Thank you very much for making this Versus AI video. This is where most of us wanna-get-gud noobs start to learn how things work etc, before we step into the multiplayer pool. I like how you talk about knowing the enemy deck potential, and the reasoning behind how you deploy the start. We noobs see these Eugen gameplays usually and the players just magically know what to place and where and rarely do they say WHY, so lots of grinding and losing and memorizing to find out yourself haha
This is actually the first time I'm seeing the AI behavior in Warno, glad you peeked at the replay to see what happened. Why do I like to try the AI first in Eugen games? 1) I need to figure out what these units actually can do, how to get them around (how long does it take?) and ready to see and fight. How long until they are needing supplies? Also, getting familiar with the maps. 2) The main reason to go against AI afterwards is to figure out your deck's unit capabilities and counters solutions vs possible enemy decks. Are you getting your butt kicked by certain units? Are you running out of your units too quick? Did I bring enough recon, AA, infantry, Command vehicles etc that can qualitatively perform their unit roles at a reasonable cost? So while AI might not be the challenge you are seeking over time, it helps you get your stuff together for when you will face multiplayer challenges....keeping strongly in mind what Bandanner said, the human player is often far more sneaky, smart and efficient in coming after you and those precious map positions(and meme cheese plays will happen sometimes).
One thing about the AI replay: I think in previous Eugen Wargame titles (especially European Escalation and ALB), the AI opfor would magically "see" your deployment and reinforcements, thus it would bring forth counters and weakness exploiter units (usually spamming them & testing your patience too). In this replay, AI seemed to deploy their start before it knew what you were doing. On the one hand, this implying less AI cheating (at start at least), but than on the other hand I wonder if AI in Warno will be as useful for testing your weaknesses. Notice the immediate AI focus on recon. I'm guessing that it's with Recon and early contact that AI responds with counter deployments as it's able (more like a human player does it and less AI crystal balls and psychic powers).
Just what I was looking for, a coherent explanation of the gameplay for beginners. I want to love this game as I’m a newbie but I’m an antique player of Command & Conquer with those gameplay habits. Thank you for posting this & subscribed
It's improving all the time, though it remains early access and the single player campaign is not in yet. So depends what you are looking for. As ever early access must be your own decision.
Excellent video, sir! Perfect timing for me to find as just bought WARNO yesterday. Your commentary was very informative not only for your thought process but also explaining the strengths of the many different units and when and how to use them efficiently in battle! Looking forward to seeing your next video fighting against "medium AI" (and hopefully "hard" AI in the future), as I am focused on single player gameplay so will be playing lots of AI opponents as time goes on. May I suggest playing the same division yourself and also the same AI division on the same battle map? That way the only changing variable is the AI as you move forward playing better and better AI. And I played through the Bruderkrieg campaign over on my "RTS casts & stuff" channel which is more recent, that may or may not be helpful.

Yea, that would be good if you're going to play against AI a majority of the time. But if you're going to play multiplayer I would rather watch him play multiplayer matches to get an idea of what strategies are going to be used by other skilled players.
I picked it up in the steam sale, been too (what's the word intimidated maybe) to even try it, first AI match I got beat, I'm quite a defensive RTS player so this is all a bit new for me, and so many tutorials seem to cover the set up but not actually playing the game and explaining the HOW to play. I saw you pop up and going to see if I can get a feel of the game from you and see if I can work it out. I avoided wargame for the same reason (even though I own them all) so maybe now will go back through them too.
I have some guides on both though guides for WARNO are more limited since its still in EA they keep changing things so I am reluctant to put out too many videos until it settles :)
@@Bandanner yeah like the group you pick in this video has changed 😂 also took me ages how to change my ai and me around on the selection screen so they were nato. Guessing this is why the mod selection is a bit rubbish at moment too as they keep changing things
Hello again! Quick question. Can I save a skirmish or operation mid-game and be able to load and continue the game at a later date OR does the WARNO autosave feature only work with completed games? Can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere within the game or online searching. Thanks! :)
You can't save mid skirmish or operation in Warno. It just saves a replay at the end. But that's actually an interesting point, I never really thought about it but in a lot of RTS games you can save mid mission.
I’ve been getting into RTS games a lot lately. I was deep into SQUAD but developers ruined that game! Anyways, is WARNO available on steam? If so how much? I will probably purchase it later this evening.

Sorry to bother you again, but appreciate if you can help me out. Played single player operation "Black Horse". After finishing, no replay shows under the replay tab. I've got the option to save replays checked in settings. Any idea why I am not able to view my game replay?
To be honest if it's not there, it's fully possible you can't save replays of the operations or more the game does not produce them. You have me wondering, because I honestly don't remember ever going to look and can't think I have specifically seen one. I will try and remember to have a double check tomorrow when I am on the PC.
@@Bandanner Thanks for the quick reply. I think you are correct about operations not saving as a replay. Tried a skirmish and there was a replay to view, although very painful to watch as AI kicked my butt on "easy" no less. Oh the shame! Ha! Ha!
@@barrysworld640i had same issue where I couldn't save, but I looked at replays and every match whether skirmish or the campaign was there, and I could rename each one. Not sure if this was somewhat fixed recently, but wanted to post in case anyone else has same issue.
@@Drelam Thanks for your input! From what I have been able to find out, it appears that Operations are not saved, however Skirmish and Campaign battles are.
Stick with it, you will eventually get used to the units an positioning, focus on building a defence first then pushing if you can. What level AI are you playing against? And what specific things are you struggling with? I might be able to make a video/point you at one that helps
@@Bandanner playing against Lvl 2 ai. I believe its alot to do with positioning and unit control tbh. Whenever I attempt to setup a defensive location my units get blown up prior to getting setup.

@@Bandanner cool I'll check them all out this weekend. As a classic rts player from years ago it's just a way way different style of play but with this, regiments and broken arrow it looks like a style I need to get into, to get back into rts games properly and loved the broken arrow demo
@Bandanner interesting, attack makes more sense lol. Hunt seems like they are being discrete about it. Like no, I want to ATTACK! Lol also I saw your tutorial videos against AI like you mentioned to watch on your live stream and my unit spawning skills went from a 2/10 to a strong 5/10 instantly.
@@sergioh2015 Good glad it was helpful. If you are into 1v1 ranked etc if he is ever on check out Lathans on Twitch he will sometimes talk through his deployment when he is playing ranked.
@Bandanner I'm not sure what I'm into yet, as a rocket league main, I know games can vary greatly from 1v1 vs 2v2 and up. And I can see that happening here too. I played my first online game a few days ago and was not prepared at all. But thank you for the tips!! Hope to run into you on the battle field someday.

Holy hell. I got this game a couple of days ago and this video opened my eyes to just how complex and immersive this game is. So much depth.

I'd like to see you replay this game by scaling the difficulty each time up to the hardest difficulty.

the GAZ aa truck is great in a layered AD system.... like manpads they cannot be targeted by SEAD aircraft.
They just kicking my ass nonstop

i like pushing manpads, infantry, anti tank, some supply trough forests X) enough troops in case enemy do the same. and heavy defensive elsewhere
How come you can deploy so far ahead of the starting area? is it a XP thing? Mine keeps saying I cant?
Forward deployment troops or recon. I have a guide video on that. It should be in the warno guides playlist ;)
