thing? It's practically a gift from gun jesus. I'm thinking secondary obelisk for long range, this thing for short range, HE underbarrel for chokepoints and revive grenades for when a friendly dives in front of the HE.

    They've really been stepping up their game with the additions they have added, I had to do research on those additional types of hard light barrier they added as well
    This gun sounds like the perfect flexible side grade 👌 as much as I still consider nanite systems weapons controversial because they kind of spoiled the uniqueness of each faction (They really should have added vehicle hacking and cross-faction looting maybe) this gun sounds very useful

    I've got a question, would spamming the underbarrel attachment as an engineer be able to mass repair a player made base? Would more than 1 instance of it be active like how the repair grenade works when thrown?
    Also I can think of some situations where the underbarrel option for the heavy will come into play; 1. When moving as support infantry against an enemy tank column. 2. When as a jockey on a Valkyrie or Harasserer since you can fire while in a vehicle. 3rd one I had in mind was when people MAX crash but that's a 50/50 for me.

    Something you didn't mention about the he rounds for the underbarrel is that they have no minimum arming distance, so you are doing less damage than other underbarrels, but you can dish out that damage at close range.

    Could you re-review the Hunter-QCX "crossbow"? The new incendiary bolts are quite interesting and I've recently realized that detector-bolts do enough damage to kill an injured target on headshot.

    this one feel like it best to hip fire most of the time considering the bloom of the crosshair is very small plus the grenade launcher that strapped to the gun at the get-go is very niche

    So NS Operatives still don't have access to a normal gun with a standard underbarrel attachment. The NS-66 is a good weapon with interesting underbarrel options, but no smoke and the grenades are nerfed. The Yumi does have the standard underbarrel attachments but the bullet firing is a very niche configuration that most people (including me) cant stand. I guess the wait continues.

      Yeah that was a small editting error on my behalf that I didn't pick up on, I was writing down the numbers we gathered from the testing and thought I had cut the video differently. Something to learn from :)

    Have you considered doing a quick review of the starter weapons with the large number of new and returning players? Then you can add a section to the end to recommend different weapons to go to after getting the starters to auraxium for similar playstyles, or a completely different playstyle to spice things up

    I want to see s class weapons getting 2 rail options as well. The s class weapons are rarely used and it would help shake up the meta

    It literally does half the damage. You don't even spawn with enough grenades to kill one player. And let's not forget its complete inability to pierce armor while the S rifles get underbarrel Halberds

    Can you put the NSX Tomoe in your list of weapons to review? The only review of it on TH-cam appears to be from before the damage model was revamped. No one really has paid attention to this gun. I just auraxed the Tengu twice (-P and Networked) and your review was valuable to me!

    -Within short range Soft Point Ammo gives you too little advantage as it will be easier to hit 4 headshots instead, with or without SPA
    -With SPA equipped, 125 damage tier drops at 20 meters, as opposed to High Velocity Ammo, which drops only at 27 meters
    -HVA allows you to compete with or even outmatch carbines like AF-19, in terms of raw DPS over range
    -(as opposed to SPA) 20% bullet velocity can have it's places when fighting Light Assault or taking targets at other ranges than CQC
    -ClassGL is so unique and exclusive - it puts Punisher as the best weapon in the entire game

    Regarding tips and tricks- Have you tried stacking Ambusher jump jets with the ImpulseGL? 50+ meters in one jump! It's so fricking cool, I love it!

    I swear to god the reticle of my Punisher WITH the laser sight doesn't look as accurate as his does without it. I watch him hipfiring while moving and have no idea HOW the crosshairs are that small.

      Keep in mind that he's running at 110 FOV. That probably makes the crosshairs seem tighter.

    Thx I’m using this with An infiltrator on the flash 2 extra emp grenades is bad ass and you can pick up ammo packs.

    I found the IRNV underwhelming on a new gun. It is only b/w and not coloured on the newer weapons which I found to be a huge improvement.

    Im already in love with the punisher , it feels like all the best parts of the other smg's rolled in to 1 with the added underbarrel shanigans , i do have a question about your crosshair tho , are you using some sort of mod/addon for it , pretty sure mine doesnt light up that bright when targetting a enemy

    This is basically a slightly worse edirani (slower reload, worse recoil) with an UBG. Considering Eridani is pretty damn good the punisher isn't too shabby either.

    I really love this weapon so far, but it needs some overwork (especially for the engineer) I would wish for a longer and stronger repair heal.... example: a car or tank drives by crittically damaged, give him a shot of the repair grenade and focus on other things while the vehicle heals 50 or 75% health over time (can be stopped by any kind of damage and if the target is full heal the effect stops even if the timer didn't run out yet)
    Right now the repair boost just feels really weak and is almost useless (even with giving the target some extra health, the effect runs out way too fast)
    Just my opinion.... else it's a wonderful weapon!

    I mostly waited punisher for it's impulse granades, but in reality they are just to slow to pull. Let me explain.
    Carabines have unique querk - they super accurate midair, so there is no way what i would use smg on my light assault. This left only one option - ASP perk for smg as secondaries. And it is just to slow. You need to pull your Punisher, then press gear slot again, wait for switch animation and only then you can use it's underbarel launcher. I wish we could have impulse granades similar to fujin throwing knifes - press G and with short delay you already recieve acceleration. Just one sharp and fast move.
    Punisher is just a pocket version of "SPACE ASSHOLE" LA loadout - when you equip maxed Heavy Weight implant and push maxes and snipers from air-resupply pods on any tower-type base, like crown.
    My dissapointment is immesurable and my day is ruined.

    Underbarrel aside, the Eridani ( and its empire equivalents ) is a superior weapon

    Haven't finished but the GL under barrel also doesn't shoot right down the middle. Trying to fit it between two objects I actually struggled to get it between as shots would typically shoot to the left or right of the center of the cross hairs.
    Is it normal for under barrel GLs to have this?

    In my opinion. We need more guns. And those rare ones need to be more available. And to Aruax should be lowered to 500/600 kills. To a new player 1,160 through 5 guns is a shit ton. But more unique guns would be nice

    It's a pretty good gun as I got mine to Auraxium in like 23 hours. Would have been quicker If I didn't have other stuff to do. It's a very interesting gun though.
    I can see a nerf coming for it though as the anti repair nades are a bit broken if used well. See an annoying Max with 20 engie on it? Anti repair nade it and watch it die from lack of heals. See that annoying shield sundy getting repaired? Spam anti repair nades and watch it die quickly due to lack of repairs. You also got the impulse nades for the LA. Let's be honest the LA is a pretty unbalanced class already. I found myself getting a lot more kills due to the impulse nade allowing me to go to places far more quickly than normal. It's a very fun nade to use but mixed with the already unbalanced LA it's pretty crazy. Not to mention for VS anyway it's better than all of our smgs which is a bit depressing.

    If this gun had a special compensator that reduces horizontal recoil, it will be perfect.
    Annnnnnnnnnnnd I had it auraxed within a month without even trying to use it.
    Can't touch NS-7 ever again(recoil-wise this one has more vertical recoil but horizontal is comparable, and this thing hits way harder at close range).

    I feel like this weapon needs an magazine size increase. It has a high rate of fire so it should have a base amount of 30 with 40 of the extended mag. I find it underwhelming considering the amount of bullets to kill which will make you reload often. Some SMGs like the VE series has 40 Magazine capacity with a slower firerate. This doesn't make sense to me. Why would higher capacity guns have slower firerates compared to the faster firing ones!?

      It's not because of balance in mind. Some guns have more rounds in them and fire slower, just so that you can increase the duration of hurt being delivered.
      Something like supression fire. It's not to increase killing potential, it is to increase the time where the door for example is under fire, longer than you would be able to do with other guns.

    man i s*wish the MAX got a cool tool like the Punisher... but yeah, this gun changes a LOT how MAX play: engie punishers can take a MAX from 2000 health to 2500, great for pushes, while the Heavy assault's punisher makes sure the MAX can fall out of a 1shot, no matter how many engineers it has.. only thing that relaly annoys me with the Havoc is that a single one can eat half of a self-repair's duration, without the MAX really being able to do much about it

    Eclipse + NS-66 is the best setup on LA. NS-66 as a main weapon is pretty lacking compared to other SMG's.

    This gun feels a little too strong the way it is. I couldn't outgun it (even at 20 meters) and even with getting headshots. In a 1 on 1 fight I just couldn't do it, and it only seemed to be the Punisher, every other gun I could keep up with, idk.

      I wouldn't really call it OP at this stage as it shares the same damage model as the VX-9 Terminus for the VS, and the T9A-Butcher for the TR. It is lacking in uptime too, which is how it keeps itself in check from being OP I think.

    Gonna bring this again. I have small gripe about your TTK numbers, PS2 uses weapons with bullet velocity, and your numbers use formula that doesn't add bullet travel time to TTK. The proper formula for any distance shots would be "TTK = ((Shots To Kill-1))*Rate Of Fire/60) + (Distance/Velocity)", you can recheck it in calculators like this - protovision.github.io/ttk-calc .

      Thats why it's called theoretical time to kill, and in his reviews Cami mentions that he doesn't count in bullet velocity

      @@MadMarco All TTK numbers are theoretical, but counting in bullet velocity is important because it's about 0.2s difference for weapons like SMG for long range shots, it adds a lot.
