  • Well, after hearing about a mark on Loch Long, that was very popular due to the quantities of fish being caught. To say I was annoyed with the state of the place when I arrived, is an understatement.
I was in 2 minds whether to post this video or not. I'm not after a load of praise for this, I'm just doing my bit. What I want to do, is highlight that its the minority that cause these issues. Most anglers, and campers I meet are very respectful of the areas they visit. Clear their own rubbish away and usually take a little more if its there.
Please guys, if everyone just takes their own rubbish with them, no one would have to clean up at all!!
As cliche as this may sound, leave nothing but footprints, and we can all enjoy areas like this for years to come!

That’s usually the reason they have no fishing signs in areas. Cause one or group of people decides it’s no big deal but when your there the next day and the ranger or whoever is in charge of the fishing area thinks it’s you. But I always pick up the beer cans and worm canisters so when the authorities stop by I can show that I’m cleaning the junk from the idiots who shouldn’t be allowed. Amazing how they will probably be all upset when there’s no trespassing eventually and they will wonder why did this happen. Ridiculous that they can’t see basic cause and effect. But whatever can’t fix stupid

In my experience, especially in very rural areas, it's precisely the locals who are causing the problem. Can't tell you how many times I've come across an illegal trash dump where the locals just throw their household trash over the side if the bridge in an otherwise beautiful natural area, and they have trash service available for only a small monthly payment but rather than spend $1.50 a month they throw it in the creek. Makes you wanna cry.

@@theawfulangler Honestly there's a lake that's about 50 mins drive from me, just outside Ballnahinch N.Ireland but the plastic bags, bottles and cans would take a clean up crew a good week and your no sooner have it cleared up and idiots would be leaving rubbish everywhere again. Not sure what's wrong with people who can carry all that stuff out to the middle of nowhere and leave a mess. I've taken some of my best photos after spending 15 mins clearing up after myself and having one last check around before I go and I always have to get the camera out again for that last sunset shot. Like I saud, catching fish is secondary and of course the whole excuse for being there. There's others lakes near that first place I mentioned by they are now closed off with No Fishing signs up because people have no respect for other people's property, they dump rubbish and leave gates open. If I had a spot with a lake on it. I'd have no fishing signs up too lol.

Just found your videos mate you're a top fella for picking all that crap from part time fishing chavs... I've been to Anglesey several times this year to a spot that used to be great for big conger but drawn a blank several times in 2022, it's been a crap year for most species for myself that is. Just a little idea that I use when targeting conger, i inject the stinky fish oils directly into a full joey just before casting using a large gauge veterinary needle, I know it sounds a bit crazy but it gets those stinky fish oils right down to where the conger are hiding. It just didn't work this year but around Anglesey the fishing seems to have been bad in general really.
Anyhow I love your video new subscriber here and look forward to the next.

I grew up regularly fishing Anglesey with my dad and his mate. I've been back a couple of times this year, and the fishing isn't as I remember it. Maybe I was more easily impressed as a kid haha.
I was hoping to get over in the next couple of weeks and target Congers, but our little one arrived on Friday, 13wks early, so that may have to go on hold. I have a couple of ideas for a more prepared Conger trip, and yes the oils is one of those ideas...lets wait and see if/when I can make that happen :)

Like yourself Anglesey was my stomping ground as a teenager, we had a small caravan at Trearddur Bay that’s were my Dad got me into fishing.. congrats on ur young one I’m sure in a few years you’ll have a hand line in his hands😀.
Holyhead pier used to be great for big conger just dropped Down the side, and even better at night. Also I’m not sure if you know Anglesey but a spot named Mackrel point is great, I’ve had some stonking conger there, but access can be a bit of a beggar, getting a decent spot there in the summer is like fighting for real estate as you get the herds casting feathers out for Mackrel. Anyway it’s pretty deep water off that point, cast out about 40yards and as I say night fishing can produce some great conger specimens.
Anyhow I’m really enjoying your videos and looking forward to more. Stay safe all the best mate.
Oh, if in the future you want specific co-ordinates then let me know, but it sounds like you’re gonna be busy for some time yourself 😁👍
