got my duramax for 5k and when i got it it had small issues like the heater blower fan being stuck on (that being the switch being burned up) and i can fill my tank over half because of a fuel line thant not even a high pressure that i can replace in the spring with a rubber hose.
I suggest a new fuel filter head, or a fuel filter head seal kit, also a new fuel filter. Be sure to check the balance rates on the injectors, they need to be +4 or -4 but closer to 0 the better. Also another common issue with LLY’s is the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) on the CP3 injector and the miss fire codes are probably for the injector pig tales not making full connection to the injector.
We’re gonna be checking deeper into this thing for sure. I appreciate the advice. I’m no diesel mechanic by any means so it’s definitely a learning curve.

@@CoopsHouse I accidentally grounded out the FICM when I was slipping the charge pipping through. It touched the battery and sparked up. The guy who rebuilt it said it looked like it exploded inside. Took longer in shipping then it took them to fix it haha

It needs a fuel filter housing or it’s sucking air from a fuel line boys. The fuel cooler is a common place for the lines to suck air also where the braided lines are crimped. When the fuel system is bled there will be no air at the bleeder screw then you pump the primer until the primer gets hard.
@@CoopsHouse no problem the fuel system is under vacuum so it won’t really show a leak from the supply line just a little tip. If you throw a fass on it that will show you for sure if you have a leak in a fuel line. Hope you get er all figured out
we just bought an LLY for $1000 a month ago. it didn’t crank. found a corroded fuse got it to crank, wouldn’t fire ended up bleeding fuel system and it fired but would only run for 20 seconds or so. ended up rebuilding the o rings in the fuel filter head and it runs now but loses prime randomly. back to the drawing board !
@@CoopsHousethat truck is way cleaner than ours body wise though. We are up in Michigan in the rust belt so ours has some surface rust but not a bad buy at any means. I believe it’s sucking air so I think our next plan is to tap a valve stem from a tire into a fuel cap and try pressurizing the fuel system from the tank. @@sapracing1674check sending unit. Had to replace it in mine because of same issue. Slowly loosing prime. Tops of the sending units sometimes rust and create pinholes. If your beds already shot I suggest just taking a grinder to bed above it because the bed mounts will most likely break comming off or going back on. Dropping the tank will most likely break straps. The sending unit has a locking ring around it. Put a flat head or drive on the ring and give her hell. Once that's off the sending unit will come right out. Summit racing sells one for dirt cheap and works like stock if not better.
i did a fuel pressure regulator and aa y bridge replacement on an lly and a little snort of either to get it rolling wont hurt it.. ITS NOT A PERKINS diesel lol (they blow up on even a little snort)
My lly Sierra does the same exact thing, I parked it for several months and now it'll run 20 seconds then loose prime. After priming several hundred times I'm about to swap the primer system.
That’s how this was! Apparently was running perfect, he was headed home and it shut off. Took it to the shop that found the FICM was bad, so it’s been sitting since I bought it several months ago til I could find a FICM…

Dude, that car is awesome. I love chevrolets personally and my thoughts are if you have a priming issue it sort of seemed like a bad fuel pump. But manual pumping a lot supposedly worked.
@@CoopsHouse I mean yeah i love that thing its awesome, I'm not 100% sure if that fuel pump works so I would look into that, because the low fuel pressure code could be because the engine suction is the only thing pulling fuel so I would defiantly look into that. However you did get yourself a new sub as well.
Get a fass and bypass the filter housing lines. No doubt it’s the filter housing head sucking air in. I doubt you have any injector issues. I would get the fuel issue sorted before dumping any money anywhere else cause it might solve a lot of it
If it does have limited slip in the front then both tires won't turn most stock 4x4 the back drive side will turn and the front passenger will turn that ur four wheel drive
Absolutely, it the use vacuum to draw fuel as im sure yall know now, those primer bulbs will let air in the system causing havoc. Love the channel man! Where yall located? Im in SC but we charter coaches all over the US @@CoopsHouse

I actually buy an lbz for 1,000 and turned it into a 6,000 dollar truck but I think I possibly have the same problem this truck is having except I have no codes
@@CoopsHouse Also the sending unit that and the fuel lines made me give up on it. I couldn't get one fuel line unhooked the other I got off. Then there was the sending unit and I would have had to drop the fuel tank or cut a hole in the bed of the truck or remove the bed.

@@CoopsHouseI actually finally finally figured out my issue, my security system was shutting the truck off. So I replaced the tumbler and had a locksmith use a scanner to reprogram it and it’s good as new!
@CoopsHouse gotta go back to work, could finish watching. But my truck was having the same problem, i had an incredibly small crack in the filter housing. I replaced it and still runs like a dream
No ones gonna believe me on this one but I had a lly got it new did all the basic stuff lift pump and all the piping that’s a must have for a lly and slapped a pretty mean tune on it totaled the truck at 490k miles with stock heads and never had fuel problems just kept up with maintenance and replaced the basic parts that wore out
My truck just threw a cylinder 8 misfire which was a p0208 code and a bank 2 fuel rail low pressure code. I ended up splicing a new injector pigtail on the joker for like 40 bucks and it ran like a top…. So check and see if that connector is bad and it might just save you from changing the whole injector. Also these trucks throw a low fuel rail pressure code when it misfires to the whole bank for some odd reason. So because it’s throwing a low fuel tail pressure with a misfire makes me think it’s in limp mode
do yourslef a favor and put a lift pump on it and a ppe race plug in the fuel rail along with a filter head rebuild or block off plate with the lift pump

You guys have a fuel issue yes I know you know that but you will never find the leak with the stick system as it sucks fuel from the system you need positive pressure to see any leaks … go front the tank new lines get a lift pump can build your own if needed go add two frame filters and go directly to the cp3 with upgraded fittings it’s hard to get to but doable ….. to find the issue get positive fuel pressure bottom line

I fried the FICM on my LB7. There’s a shop called SIA. They rebuilt it and warrantied their work for life. Cost 235$ shipped back to me

injector harness was a big issue on those llys check the pig tails on those injectors!

Im at 14:16, at this point id suggest priming while the engine is running.

The fuel might be coming from the bleader screw itself. Happened to me… replace that screw and prime it see if it keeps prime. 5$ at orileys

Put cardboard under the truck to find the fuel leak. It’s probably the cooler. Get the air out one last time and it should be good to go.
