    Some of the basic concepts of mobile warfare😊 Masking, single envelopment, double envelopment and flank protection. All in one video. Cool

    Napalm and forest fires also create a sight blocking smoke

    • @Bandanner
      @Bandanner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is very true.
      Interesting point to note there was a bug not sure if its still in but the Swedish flame troops could see through any smoke they made themselves. It may have been patched.

    I think my problem is that my reaction time on mouse and key board is terrible
    I am sorta new to pc gaming so it is pretty difficult for me to micro manage an assault or reinforce a defense when its getting hammered. In the heat of the moment I often forget keys or am too slow at getting my units in position and unloading my infantry from their transports.

    • @Bandanner
      @Bandanner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      First thing to say is do not beat yourself up about it, if you are new to using a mouse and keyboard for gaming then it will take a bit of getting used to.
      Micromanaging is hard for most people, watch the few 1v1 games I have put up, I hardly talk in them and have had to do commentarys after the fact because I am concentrating so much.
      All these things improve with practice. :)

      @@Bandanner yea your right about practicing
      It just gets so frustrating because sometimes I can’t tell if its just me being bad with keyboard and mouse or if I’m not using a keybind or command that would make things easier.

      @@offtemp5733 well using the hot keys can speed things up. I use them but not all the time.
      I think you can get away without using them though. Unless you want to play high level ranked games thdn you migjt need to use them a lot.

      @@Bandanner the one thing I always mess up on is getting infantry out and away from their transports, especially helicopters. I either leave them sitting too long or end up moving both the infantry and transport when I only want to move the infantry.

    • @Bandanner

      So unsure if you know, I mention it in some videos but not others. You can use shift click to queue orders.
      So for example give the helecopter a move command (right click) then hold shift and richt click to make further move commands in a row, then press unload button (or hotkey) then click where you made the move command or similar. That is assuming you want to move your helecopters around the map or something.
      If you just want to "unload" them then you can just tell them to unload rather than give them a move command.
      With ground vehicles you are better off doing move fast first then using shift to unload. If you just select unload they will not use roads to get to their destination I don't think.
      I sometimes forget to unload troops too if I am working on multiple parts of the map

    Great vid again! Maybe a future video on usage of airpower, im particularly inept at getting the best out of aircraft, especially the expensive ones.....

    • @Bandanner
      @Bandanner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Aircraft are very situational, even the best players can watch them all get destroyed by well used AA. I rarely go for them first myself unless no one else on the team is. They can be devastating but equally they can be a costly loss. I will have a think about that one, its certainly not an easy topic.

    A point about your smoke usage here. I am not a good Wargame player myself but I have seen actual good wargame players suggest this and I know it is an actual realworld principle.
    When you are going to attack a position, don't put a smokescreen between you and it. This prevents you seeing what the enemy is going and prevents any direct fire support you have from engaging the enemy. Instead you should either smoke behind the position you are going to assault so that the enemies direct fire support cannot support their defence (you do this if you beleive you can overmatch the fire output of the enemy in the area you will be assaulting) or you smoke behind *and on top of* the enemy you are about to assault to minimize the impact the smoke has on your firesupport while still preventing the position from firing on you or being supported.

      Thanks for commenting :)
      Firstly, this is a basics video, it is intended to give the general basic overview of assaulting a town in wargame. I have intentionally not gone further with that otherwise I could talk for hours. Equally I am not an expert at competitive Wargame, so I don't always want to get too advanced.
      Smoking in front of a town when assaulting it is a simple way to ensure your forces can reach the position without the defending troops tearing you to bits. Hence basics of assault.
      Wargame is not the real world and tactics do not always cross over. Smoke is a good example as in wargame it simply blocks LOS, it has many more effects in the real world, confusion, panic, all sides not knowing the exact positions of their forces etc etc (Modern GPS not withstanding).
      Smoking on top of where you are attacking certainly has some benefits, but you need to ensure if you are assaulting a town the troops on the edge of that town don't have LOS on you or you will take heavy losses when you attack, unless you have managed to drive those troops back by other means.
      Having overwhelming force is useless if you lose half of it before you reach the position. Remember in wargame inf in towns have the best stealth and highest bonus defence in the game, they can also "teleport" around the individual zones and to adjacent town zones.
      I am not sure I have ever seen anyone smoke behind a town/forest in wargame, as that really only blocks your own LOS as to incoming enemy reinforcements, their existing defensive line would however know where your troops are.
      Direct fire support from behind a town that you are attacking would not play much of a role due to how LOS works in wargame. A Tank can't fire into the middle of a town so its not going to protect your attacking forces from that kind of fire, unless you walk them right to the other edge of the town?
      I could see a situational benefit if you were attacking a town that is very small and they have direct fire support all around it so you troops would always take fire, though at that point I probably wouldn't even try to take the town as once the smoke drops your troops would be dead.
      But all of this is going beyond basics.
      I will keep an eye out for people using that tactic in game as perhaps I have just missed it.

    Pls don't waste your buratino rockets like that. Fire 10-15 that's more than enough. Also your best bet is to smoke enemy fire support locations so they have to move out to do shit and loose their first shot advantage. Otherwise it's a really good guide.

    Not a big fan of encouraging people to smoke infront of what is being attacked
    if they have vehicles, they can poke out of the smoke and shoot your things before retaliation
    all of the nice direct fire support you build up - cant do anything to assist, so your fight (in towns atleast) becomes a grind between infantry, while also giving the opponent a fairly easy bomb target to wipe your push
    if you want to smoke, yu smoke off their flanks (should they have units overlooking your attack vector), and then only use HE artillery (or napalm) to morale dmg the opponent you want to dislodge.
    This way you are fighting panicked enemies with your assault force aswell as your (presumably) vehicle-based fire support

    • @Bandanner
      @Bandanner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's fair all of these things are very situational depending on map position, unit composition etc etc.
